At launch, the Chinese brand faced cautious perceptions among Korean consumers. However, sentiment shifted quickly as early adopters shared positive experiences, highlighting the brand’s strong value for money and solid product competitiveness. Driving this growth is BYD’s first electric SUV in Korea, the ATTO 3. The model has earned favorable evaluations for its well-rounded fundamentals relative to its price. It combines advanced technology and safety features with the smooth driving characteristics typical of electric vehicles, while offering generous interior space and a wide range of convenience features. This balance has positioned the ATTO 3 as a compelling entry-level electric SUV. Priced between KRW 31.5 million and KRW 33.3 million, the ATTO 3 becomes even more competitive when regional government subsidies are applied, bringing the effective purchase price into the high KRW 20 million range. At this level, it directly competes with similarly sized internal combustion engine SUVs, reinforcing its appeal as a rational alternative. Alongside its product strategy, BYD has focused on building trust as a brand that consumers can rely on. The company has aggressively expanded its sales and service network, currently operating 27 showrooms and 16 service centers nationwide. This rapid expansion has significantly improved customer accessibility and after-sales service convenience, contributing to a more stable and credible brand image. Despite being in its first year of operation in Korea, BYD has maintained steady growth since March, recording cumulative sales of 4,955 units through November. Sales of the ATTO 3 rose from just 10 units in the early stages to 444 units in November, demonstrating a clear upward trajectory. The lineup has also expanded with the addition of the SEAL sedan and the mid-size SUV SEALION 7, further strengthening BYD’s market presence. Having exceeded expectations in its first year, BYD plans to continue its growth by expanding its product lineup and enhancing customer engagement in the coming year. source : [https://www.autodaily.co.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=539775](https://www.autodaily.co.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=539775)

This must be terrifying for the west as they have been trying to invest more in Kia and Hyundai to combat BYD

It likely helps the BYD range have more traditional and "normal" esthetics compared to the current Domestic evs (especially Kia) The Kia I test drove was great and the specs were reasonable however the styling inside and out was just too polarizing. The BYD won on price, spec and styling
