Tesla 48 hour experience

Fantastic_Tomato7444 | 2025-05-23 01:08 | 907 views

Just saw this offer on the Tesla app and thought it’s pretty cool. Anyone already try this out?

Got the text and Going to the big city this weekend, may try this out for free'ish rental f a 1.5-dayish car.

Tellittomy6pac 2025-05-23 01:23

That’s pretty awesome

R5Jockey 2025-05-23 01:23

I don’t get the point of sending this to Tesla owners. We already know what they’re like. Although if someone wants to let me drive a Model S Plaid for 2 days….

fearrange 2025-05-23 01:23

A bit tempting to try out a Model X or Cybertruck for the weekend, but probably already too late to ask for one now 😆

mflboys 2025-05-23 01:27

Got an S Plaid for a loaner on my last service visit. Pretty cool, though I like my Highland better honestly.

Different-Art-5266 2025-05-23 01:28

It’s a pretty neat offer. I was debating on if I wanted to switch from my LR RWD to the new M3P. This might do the trick. What’s the mileage limit though?

2580374 2025-05-23 01:28

I think this is really cool. I would totally use a cybertruck for 2 days to take a road trip

R5Jockey 2025-05-23 01:31

A coworker swapped her Plaid for a Highland performance. Shes mad she ever bought the plaid… loves the M3P so much more.

boxsterjax 2025-05-23 01:32

Sounds like it’s to convince legacy model owners to upgrade so there’s less cars on the road with older tech that they would have to answer to and provide FSD upgrades.

Jonayyy 2025-05-23 01:33

How do I access this? Wouldn’t mind test driving the model Y for a couple days my mom wants one.

Fantastic_Tomato7444 2025-05-23 01:35

I saw it in the Tesla app messages

Jonayyy 2025-05-23 01:35

Thanks! Haven’t gotten it yet will be waiting

JustAnotherMortal69 2025-05-23 01:36

I got this and immediately thought about testing the Cybertruck or MS Plaid for a bit. No way I would buy either currently, but I always wanted to take them out and have some fun. A loaner might be the perfect setup. But it says based on vehicle availability, so they are probably going to try to push a Highland or Juniper on you instead.

Strangities 2025-05-23 01:36

I'd love this. Been thinking of picking up a Y.

EverythingMustGo95 2025-05-23 01:37

Cool! When you buy a new car do they tell you who had it for 48 hours? How many? Why did they pass on it? Will they discount it for you?

AquaShark00 2025-05-23 01:37

Anyone know when it expires? Would like to try a model S

varnell_hill 2025-05-23 01:38

You guys are getting loaners!?

meteoRock 2025-05-23 01:38

It was too annoying the last time I had a loaner Tesla. Everytime I got back in the car all the settings were reset to default demo mode.

jefferios 2025-05-23 01:40

I'm going to check out one of the expensive cars, I have a bare bones Model 3 SR+, I think I might do it when my Dad comes to town, pick him up in a Cybertruck or a Model S at the airport and see his reaction.

[deleted] 2025-05-23 01:41

[deleted]

duggatron 2025-05-23 01:41

They're not going to scrap the old ones, I think they're just trying to convince legacy owners they should try a newer one.

HazardousHD 2025-05-23 01:42

Hey OP, What Tesla vehicle do you currently have?

the-packet-catcher 2025-05-23 01:43

These would be “demo” cars. I doubt they would sell as new.

okelybokely 2025-05-23 01:44

Can anyone share the link?

Fantastic_Tomato7444 2025-05-23 01:46

2021 Model Y SR

seenhear 2025-05-23 01:47

Ooh I would love to demo a cyber truck for 48 hours! My APP is not offering me this. 🫤

seenhear 2025-05-23 01:49

Most demo cars for sale as inventory qualify for all new sales promotions. Regardless of mileage. It has to do with whether the vehicle has a previous registered owner.

EverythingMustGo95 2025-05-23 01:49

So they’ll be sold later at a big discount. Cool!

Ape_Escape_Economy 2025-05-23 01:49

RE: Lucid, the public investment fund of Saudi Arabia would like to have a word. Should be fine unless your name is Jamāl Aḥmad Khāshqujī and/ or you don’t like human rights violations in 2025.

