Those lights are ugly
It looks pretty ugly
Who cares...its a taxi
Its a taxi, who cares what it looks Ike.
But why make it so ugly?
Didn't see a steering wheel... Interesting
True
I really want one but can I install a steering wheel as an add on option? This is a great short distance driver! Small and fun like a mini.
Because it isn't a vanity piece like other cars. It's a tool. Tools should be designed to be effective and efficient, not necessarily pretty.
Those rear wheels look ridiculous. Would look way better with wheels that actually fit the proportions of the car
Sheesh, that is one butt-ugly car
Why do people think this is a car you buy and drive?
Oh, Tesla didn't have anyone working on the aesthetics of this vehicle whatsoever? Doesn't seem like something they would do, but looking at it that does make more sense.
Two seater with limited cargo space. This is what an efficient cab looks like?
Has mini cybertruck vibes from the rear
Which includes the seats that were designed to be cleaned easily, not pretty or really comfortable. Think checker cab.
the gaps, the hub cover 🤢
Because Elon said retail could but it.
How many people take a cab somewhere? Most times it's one or two people.
95% of taxi/Uber rides are one or two passengers and it has a large cargo space. If someone needs more you get a Model Y.
For retail fleets. Only 1% of cars sold in the US are 2 seaters. Virtually no one is buying this for personal use.
More space.
What's the point of a 2 people taxi
Can't they make hammers and chainsaws more attractive?
How do massive panel gaps make it a better tool?
Remember, this is the car company that makes the Cybertruck.
I thought this was supposed to be for sale to the consumer?
Is a glass rear window really that expensive?
Wonder if the guy inside has like a little Xbox controller or something lmao
Because they want more Tesla sales growth.
PS5 controller?
Most taxi rides are one or two passenger if I were to hazard a guess.
I don't think Tesla ever mentioned that.

Hopefully it never falls into the ocean.

WTF with these wheels? LMAO
How many taxis are 2 seaters? Who’s buying this for their fleet?
As a passenger, how often are you looking out the rear window? It's a driverless car, I'm OK with it not having a rear window. If anything, it affords the passengers more privacy so less people staring in at you.
Yes, just like a Model Y is more suitable if you need 3 passengers and cargo. Why add more than you need when other vehicles in your fleet are already designed to handle those less frequent cases of needing more space? It's quite literally more efficient to have smaller and more efficient cybercabs handle the majority of trips and have the larger vehicles like 3/Y handle cases where the user needs more seats or cargo.
It's a prototype, but even so how are those panel gaps affecting the usability of the tool?
This doesn't seem to be efficient or effective lol. It's got all sorts of weird panels that seem unnecessary. There's no rear view window which is an incredibly basic thing that all cars have and should have, even if they're going to drive themselves people should be able to see out the window and kick it out if necessary during a crash. This is like how Teslas apparently don't have obvious door handles, it seems like a really basic safety feature that appears to be lacking because of some weird desire to have this thing look "Cyber" themed. And the Cyber Truck flopped by all metrics, so the choice to use that design vs existing successful Tesla designs is also not the brightest choice. For example, a NYC cab is relatively boring but iconic at this point. Everyone who goes to NYC knows that's a taxi cab and you can hail it if you need a ride. This thing is just weird looking. And even tools should look, at least, half decent. My cordless drill isn't sexy, but it's quite practical and there's no extra or poorly designed features about it. If you can easily see strange design choices in a tool, it's not a well designed tool then.
This reels of Elon's input, since they're using the Cyber theme that already flopped on the Truck. So yeah, no doubt this will turn out to be directed by Elon, skipping over the normal design process they probably have.
It should still look well designed. A NYC taxi cab may be ugly, but it's iconic and makes sense. Also has more seats than this thing, while not being much bigger.
