The goal post have moved on to the next vaporware and fanboys are eating it up.

fossilnews 2025-09-19 22:44

You mean the two door gullwing design isn't a good idea for a taxi? Truly a genius that Elon.

LVegasGuy 2025-09-19 22:46

The way this works is that it is always the next thing that is going to be massive and justify the valuation. It was going to be FSD then Robotaxis then the Cybertruck then a lower priced vehicle. Next humanoid robots and AI. You know Elon is thinking about flying Teslas.

WildFlowLing 2025-09-19 22:46

I mean it’s the expected Elon behavior. Once he gets his payday he stops working.

mrbuttsavage 2025-09-19 22:49

We've moved onto the next thing to pump the stock already. Tesla at one point was a car company. Then an energy company. Then a robotics company. Now an AI company. All while continuing to make 90%+ revenue on cars and car services.

pdubbs87 2025-09-19 22:50

I’m amazed that the big funds have been complicit in this scam for so long. For years they hammered Google if sundar sneezed but Elon is literally getting high and dreaming nonsense

Diogenes256 2025-09-19 22:50

No wait, ROBOTS! That’s it! Robots on Mars? Hmmmm.

[deleted] 2025-09-19 22:50

ai and robots are the new hype for Tesla

GolfEmbarrassed2904 2025-09-19 22:54

I like how he never got FSD to work but somehow thinks he’s figured out robots

locknarr 2025-09-19 22:56

1 trillion dollars, please!

RosieDear 2025-09-19 22:56

He has...figured out how to make money from robots. He skips over the "mortal" parts of business and just collects the profits. It's very efficient.

kugelblitz_100 2025-09-19 22:56

Tesla stock up 5% on the news

GarlicSweaty4987 2025-09-19 22:57

1.4 trillion at this stock price

Grunge4U 2025-09-19 22:59

I have an account with Wedbush where Dan Ives is always trying to pump a Tesla. I told my broker a few weeks ago that Ives relationship with Tesla makes me not want to do business with them and to pass that on. It's almost like the funds have too much vested in Tesla to let it fail. When it does fall a lot of innocent people are going to go down with it because of this.

Dommccabe 2025-09-19 23:00

Why not keep defrauding investors??? It's worked well so far.

Bibblegead1412 2025-09-19 23:02

He's moved on to robots....🙄 the Ponzi scheme was getting too close for comfort to being exposed... on to the next project that he is woefully years behind on!!

Dommccabe 2025-09-19 23:03

More lies from the best con man who ever lived? He's got to be top 5 at least.

locknarr 2025-09-19 23:03

I was just referring to Musk's new pay deal that will get him $1 trillion if he successfully grifts his way towards meeting certain goals.

davidwitteveen 2025-09-19 23:04

Tesla isn't a car company, or an AI company, or a robot company. It's a stock-price company. That's why Musk was offered a trillion dollars if the stock price keeps rising, rather than if the company actually makes a profit.

ionizing_chicanery 2025-09-19 23:07

He certainly won't stop promising it any time soon. But as far as providing a compelling progress story goes he's given up years ago. The "We Robot" event and the Austin rollout was just more evidence of this. There might be more stunts and gimmicks coming but I wouldn't be that surprised if Tesla also pivots more to overhyping the value of supervised FSD.

dsmith422 2025-09-19 23:07

Didn't he already promise that with the Roadster 2?

jregovic 2025-09-19 23:09

You know what would be better than robotaxis? Roni buses that are orders of magnitude cheaper to operate than current buses, enabling large scale transport that covers a much wider area than current services with greater frequency. This technology COULD be used to revolutionize public transport and create transportation systems that are affordable and efficient. They could reduce the reliance on cars by leaps and bounds and make for better, denser neighborhoods. But no, let’s make a vehicle that only carries a few people at a time to a random point, call that a transit solution, and then act surprised when traffic is still stupid bad in 40 years.

bw984 2025-09-19 23:10

Now it’s an AI company but not Elon’s primary AI company.

