I use CarPlay - should I turn BYD’s WiFi on?

bucky_o_hare_ | 2025-12-10 09:31 | 26 views

I have my iPhone connected via CarPlay at all times to my Sealion 7 (just got it today). In the BYD system settings menu, if I go to toggle on WiFi it warn ‘Enabling WiFi affects wireless Apple CarPlay function’. So should I leave it off?

You can always leave wifi turned off, as it has no effect on the connection. If you connect your phone to the car and use car play, the network of your mobile phone will be used anyway. If you only want to update your vehicle, you should use the car's WLAN and connect to the Internet of your mobile phone to save the 1gb mobile catch of the vehicle, if your mobile phone tariff allows it. At least that's how I understand it.

You only need to turn WiFi on it you want to connect the car to a wireless network, such as to watch YouTube or use the browser.

All updates are not countered in the free data. Best to leave the 4G connected. It also allows the app access to the car.
