Waymo starts testing in Denver, Seattle in bid to expand robotaxi service across U.S.

The competition for Tesla is continuing to accelerate the pace of deployments. Tesla hasn't even applied for a license in California. Elon has boxed himself into a corner with his half-baked robotaxi sham and the clock is ticking.

Waymo for the win. Teslas geo-fence big appendage has gone lamp.

What is Tesla waiting for in california? Are they hoping that cali will just relax the rules for them?

Only possible explanation is expecting federal action that has been discussed to 'nationalize' the rules for autonomous vehicles, eliminating California's rigorous licensing process. Since Trump hates California, that would be his first target. Elon likely had this as one of his 'quid-pro-quo' demands for his $300M in donations to Trump. The other one was eliminating the requirement to report FSD accidents to NHTSA, which was recently 'adopted'.

if tesla release robotaxi in california they are probably required to release disengagement data. And if data isn't good, it'll make them look bad. I think tesla is just focusing in doing its own thing, making best generalized autonomous driving system for consumer car.

Tesla breaking the odds. Who could have thought you could be a company but have -60% YoY sales, and still exist!?

Waymo is also geo fenced.

Tesla has not even bothered to apply for a robotaxi permit in California. The fanboys will blame politics, but the truth is Tesla needs to app,y for a permit before they can get it. The reality is, unlike Waymo, Tesla technology is similarly not good enough to meet the requirements for getting a robotaxi permit in CA, so they don’t bother to apply.

It’s getting harder and harder for the fanboys to deny that Waymo is years ahead of Tesla in the robotaxi department but some will find a way to deny anyway.

“The clock is ticking”?  What the fuck is that supposed to mean? The clock struck midnight on Tesla years ago. Only the True Believers think they’re going to pull off autonomy.

If they apply and get rejected they can't blame waiting for regulatory approval. If they don't apply they can say they are waiting for regulatory approval and the stans won't be the wiser.

Our Governor in Colorado is a huge proponent of getting Waymo in Denver. I'll be one of the first to try it when they get to that point. I've seen them in action  in San Francisco and they look awesome.

Waymo actually going to a city with snowfall that lingers should be interesting. Isn't there another place like that with Waymo? Boston?

is Tesla like Theranos?
