Oh it’ll come out alright. Just overpriced and underspec and obviously late. The Tesla Influencers will proclaim it as the best car ever made and then it will go down in history as a flop.

Lacrewpandora 2025-11-02 14:14

I now understand - Musk's recent announcement that a flying Roadster demo was right around the corner was his childish response to Altman canceling his reservation.

[deleted] 2025-11-02 14:17

You forgot Badly engineered and falling apart

[deleted] 2025-11-02 14:18

Elon is a 5 year old with 56.

New_Reputation5222 2025-11-02 14:50

He made the same claim back in 2018. You'd think he'd at least come up with new lies.

BringBackUsenet 2025-11-02 14:54

Supposedly that statement meant he was going to launch one into space. Knowing him, he'll put an empty shell into a SpaceX rocket and send it up on taxpayer money.

BringBackUsenet 2025-11-02 14:54

It's too easy to keep the lie going with "next year."

techbunnyboy 2025-11-02 14:57

Isn’t it time to give up on elmo?

stoverex 2025-11-02 15:02

Is he still saying it’s going to have rocket thrusters? What’s with his obsession with merging cars with rockets, so effing stupid. Just build cars people want to buy.

RatamacueRatamacue 2025-11-02 15:08

Musk: We're getting very close to demonstrating a prototype... We have some crazy crazy technology in this car... Is it even a car? It looks like a car... If you took all the James Bond cars, it's crazier than that. Rogan: Holy shit... Can it fly? Elon won't admit it's late so long as he can convince Rogan the roadster will fly. Same way he convinced Rogan the Cybertruck was great. "Can I shoot arrows into it?" Sure, let's go do it.

Dry-Interaction-1246 2025-11-02 15:34

Somebody actually believed in that ever?

Venicide1492 2025-11-02 15:55

It should be the “20 roadster” and cost 20 K

zippopopamus 2025-11-02 15:57

U can say the same for fsd and robotaxi at this point

Soffritto_Cake_24 2025-11-02 15:59

problem is whatever they put out it will just be something between a Lucid, Cybertruck, Porsche, Bugatti and Nevera. They cannot offer anything that would stand out, and they know it.

Whatwhyreally 2025-11-02 16:24

For musk, claiming features of the roadster has become a game called "how far can I push this?"

RWLemon 2025-11-02 16:31

Ahhhh shit, lucky I didn’t put any money down for it… Suckas who did 😂

ScaryRun619 2025-11-02 16:43

Elon did. Elon did.

Meanwhile I might take the money others "donated" to get on a waiting list to buy a whole MG Cyberster

soldieroscar 2025-11-02 17:05

Yup translates to “please don’t canceled all of your reservations!!!”

Ornery_Climate1056 2025-11-02 17:11

So, don't buy one...your choice...

readit145 2025-11-02 17:18

Meanwhile some kid just got arrested for flying a hover craft on public roads….

ExcitingMeet2443 2025-11-02 17:24

From the team that brought you the Cybertruck

zedk47 2025-11-02 17:26

Does Altman understand "next year" meaning? I can explain him tomorrow.

vxicepickxv 2025-11-02 17:38

The fact that people keep falling for it is the sad part.

vxicepickxv 2025-11-02 17:40

He's on a decade of FSD next year.

ChollyWheels 2025-11-02 17:51

There was a very famous computer game in the 1990s for which a sequel was eagerly anticipated. Enormous resources were devoted to it, but competitors came out with games with better tech... so the development team took the tough decision to scrap their plans, and start again -- more grandly. They wanted to be the BEST in every way -- hippest, most remarkable, better than the original, really really cool. The process repeated for something like 20 years... brainstorm, develop, big resources, real innovation, QUIT and start again... during which many generations of gamers were born and aged out of interest... This may not be the Tesla case - where it's resources are getting squandered (well, spent) chasing robots and AI... But the longer the delay, the better it has to be. Flying, nuclear battery with an 80 year half-life, submarine mode (salt and freshwater) but no sonar (vision only), and f'k a sound system -- for a monthly fee a life violinist in the trunk. Note to Mr. Musk: I am available for your advanced planning team.

Visual_Collar_8893 2025-11-02 17:51

2020? Half a decade later, and it’s still not out. Most cars would be on their second or third design iterations by now and a lot of people who can, are already shopping for a new car.

JIsADev 2025-11-02 17:53

We gave up on Tesla a long time ago

RatamacueRatamacue 2025-11-02 18:12

The question was: Are you still doing the roadster? https://youtube.com/shorts/08lDPRkSfZM?si=Nfe1OjAlfnms_jwP https://youtube.com/shorts/ZuC52mdkr74?si=4V0UuOj6GFx22YlT

earthman34 2025-11-02 19:05

They're terrified of another Cybertruck fiasco.