Iirc 86%
Asking "How many taxis are 2 seaters?" is the wrong question. Try "How many vehicle miles traveled are in cars with 2 or less passengers?" instead. > Who’s buying this for their fleet? What fleet operator wouldn't want to replace the cost of their drivers? Also, this isn't the only car Tesla makes. The fleet operators can by Cybercabs, Model 3, and Model Y for whatever they feel is best for their fleet. Heck they can even have a mix of vehicles so a single rider can get a cheaper cybercab while a family can order a model Y.
Why does a taxi need the extreme aero. It’s going to spend most of its time under 40 mph.
Panel gap looks good.
I'd consider it when my daughters are older and I want a car I can send to pick them up at 3am from a party and send it out to make money during the day. It's likely that by the time they come to the age where they'd learn to drive it'll all be redundant because these cars will be driving everyone anywhere they want.
Is it weird that I like the look? Lol.
You're not looking out that tiny window when being driven around. Odds are you will be looking at the screen a vast majority of the time (Youtube, Netflix, etc).
Lol. so short sighted. Most taxi fares would be less than or equal to 2 passengers. There's no driver required so it's perfect based on the average.
There are plenty of people that are able to make good tools that also don’t look like garbage, hope this helps
There is no chance they actually do this. They had a 17% drop in car sales revenue in 2025.
Asking "How many vehicle miles traveled are in cars with 2 or less passengers?" is the wrong question. Try asking “How many vehicle miles traveled are in cars with 2 or **fewer** passengers?" instead. ;)
Ok so the only answer to your question, "How do massive panel gaps make it a better tool?" Is that it looks better. Got it. It's also idiotic to criticize panel gaps on a prototype. Even Doug Demuro said as much when reviewing the new Rivian pre-production model ~~prototype.~~
Why not make it three? It has no driver tf
Lol, thanks for giving me a smile in this toxic thread. ;)
Mhmm, very nice. Let's see all safety data for FSD.
The hammer and chainsaw industries don't hire some of the best paid designers on the planet to design their products.
You can do both. This car looks disgusting. Even the color sucks.
People who don't want to see thousands of ugly cars on the road
Seems to me this is a workhorse taxi you hire to take you from A to B. If it's not my car I really don't care what it looks like on the outside as it's not something I'm flexing or showing off to friends and family. It's a rental.
Elon is running this company into the ground. Stop focusing on dipshit ideas and focus on the meat and potatoes of the cars. Also this is definitely going to be regulated out of business when states finally pry the unredacted safety data from Teslas hands and see how dangerous FSD is. I've ridden in waymo and fsd and the difference is huge.
If you have the choice to have something pretty on the road and something ugly, you'd be pretty stupid to pick ugly. [Sometimes only prioritizing functional makes our entire society look like shit.](https://x.com/i/status/1625870735708241920)
Of course "pretty" and "ugly" are highly subjective. My choice would be the car that picks me up the fastest. Waymos, with all their ugly hardware, are in real demand where I live, and extremely popular. And I don't think trains, subways, or airliners are particularly pretty. I have no issue with the way this car looks. You of course can hang out and choose the taxi that looks the best to you.
See comment below. 86% of taxi fares are 2 or less people!
First thing I noticed
?
When my daughter went to college I put my credit card on her Waymo account. I didn’t want her to get in Ubers with random strangers.
Original and extremely funny 😂😂😂😂🙏🙏🙏🫣🫣🤩🤭🤭🤭💪
I will, use it to commute to work. Perfect.
Imagine making a two door taxi. This is the creation of people who don’t understand taxis… or humans.
Put a steering wheel on this and i’ll replace my M3 with this
True but, camera's don't shine at seeing reversing lights of other cars in parking lots.
The Tesla nav/camera system isn't good at seeing backup lights of other cars. I still have to check.
> 95% of taxi/Uber rides are one or two passengers Where did you get that stat from? Also, that would surprise me if that’s true outside the US, where presumably they want to sell these things. If it’s one or two people, most people would just take the train. Meanwhile those getting cabs are large groups or families.
How would that be relevant to a self driving car though? They either need to figure it out, or it won’t work. Adding back glass won’t change that.