QoLTech 2025-05-23 01:50

It just loads the locate Tesla store in the browser - nothing related to actually getting one.

VirtualLife76 2025-05-23 01:50

This is how you sell a good product. Use it and you will want it. Tesla isn't perfect, but it's better than many.

seenhear 2025-05-23 01:51

Rivian and GM too

DeathChill 2025-05-23 01:51

I booked the Cybertruck but the confirmation page doesn’t give me much encouragement. It says that drives are 30 minutes and the email says “based on availability” so I’m wondering if they’ll give it to me for 2 days.

BurnedInTheBarn 2025-05-23 01:51

Why is that? Isn't the plaid way more performant?

AnBu_JR 2025-05-23 01:51

As soon as I saw I had to go in store to schedule I was out. Let me schedule through app and do a drop off pick up with no interaction like the repair loaners

[deleted] 2025-05-23 01:52

[removed]

jgilbs 2025-05-23 01:52

I…very much doubt this is true. The S/X is just so much more car than the 3/Y.

angryguts 2025-05-23 01:56

I got an email about it today.

lionheart4life 2025-05-23 01:56

They have a way to cap the speed at 85.

Da_Spooky_Ghost 2025-05-23 01:57

My local Tesla center said I couldn’t do it on the weekends, also said they can’t sign people up until next week

fragment137 2025-05-23 02:00

Now wheres this offer for me (in Canada?)

R5Jockey 2025-05-23 02:00

lol. Ok.

R5Jockey 2025-05-23 02:01

She loves the ride quality and handling of the M3P compared to the Plaid.

special_agent47 2025-05-23 02:02

They’re also incredibly dated and drive like pigs on roller skates.

Lanky-Slice-9122 2025-05-23 02:02

The only one I haven’t driven that I’m considering is a model S long range. I’m waiting to see the refresh though since there is little incentive to buy now. Torn between that or waiting to see how the Rivian R2 does. Two wildly different vehicles, I know.

President_Connor_Roy 2025-05-23 02:03

I wonder how you sign up for this. The link leads to a sign-up for the usual 60 minute demo experience, at least for me…

stanley_fatmax 2025-05-23 02:03

I think the 3P was my favorite car to drive. Coming from an S, it felt like a feather.. so light, but still so fast. Not S fast obviously, but its speed combined with nimbleness made it so fun as a daily driver. I only got rid of it when my wife wanted a new Y. Point is I'd recommend it and I think you'll be very happy with it.

jbj153 2025-05-23 02:06

Not with regards to handling characteristics no. Only in a straight line.

jgilbs 2025-05-23 02:06

The S/X? The X is the smoothest car Ive ever driven. The 3 and Y feel like a Toyota Camry.

FluxionFluff 2025-05-23 02:07

🤣 me too, hilariously enough! Lowkey missed driving a full size sedan, but it was nice get back in my 3. Plaid is too much for me for a daily driver, even if I got an S. I do miss the door handles and hatchback tho. At the very least, why is the 3 the only one, besides Cybertruck, to not have a hatchback?

SpiritualCatch6757 2025-05-23 02:08

Cool! I've been contemplating an X. Would be a good test drive. Need that email.

Unknown-Personas 2025-05-23 02:08

Sounds like straight bullshit, the model s plaid has adaptive air suspension, the ride quality is vastly superior to the model 3 highland with standard spring suspension.

sermer48 2025-05-23 02:09

Sudden spike of model s plaid test drives incoming lol.

retromafia 2025-05-23 02:10

I'd buy an S over a 3 just for the hatchback.

OCR10 2025-05-23 02:11

I think they rushed this offer out without going through the details. The link just sends me to the general locations page but there’s no option to book a 2 day test drive.

whiteknives 2025-05-23 02:13

You have to go onto the Tesla showroom to book a 2 day trial.

DeathChill 2025-05-23 02:15

Sorry, I’m pretty dumb. Why the hell would they bother with a message in their app (not even an actual email) and then make you walk in to do it?

bigpoppa611 2025-05-23 02:15

Add a profile. If the car is super new it will be in the guest mode which erases everything after around 10mins parked

Snakend 2025-05-23 02:16

They are absolutely scrapping old ones. There are tens of thousands of used Teslas just sitting around not selling at $20k. Those cars are being stripped for parts.