DamNamesTaken11 2025-11-02 19:26

You mean a car that was promised half a decade ago that can from 0 to 60 in less than a second, has rocket engines, and have a range of 620 miles for a quarter million is a pipe dream?! I’m shocked, shocked! Well, not that shocked.

bobi2393 2025-11-02 19:56

I wonder if he made up the claim during the Rogan interview. Imagine being on the design team, trying to hit a three month demo deadline, and Musk strolls in saying "and by the way, it has to fly, too!"

ShotBandicoot7 2025-11-02 20:02

Why? Roadster next week. Flying car by end of year.

0xe1e10d68 2025-11-02 20:18

Announced in 2017, and even the most optimistic timeline would put it at releasing a full 10 years, a decade, after that. Realistically, it’ll take even longer, maybe until 2030; if it comes at all that is.

MoleMoustache 2025-11-02 21:05

Hahahahahahahahaha a cultist.

Superbead 2025-11-02 21:07

Blow it out your ass!

RagingDemonsNoDQ 2025-11-02 21:14

I'm surprised that people haven't sued him yet because he hasn't delivered on those Roadsters

starmansouper 2025-11-02 21:18

Battlecruiser 3000AD? Derek Smart was quite the pompous lolcow back then

biggly_biggums 2025-11-02 21:25

VitaminPb 2025-11-02 21:32

Tesla Roadster: Duke Nukem Whenever edition.

ChollyWheels 2025-11-02 21:50

I would say I already just did. : )

AgentSmith187 2025-11-02 21:53

Dont forget it will look like a model 3 just more expensive.

[deleted] 2025-11-02 22:40

And MechaHitler and Starship (its all Elon

That_Comment_874 2025-11-03 00:22

Hear me out. Tesla has become basically a pyramid scheme. Don’t get me wrong I drove a model y and loved it. Basically Tesla teases a new product, start taking down deposits for said product, uses the money from the down deposits the fund the previous project he was talking about, old previous product comes out, Tesla has no money to start making the new product, comes up with new idea, sells preorders for it, and uses the preorder to fund the first product I was talking about. The cycle keeps working as long as he has a new idea that he can sell. Wild guess is he is using the roadster money to fund the Tesla Semi right now.

FreudianYipYip 2025-11-03 00:41

Shut up and take my money!

skyfire-x 2025-11-03 01:06

Duke Nukem Forever was released in 2011 after 14 years of development hell.

k-mcm 2025-11-03 01:20

Project delayed to add flying capability.

Sad_Lock_592 2025-11-03 01:41

Will people get there money back?

Dopecantwin 2025-11-03 02:02

Look at how long they've waited for the FSD lies to come true.

beren12 2025-11-03 02:28

And still haven’t

base2-1000101 2025-11-03 04:03

Also FSD, the Semi, and robots that will magically do all my chores.  But that stock isn't going to pump itself...

ChollyWheels 2025-11-03 04:39

You got it! : )

bevo_expat 2025-11-03 06:09

They are still looking at integrating an actual thruster valve into the car. Like one of the same valves from the Falcon 9.

pissoutmybutt 2025-11-03 06:58

Im a big fan of the modular design of the scouts. I really think the aftermarket mods market will be incredible. There seems to be a lot of excitement around them. Is Tesla too caught up on trying to sell themselves as a luxury brand to try and emulate that? How do they have that amount of resources and have absolutely no real next move even thought aboot

HumptyDee 2025-11-03 07:13

Apparently, nearly everyone took your advice with the CyberTurd.

xtothewhy 2025-11-03 07:32

I forgot there was a Tesla roadster. But that seems to be part of the strategy now I think. And then it either reappears as something new or just fades away into obscurity as they let it go without any fuss and little headlines that talk about it.

Brilliant-Lettuce544 2025-11-03 22:17

techincally more the half a decade ago. 2017 is 1 year and a few months away from being 10 years ago

capital_folly 2025-11-04 04:31

The Roadster delays aren’t logistical anymore, they’re narrative management. Every missed release reinforces the myth of “the next big Tesla,” which keeps belief alive even when delivery stops.

Turbulent-Phone-8493 2025-11-06 16:41

Class action lawsuit when?

Dude008 2025-11-07 03:56

Did Elon ever say it was going to come out in 2020? Or was it "next year" for 10 years like FSD?
