Intel Update - More Santa, No Tron

Tron mode was cool for about 30 seconds. You aren’t missing anything not having it.

As others have said, Tron mode was pretty gimmicky and most of us disabled it pretty immediately. Felt more like in-car advertising than anything else.

I'd love to be annoyed by it and turn it off. 😆

Tron also got no attention in theaters lol. As a fellow Intel owner, I don't really care about these and other cosmetic updates as long as I get the good under-the-hood updates.

This. I had a Model Y loaner while my car was getting the front skid plate replaced. I turned it on and thought it was cool for about 8.71 seconds then turned it off the moment I heard how it changed the audio for the turn signal to something from space invaders.

Tron mode, Santa mode, who cares? How about improve the responsiveness of the UI, better dash cam viewer, more reliable streaming apps, a way to actually clear recents, more intermittent wiper intervals (I'm not going to even mention auto wipers; that ship sailed 6 years ago), and a website dashboard so I can actually do things without having to use the mediocre phone app for literally everything (oh, and a better, more responsive phone app).

Did you get the Tron lock sound in intel?

Did you buy used? Some people remove them. It literally was required by the NHTSA at the end of 2019. edit: I see you're Australia. That's the problem, your speaker is above the car not underneath.

Santa mode is cute but the jingle bells turn signal sound gets real old real fast. I wish that could be disabled but keep the rest of the graphics

Thing is, turning it on was completely optional in the first place… Nothing was ever forced on anyone. (Unlike with real ads) It’s literally an Easter Egg that happens to relate to the same 80s movies that have always been a Tesla theme. Anyone unable to see the difference between this and an actual ad is completely delusional

Tron is so ass

I loved the Tron features, so does my kids, the only complaint I have is with the indicator signal noise being matched to the cars speaker volume and the fact that you can't launch it without the music if you already have a playlist going (actually maybe you can) but it's a fun vibe, I like the album anyways so not that bad of a deal for me.

Yeah, the blinker sound was annoying and I actually look at my car on the screen just for rough reference to my surroundings and just didn’t like the bike representing my car.

Imagine if the car had a Jared Leto mode.

Same. Turned off Santa mode after two turns using voice controls.

Tron for 5mins was cool then it was annoying. The indicator noise was awful. It should be seasonal etc

The Santa update was cool in my loaner but only get free FSD in my H4 so at least you got Santa mode for the holidays. The Tron mode is really only cool for the lock sound which you can download. The bike on the screen is neat for a little bit but it gets annoying after awhile because it doesn't represent the car when parking etc so you will end up turning it off.

If Tesla was paid by Disney (or any associated entity), then it was effectively an ad. There's zero evidence of payments though. However, no one is using Disney's IP, especially during a major movie release, without legal agreements on IP usage and direct cooperation between teams (Disney is going to be directly involved in how a Tron theme is executed). Was Tesla paid for this? Did Disney simply cover costs? No one knows, but at the very least there was strong cooperation between Tesla and Disney because of how law and IP works.

Agree completely. Previous Santa mode was charming! This Tron thing is ugly / scary. I don't know or care about Tron ANYTHING. I wait all year for Santa mode for the kids and now it's ruined. How can I revert to the previous version??? (There must be a way )

Santa mode before the FTC took the fun out of the speaker was great.

I mean… I think they did fix it, compared to the initial rollout? And it does fade out after a few seconds, rather than staying on the whole time you’re waiting to turn lol (I didn’t get it until after the “fix”, so I don’t know the exact details of what it was like before)

I can't believe that's how they decided to update Santa mode... My kids get excited every year when we put this on and they replaced Santa with a crappy Tesla Bot. Who besides an egotistical 54 year old with ASD would think that's an improvement?

True, both features seem to get a lot of hype but don't really address what many users want... it's frustrating when more practical updates are overlooked.

Indeed. Turned it off on the motorway as was using it a lot when overtaking etc. Weird thing is, I was thinking if it jingled 3 times and not 4 I’d be less bothered by it😂