FullMetalMessiah 2025-09-19 23:10

Yeah it's totally going to have rocket thrusters developed by space X bro. It will do 0-60 in 1 second!

Brave_Quantity_5261 2025-09-19 23:13

Tesla’s value is hype. He’s gotta keep the hype up. Literally sells hype. And when there’s no hype, they got to make more hype. Hype factory. Hype hype hype.

Icy-Piece-2906 2025-09-19 23:15

It’s all vaporware to prop up the stock price for him and his rich buddies

Clint888 2025-09-19 23:19

Everything is a con with Elon Musk. Everything.

Own_Reaction9442 2025-09-19 23:19

Robots are easier to control remotely, mechanical turk style, because in most applications reaction time is less critical. So he can fake that one more easily.

brintoul 2025-09-19 23:21

Don’t forget the solar roof! And the semi!

aced124C 2025-09-19 23:31

The only news I think anyone wants to hear is when he’s being prosecuted. If Trump is claiming that he helped rig the machines then that’s all I want to hear about

rellett 2025-09-19 23:31

its all about keeping the scam going, and releasing a crappy product or service allows him to say he did it and his cult will give him money, his cars cant even self drive in a tunnel he built.

Lacrewpandora 2025-09-19 23:32

boredofwheelchair 2025-09-19 23:42

The Market are fools to keep falling for the same thing

y4udothistome 2025-09-19 23:42

Yeah he said in an interview that 80% of Teslas the value is in Optimus. Instead of video games I think he sits at home kicking the can down the road all smoke and mirrors you wait till bottom falls out.

Eastern_Guess8854 2025-09-19 23:43

Lol and when they don’t make any money it’ll be snake oil that’s the next big thing

k-mcm 2025-09-19 23:46

Hyperloop and Neuralink

Ok_Excitement725 2025-09-19 23:52

Yeah that’s what I gather too reading between the lines of the roadmap they just released.

TheBurtReynold 2025-09-19 23:56

If Elon were to have a heart attack and pass, it could potentially crash the economy, seeing as TSLA would basically implode (jig would be up) and bankrupt some pensions Fucking wild.

Gildardo1583 2025-09-19 23:57

How about AI powered taco truck?

Gildardo1583 2025-09-19 23:58

Until the ketamine wore off.

Kindly-Web3356 2025-09-20 00:03

The thing though is that when TSLA was at these levels back in 2021, their car sales were booming (and the promise of sustained 20+% growth for years seemed attainable given that everyone thought the jump from ICE to EVs will be complete in 5-7 years). Tesla’s margins were spectacular and they were the only ones able to profitably sell EVs. And on top of that, there was the autonomous driving promise. Today we just have the robotaxi, with Optimus thrown in, which is vaporware for the most part. The $7500 credit is going away and the elimination of CAFE credits will significantly erode TSLA’s bottom line. TLDR there was real top and bottom line momentum in 2021 along with moonshot promises which somewhat justified the stock price, and all that remains today is the latter. I wonder how long it can continue.

roniadotnet 2025-09-20 00:08

How about FSD on Mars?

stoverex 2025-09-20 00:16

He hates cars and thinks robotaxi is the way out of the car business, but robotaxis are still cars, lol.

Fun-Crow6284 2025-09-20 00:17

Tesla stock is only go up!!

GolfEmbarrassed2904 2025-09-20 00:20

I have a Tesla so you can’t bs me. Also….the news, the lawsuits.

GolfEmbarrassed2904 2025-09-20 00:21

Like the Tesla board. Makes sense

Comprehensive-Ad2823 2025-09-20 00:27

It says you are still in control. There should be no lawsuits. Unless you have trouble reading, the software makes it clear that you as the licensed driver are responsible.

FlipZip69 2025-09-20 00:34

There have been 3 accidents already in about 2 months with only 12 vehicles on the road. These are not taxi type of problems but FSD problems of which most of the companies value is based on and what he says is ready. It is not ready. Now Tesla has the safety driver actually in the driver seat. The 3 accidents were minor with only one injury. But that rate is nowhere near being ready. And unlike other companies that have a working self driving taxi, Tesla completely hides the details of any accidents they have been involved in.

zvordak 2025-09-20 00:36

He was never serious

bASSdude66 2025-09-20 00:36

TheBlackUnicorn 2025-09-20 00:44

And specifically he gave up on getting FSD to work BEFORE attempting to build a Robotaxi.