You do realize NYC taxis utilize dozens of different models right? Do you also realize Tesla makes larger models like the 3 and Y? Why are so many people refusing to use their brain before posting here.
It's the first prototype, the newer versions have much more normal wheel design.
Because they already make the Model 3/Y if you need more than 2.
It's the first prototype so gaps are expected on a hand built car. The hub covers are also not seen on the newer versions. Glad I can clear that up for you.
Do you not drive on the freeway when you go places? The vast majority of my ride would be freeway if I wanted to go downtown for a ballgame or even just go to work. Edit: It apprears /u/Master_Dogs blocked me leaving me unable to respond to their comments anymore. I'll include my response in the edit. > Taxis generally do not hit the freeway outside of stuff like airport pickups. NYC taxis for example are constantly on City streets. It's an odd design, you don't need to defend it constantly. Autonomous vehicles are ultimately a replacement for personal vehicles, not the new Uber/Taxi. You are thinking far to small.
It's the initial prototype. The newer versions do not have this design.
Saw one in Chicago driving down Ashland in Lakeview today.
Well between trips the cybercab will be driving with 0 people. I feel the fact that these cars are spending driving between trips to be wasteful and just adds more vehicles to the already crowded roads.
You realize they already make the Model 3 and Y? What's wrong with a 2 seater in addition to larger models? The vast majority of car tips are solo. I think it is you who doesn't understand the market for transportation.
Yeah that’s solid parenting right there!
How is that any different than taxis and ubers driving without a fare? They don't just materialize out of thin air when needed.
They are poking fun at the tragic death of 4 people and one idiot in the OceanGate disaster. The submarine was famously piloted by a Logitech controller.
You're the first person in this post being "negative" I actually agree with. On top of the additional unoccupied miles, Robotaxis will dramatically increase the general demand for going places. It will be so easy to hop in, watch some moves, take a nap, and wake up the Grand Canyon that people will be inspired to travel all sorts of places. I strongly believe State and Local governments will create geo-fenced zones which will tax robotaxis based on miles traveled to try to combat traffic. They will have different milage tax rates depending on the zone they are in and will have decreasing rates based on occupancy to incentivize more people into one vehicle.
Skynet is coming...soon.
Tesla would be so much more of a car company without Elon.
I live in the bay area. How do I book a trip in this?
https://preview.redd.it/mf9t136uyclg1.jpeg?width=1122&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5dd3acd253d8098b2db7f0b66ed9bbc8a3a45a4c Why not
No side mirrors either
They’re exiting cars… remaining models are in maintenance mode, cash cows eventually end-of-lifed. Sub should be renamed r/teslamemestonk
Curious, but why would this be a good design for a cab. It only fits two people and what about things like luggage?
Cab is rolling on 22” wheels
Is there a reason for such a large rear tire?
Yet the Cyber Truck didn't change designs. This is "Cyber" branded. It's almost certainly what they're going for. It has all the hallmarks of what Elon thinks is cool, but most of us think is ugly.
Taxis generally do not hit the freeway outside of stuff like airport pickups. NYC taxis for example are constantly on City streets. It's an odd design, you don't need to defend it constantly.
Why do you need to see them? You are not driving... the car is
I’m pretty sure you just described Elon’s idea for the Model 3 in… 2017.
One thing you can always count on in the early-mid……current production models
The average person doesn’t care in the slightest about a taxi’s design. Its sole purpose is to drive them to their destination.
Well the same person came up with the Cybertruck. Maybe there’s nobody left at Tesla that can tell him some of his ideas are ridiculous.
I'm betting there will be steering wheels, or there will be no volume sales.
Oh FFS, you realize these aren't being built on an assembly line yet?
So it’s not just me.
.. I think they are https://x.com/elonmusk/status/2023831190302847088

The ones with the black lines on the door are the preproduction prototypes that have been driving around a few weeks I believe. None of production line models have been spotted with that decal yet it seems likely this one is pre production
No. Honda CR-V vibes
Lots of luggage room in trunk 95+% of rideshare rides are 1-2 people Tesla already has 10m+ 4 seat cars
Who cares? If it's my car, which I pay for, that's one thing. If it's a taxi which picks me up - I couldn't care less.
