Sealion 7 - 3.1.0 update opinions

konradstr | 2025-12-07 17:02 | 32 views

Hi what's are your opinions on new improved ICC? It is a little bit better. In my opinion it is way better at handling turn in a road, but generally this is the last thing that is pretty poor in EU version of sealion 7. It still works poor on traffic, and still it is hard to predict if ICC will turn on or is it stay at ACC. Love the car but would love to see a better version of ICC. Do you know is there any plans for improvement for this system? Whats your opinions on ICC on new 3.1.0 update? Is there any plans maybe for level 3 autonomy for this car?

I don't have the update but regarding this: "hard to predict if ICC will turn on or is it stay at ACC." God damn I hate that there is NO sound/vibrations notifications when the ICC turn off!!! It already turned off in a curve and you need to quickly react... Even Tesla have a sound alert ... Come on BYD.

Yeah its pretty much not usable. I had a Kia EV6 before and overall the assistant systems where so much better and more reliable. It would even distinguish between normal lane markings (white) and yellow/orange ones (in construction) zones. I drove through several on them on a German autobahn with ease in the Kia. Same route with the BYD and it turns on and off at dangerous spots - super annoyed by it.

Indeed, first there were long and annoying sounds for everything and now it's completely quiet :s

It's way better than pre 3, but still needs a lot of work. Car slows down way too fast when it spots a car in front, a warning (visual or something) when it spots a car and a few seconds before it slows down the car would be handy so I can divert to another lane. Otherwise the car slowed down too much before I noticed

yes. currently this is the most frustrating thing. Slowing down way toooo soon and way tooo hard.

Curious why you got rid of the EV6? Even my 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe has better lane keep than my BYD.

Well I didn‘t want to but had to. It‘s a company car. We switched from traditional leasing to FINN car subscriptions. Before I had a BMW for years leased through the company. Then the new company policy was also to go fully electric. Because I was sceptic I wanted to try out car for a while, instead of leasing it for 3 years and kinda get the cat in the bag. When I asked HR they said cars at FINN can be extended, so I only got it for 6 months to try. Then at the end I was told I cannot extend and had to pick a new one. Theres always a limited amount of vehicles available right away, so it was either the Skoda Enyaq (but the older model), didnt like the looks and the BYD sealion 7, which had the better specs (at least on paper). Now I have the BYD and really miss the EV6.

This car already has amazing self driving capacity in Chinese market, the middle version of God’s Eye. Check this video and judge for yourself: https://youtu.be/d7PQf-prb8s However, we still have traditional ICC. Maybe BYD won’t overly invest in ICC when they already have superior tech offered at no extra cost. Let’s see.

I dont even use icc.

Unfortunately this is the version with lidar which is not available outside china :/

That’s what i meant. The god’s eye hardware is different currently only in Chinese market

My experience is biased because of the highly curvy mountain road I tested the new update on. I enabled the feature that slows the car down in curves. It works both in ACC and ICC. I was expecting this to be proactive (could have been using the cameras or GPS maps), but nope! It uses the steering wheel sensors to know there's a curve. So it doesn't slow before the curve, but once you're already in it. The fact that it slowed down to 45 km/h is another subject... I had to keep my foot on the accelerator pedal to get it moving faster, but the car kept "braking" and it was a harsh drive. This was a road I would not be using ACC tho, so please keep this in mind!!! Cruise control on back country mountain roads is not recommended. I want to test the feature on my way to work, there the ICC would sometimes disengage with previous versions. But that will have to wait for some weeks...