DisastrousIncident75 2025-09-20 00:46

rbetterkids 2025-09-20 01:01

He never believed this would work. Just buy him time.

moocowsia 2025-09-20 01:07

Except in this case FSD stages for Feudal Serf Domination! You can work on billionaires estates on Mars with FSD!

sidc42 2025-09-20 01:08

The preorder page is still up!! Taking $50k deposits since 2017... https://www.tesla.com/roadster/reserve#payment

D74248 2025-09-20 01:15

Serious money was thrown at Theranos for 12 years. And all the family offices needed to do to know it was a fraud was to actually talk to someone educated in the field. The arrogance and overconfidence in the financial industry are incredible. I used to work for a public company and would listen to the investor calls, and it was clear that almost none of the analysists knew anything about the industry at hand.

GarlicSweaty4987 2025-09-20 01:18

My bad. When the trillions are flowing like water easy to slip up.

Grunge4U 2025-09-20 01:28

That's just not good enough. The courts have said that just calling it full self driving is far too misleading and Tesla is liable.

zitrored 2025-09-20 01:31

The markets are where the only genuine bots are trading this thing. They follow algorithms set for daily trading. Humans do similar. It’s all a ponzi

Yes, it frees up funds for AI. To the moon! lol

FlyingArdilla 2025-09-20 02:20

He's moved on to lying about something else.

Initial-External-709 2025-09-20 02:56

Even Tesla bulls know that Musk's statements are just lie. Elon Musk distracting investors from current problems with the company by making over-promises about the future.

meesobitcoin 2025-09-20 03:08

On to plan B. Let his robots drive the teslas.

ipanchev 2025-09-20 03:24

I think he is trying to bring some type of fascist regime to save his ass. He has some success by the way. With X he scared many people to vote Trump. Now he is with JD Vance for 2028 elections. USA is ripe for Venezuelization. Trump - Chaves, JD Vance - Maduro. If this happens, USA will be in chaos, the world in turmoil but the Felon Muzzcovy ass will be saved.

Youngnathan2011 2025-09-20 03:38

Why’d you contradict yourself?

Ok_Subject1265 2025-09-20 04:01

What’s crazy though is everyone knows this is a fraud, but sort of just collectively shrug and buy in anyway. Everyone is sure they won’t be left holding the bag.

Pure-Method3982 2025-09-20 04:08

Elmo - "Autonomous driving and robotics are essentially the same problem of a machine navigating space, so when you solve one you essentially solve both." We're right around the corner!

lucidludic 2025-09-20 04:25

I assume you mean automated buses? I don’t see how they would be “orders of magnitude” cheaper when one bus driver can handle a route that accommodates so many passengers. Also, bus drivers have a lot of important responsibilities besides driving such as assisting disabled passengers, collecting fares, handling situations with unsafe passengers… Automating a large vehicle is also harder to do safely, particularly one that operates near pedestrians routinely. Public transportation is largely a solved problem with traditional buses, metro, and trains. All extremely efficient vs cars.

Xollector 2025-09-20 04:31

Then it’s neural link but this time to Optimus robots so you can go out like movie surrogate in your robot avatar and do godknows what, maybe even become a safety driver for a robotaxi ;)

ChollyWheels 2025-09-20 04:55

\> And all the family offices needed to do to know it was a fraud was to actually talk to someone educated in the field. Yes. I can confirm that. I have client who was a blood chemist, and he said people in the field always knew Theranos was nonsense. In addition, when THeranos was actually setting up blood testing, an expert hired by Walgreens (I think) was very dubious. So he was fired. And the testing went ahead, giving useless results.