Snakend 2025-05-23 02:16

You get a loaner if the issue is Tesla's fault.

Snakend 2025-05-23 02:17

It's really not. M3p is 0-60 in 3.1s.

whiteknives 2025-05-23 02:17

The problem isn’t his politics. The overwhelming majority of people out there who aren’t MAGA either have no clue who Elon is or they simply don’t care. The problem is interest rates, inflation, and wages that aren’t keeping up.

Snakend 2025-05-23 02:17

"smoothest" you're talking about the air suspension, not how it handles.

Snakend 2025-05-23 02:18

Get a Y if that's your feature.

OpinionPinion 2025-05-23 02:18

I booked it online, but can I just show up still and request the 2 day then?

Snakend 2025-05-23 02:18

pay twice as much for a vehicle to go 0-60 in 2.1 instead of 3.1 If you can throw away money to save a second, sure.

jgilbs 2025-05-23 02:21

Suspension is a big part of how it handles. 3/Y feel so much cheaper

whiteknives 2025-05-23 02:23

No. You have to book a 2 day trial in person.

gentlecrab 2025-05-23 02:27

They’re stripping them of their FSD packages. You can no longer buy a pre owned HW3 that comes with FSD. You have to sign up for the subscription if you want FSD after buying the car. This is so they’re not required to upgrade those cars to HW4/5.

byteboss91 2025-05-23 02:28

I went to my local center and they said they are not doing this because they had some incidents in the past, so some people ruined it for others. I’ll be checking another near by center tomorrow.

jv9mmm 2025-05-23 02:28

It makes sense to me. Between the federal tax credit and the Colorado tax credit, I can sell my current 2023 Model Y and get a brand new one for about the same cost. I have been weighing if it is worth it or not and trying a new one could be the impetus to pull the trigger.

enjoyvelvet 2025-05-23 02:28

Yea seriously. My MXP is second to none

DeathChill 2025-05-23 02:31

In the app! I’m in BC and it was in the messages section of the Tesla app.

ToastBalancer 2025-05-23 02:31

I immediately checked my app to see if I had it. I don’t. Damn. Would love to drive a model X around for a weekend

t3hWheez 2025-05-23 02:33

Ah yes more car debt!

varnell_hill 2025-05-23 02:36

Must depend on the service center because this definitely doesn’t match my experience. I would take my cars in for various warranty repairs over the years and I got a loaner exactly one time maybe four or five years back. After that, they started doing Uber credits, and eventually that went away too. So now when you drop a vehicle off you’re basically on your own and it doesn’t matter whether it’s a warranty issue or not. I even explained to Tesla that bringing the car in for service means I’m now incurring a cost because I have to pay for a ride everywhere, which can easily add up to a few hundred dollars over 2-3 days. The guy shrugged and said “we don’t have any loaners available,” which I find very hard to believe considering the lot is always full of unsold cars.

meteoRock 2025-05-23 02:37

Hm, I’ll have to try that next time. I thought there was a way to sync your own profile to a loaner or rental. Is that not a thing?

Grandpas_Spells 2025-05-23 02:39

To filter people out. They have fewer demos than people willing to take a car for 2 days.

wentwj 2025-05-23 02:40

it’s because they need to sell cars and their data shows existing Tesla owners are the most likely buyers with the brand being what it is today

bt2066 2025-05-23 02:41

As a plaid S owner, I encourage this decision.

bt2066 2025-05-23 02:42

Why is that? I have a Plaid S, been debating a quicksilver M3P

Fit_Preparation_9742 2025-05-23 02:42

I agree with all of your points but the negative publicity has a significant non-zero impact on sales here in the US and around the world, especially in Europe, and Tesla seems to be tapping out their addressable base. There is a reason many leaders of other companies stay out of politics.