Is it unsupervised or supervised? There’s a person in the driver’s seat!! I am confused
ok
But why do you need to check? You are not driving...
As the other comment said. Lots of luggage space, 95% of rides are 2 people or less.
That would defeat the entire purpose though.
So exciting cannot wait to see those little gold two seats all around the world
Smart Marketing
The vehicles are getting uglier and uglier
Doesn't mean that came off an assembly line.
> They had a 17% drop in car sales revenue in 2025. So? Economies and industries ebb and flow. There are large external pressures.
This is one of the OG prototypes from the reveal. It's over a year old and has some outdated design elements from the newer prototypes.
It's definitely giving "camouflage" wrap that the automakers use to vaguely disguise vehicles (and turn heads) on public roads.
The personal taxi market is smaller than the car sales market.
Ah yes, if only he had your forward-looking vision.
Why wouldn’t a cyber cab have four doors? Wouldn’t that make more sense?
Nothing screams machinery that’s safe to trust my life with, like shoddy exterior construction.
Sweet
Ohhh. Thanks for giving an honest straight answer.
Cardboard car
Cut it off
The V\_001 designation is interesting - suggests this is still very early prototype territory. No steering wheel visible from this angle, which means it's either fully autonomous in this test or there's some hidden manual control we can't see. The form factor actually looks more production-ready than I expected. The proportions are clean and it doesn't scream "prototype" like most self-driving test vehicles do. Curious about the sensor suite - is it running pure vision or do they have LiDAR hidden somewhere? That debate never ends in the AV space but it matters a lot for cost per unit at scale.
Is this the production version?
Here's some forward thinking for you: I won't email the famous child rapist begging to go to his child rape island.
This has happened every time tesla launches a new model. It's a side effect of the way they scale up production and so far has always disappeared as soon as sales figures stabilise or earlier. If you dont like panel gaps don't buy a brand new model tesla. They are so far from the only company to have teething issues with new models
Yeah imagine putting your safety in the hands of a egotistical charlatan. That could go badly.
No, you learn about manufacturing and assembly tolerances, and do it better next time.
tesla has said it's been engineered to be incredibly efficient in every aspect. extreme aero means less drag, better range
design is subjective, you don't need to attack it constantly
I saw a Tesla cybertruck today that has the robotaxi logo on it. Is that supposed to happen?
You got down voted for putting a question mark. Reddit isn't a real place lmao
Also don't buy a new model white Tesla. Unless you like different shades of white.
If you're just going to ignore 17% decline in sales, there is nothing I can say to you.
Even cars that aren't have better panel gaps than that.
How big are those wheels?
It's hideous.
So don't. There will be enough who will.
So what happen when it needs to be towed and have to turn the wheels?
But I guess the cybercabs aren't mass produced yet.
I didn’t know 5 seater cars couldn’t sit only 2 people! Must be new science.
What are you on about? 95% of taxi/rideshare drives are 2 people or less. Thats what it is about. And for the orher 5% Tesla has thousands of Model Ys
Ah yes, the 2 seat cab… Maybe most taxis in the US only have one or two people but most taxis in Europe take more. Reason being is that if you are one person you will mostly likely just take public transport. However they could just sell enough in the US to make it work 🤷♂️
I doubt that data will get released. Elon made sure to gut the areas of the CPB and DOT that police him.
The panel gaps. Tho
The textures didn't load, the game thinks you're far from the car.
painting the tyres to match the wheel trims is such a weird choice
At first I thought that was one of those homemade cars made of cardboard with that colour.
My kids are starting to get a little older, but I would totally keep one of these at the house for school drop offs, pick ups, practices, etc. Oh you need a ride? I’ll send the car. Two seats perfect for these things and limits liability.
I didn't think they could make Tesla any worse looking, but they managed it.
So they can fit a smaller battery in the car and keep it cheap.
He can't gut California, not yet at least