BuckChintheRealtor 2025-09-20 05:56

80% valuation based on a clumsy robot that can hardly move but is also a [slow thinker](https://youtube.com/shorts/mOIxtSSa1NE?si=WPV4twBWXOh7O785)? Tesla is doomed.

peakedtooearly 2025-09-20 06:04

If the preorder page was taken down he'd have to admit failure and there might be an impact on the stock as people notice the smoke and mirrors.

StanchoPanza 2025-09-20 06:19

Next up is Transformers. Your Robotaxi will be Bumblebee.

Dynasty3310 2025-09-20 06:19

lol, are star link and spaceX cons then?

Dynasty3310 2025-09-20 06:22

Yea, that return landing space rocket was a hoax! Oh and those low orbiting internet satellites… A sham!

Conscious-Bee-5691 2025-09-20 06:42

Is there any AI product or is he trying to Sell the word AI?

Happiness-to-go 2025-09-20 06:50

Tesla has always been a small car company attached to a massive Ponzi scheme.

Budget-Bench-6202 2025-09-20 06:57

The guy just watches 1960's cartoons like the Jetsons and Astroboy, steals the ideas and tells everyone he's a genius inventor. Surely at some point in the distant future it'll all work? Just send him your money already!

Hadleys158 2025-09-20 07:17

I bet a lot of these products could have been built in spite of elon rather than because of him, with his endless changing of goal posts and adding pointless things like make the cyber truck bullet proof, make it float etc etc.

Dommccabe 2025-09-20 07:46

Yes. Also, have a look at how much public dollars went into spaceX - what did the taxpayer get for it?

HappyAmbition706 2025-09-20 08:01

He's nowhere remotely close to making money from robots. He's propping up and increasing the stock price he borrows against with the idea that robots will someday be a big business and profitable. As long as there are plenty of people willing to be conned, it works. That is to say, he can keep this charade going for decades longer.

DanlovesTechno 2025-09-20 08:01

But he does rally enough cultists around him that will keep dropping money whenever he does a stunt, like the one last week with the 1 bn buyout. When the institutions figure out that the bubble will finally burt and get their capital out, it will come crumbling down and they will be left with empty bags.

Awww shit, you're right. That was a great scam. Have Tesla funnel money to another company owned by Musk for zero return for Tesla Shareholders.

Dear_Smoke6964 2025-09-20 09:33

Is it just me or is this fsd thing being tackled in a totally backwards way?  Surely you would need the traffic signals and signs, and the roads themselves, to have some kind of electronic component in them that could communicate with vehicles.   When you have that you can build proper "smart"  vehicles that would be relatively easy to designand build.  And much safer. A bunch of independent,  autonomous cars sharing a dumb road with regular traffic and pedestrians is just a lot of engineering for an imperfect solution.  Maybe my solution doesn't have enough 'ai' in it.

That was a very specific demo designed to make Tesla's eligible for a government subsidy that was supposed to exclude EVs. The subside required the ability to refuel in 5 minutes or less or something like that. That was Elon's one genuine talent... scanning the government for subsidy cash.

AustrianMichael 2025-09-20 12:45

Ouch259 2025-09-20 13:19

The grift will end when the money drys up. Neither Optimus or Robotaxi’s will generate any profits for the next 10 years and the cash cow (the car business), is collapsing because of a lack of investment. The old statement applies here. “How did you broke, slowly at first and then all of a sudden”

Hellothere_1 2025-09-20 13:41

On the one hand kinda. On the other hand signs and traffic signals are generally the *least* challenging aspects of self driving cars. Detecting a limited set of bright, high contrast, easily differentiable symbols in a camera image is basically a solved problem. Cars can still miss signs or traffic lights if they happen to be partially obscured or broken, or the lighting conditions are bad. In these cases your proposal would help, however, it would also raise the question how the vehicle is *ever* supposed to deal with more difficult problems like detecting a child about to run onto the road or, temporary roadblocks, or a random object that fell off some vehicle, if you've already given up on the much simpler problem of just detecting a clearly recognizable sign.

BigMax 2025-09-20 14:41

What if, like Tesla, you solve neither?

Dommccabe 2025-09-20 15:45
