Extended Test Drive

Fast-Arachnid2779 | 2025-11-30 16:21 | 24 views

Has anyone seen an extended test drive for the BYD Seal in the UK. I took my current car for the normal 40 / 45 minute test drive and all seemed ok, now 10 months later what I mistake I have made. The little things you don’t always notice on a short test drive are now getting on my nerves and stacking up, plus all this issues with the technology, the recalls and the lack of dealership interest has made this one of the worst cars I have ever owned. I really like the look off the seal and the reviews seem on the whole very positive, I have done a 30 minute test drive but would like a 24 or 48 hour test drive if possible, once bitten and all that. Any help would be much appreciated.

Which is your current? Which car did it replace?

I had a test drive for a weekend. The only things I had real problems with was the small boot space and banging my head when I would lean forward. Otherwise, I loved the seal!

My dealer asked me to take the car for a weekend if I wanted to.

I miss the UK standard of extended test drives. In Australia, we get like 15 minutes. Edit: in Adelaide* Seems other cities are far better at this

Here in Perth WA, I’ve had no problems borrowing a Seal Performance, Sealion 7 Performance or Shark 6 for extended test drives ranging from overnight to the whole weekend. The only requirement was a different loan form due to different insurance requirements to the standard test drive policy.

My dealership let me go for about a 30-45 minute drive for my Sealion 6. That being said they had a deal on and it was mid July. It was close to end of day and weather was a bit gloomy so maybe he was being nice.

Really?! I've asked multiple times for dolphin or Atto 2 and been told it's not done. They told me to try and rent one through a rental company

I’m not aware of any recalls. Your complaints are very vague, most annoyances are software related, and either mandated by safety regulations or addressed with software OTA updates. Still would like drivers profile paired to the key fob though.

The issues I have are related to my current car not the byd seal

Ask the dealership. They likely will let you midweek. Explain your reasoning.

They're likely to oblige if you ask them. If a dealer says no, call the main BYD contact. They want to shift them so it is in their interest. I was initially confused by your comment as I thought you meant the Seal.