R5Jockey 2025-05-23 02:47

She liked the handling and ride quality better.

thefalconfromthesky 2025-05-23 02:50

Had the same experience and thought

Ted_Featherstien 2025-05-23 02:52

I think it’s a 200 mile limit

7f0b 2025-05-23 02:54

It is more of a car for sure, in the physical sense, but not everyone wants that. Doesn't matter how fast it is in a straight line. The Model 3 is tight, nimble, and feels like a sports car compared to the Buick Model S. No offense to the Model S; it's a nice car, for people that want a larger vehicle.

incond1te 2025-05-23 02:55

Maybe because they might consider buying one? I got a txt earlier. Had a tesla for over 5y. Maybe a newer one would convince me to buy? Perhaps you have a smaller model and want to see if a larger fits your lifestyle?

Froggytv 2025-05-23 02:56

While my Model 3 LRAWD was in service, they gave me a Model S Plaid as a loaner. God, I didn't want to return it lol

LoveAllHistory 2025-05-23 02:57

Make friends with the people working at the service center. Bring chocolates in thanks when you pick up; instead of being rude when something isn’t fully fixed, be cool about it and say you understand things happen; tip when they go above and beyond; that sort of thing… I get a loaner every time. They’ve even bent the rules when I needed to go out of state. Treating people with a little extra attention not only works in your favor, it ensures that everyone has a better experience.

LoveAllHistory 2025-05-23 03:01

It’s great the day you buy it and whenever you want to readjust the spinal column of an unsuspecting passenger. I drive my car in permanent chill mode.

sherlocknoir 2025-05-23 03:05

Open the same car. Got the same invite.

rudeboyness 2025-05-23 03:07

I called my nearest service center. Dude said he only has one model x and that you have to have an order for the vehicle before they can allow you to do this, which is stupid. When I told him that made no sense and then he said he can let me test the car for 24 hrs but not for 48.

chickdigger802 2025-05-23 03:09

its interesting because ive test drove the new 3 and new y. some nice little improvements, but the con of the minimalist interiors is the changes are so subtle vs your typical car 'new revamp' every 5 years or so. And most of the notable changes are like the turn buttons and slide screen to park/drive which are eh. Nothing screams \~$20k+ after trade in/resell of my current 2019 m3p- though.

shellimedz 2025-05-23 03:09

I got that earlier today in the app and also as a text message, but you can't actually schedule for 48 hours through the link so I didn't bother with it. I want a model y performance anyways.

[deleted] 2025-05-23 03:10

[removed]

eugay 2025-05-23 03:13

lol they've always done it because it's an obvious thing for them to do to get extra profit

NMSky301 2025-05-23 03:17

I guess the only thing I could think of is maybe the 3 needs more reinforcement at the rear of the vehicle, so they made it a hatchback.

Instance_Automatic 2025-05-23 03:18

Heads up, my local Tesla location said I can't do 48hr test drives on weekends.

Instance_Automatic 2025-05-23 03:18

Same, no 48hr test drives on weekends.

[deleted] 2025-05-23 03:23

I got this too

AndrewNeo 2025-05-23 03:25

That's not a condition of sending this notification out though

Richyc17 2025-05-23 03:26

You're telling me a company is trying to increase their sales? What the heck!?

immortalalchemist 2025-05-23 03:27

I got a text. My wife and I test drove an X a few months back and loved it but now we are eyeing the Lucid Gravity. I wouldn’t mind a 48 hr on an X Plaid but I still don’t think I will be buying a Tesla again.

special_agent47 2025-05-23 03:36

I’m glad it works for you. For me they felt ponderous. I was fully expecting the MS plaid to hold its own with the CT5-V/BW and the Audi S8 and boy was I disappointed.

darkmatterhunter 2025-05-23 03:37

Ugh that sucks. I usually do a longer drive for a hike on the weekend so I thought that would be better than my 5 mile commute to work.

Jimmyvegas66 2025-05-23 03:38

Last warranty service they gave me Uber credits.

Midicide 2025-05-23 03:39

To filter it down to those who really want to.

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-23 03:45

Mine said the same thing, too busy during the weekend to give the car away the whole time. Maybe you could get it for the weekend at a huge showroom but I would say it’s safe to assume most showrooms will only be allowing this during the week when it’s slow. I called another showroom a bit further away from me but located at a very popular mall and they said they are not even participating in 48 hour demo drives and that I would have to find a different showroom.

Falconpunchjr 2025-05-23 03:47

I hope I get it. I would love to drive a CT for two days.

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-23 03:48

If you take any demo drive, the disclaimer mentions the maximum distance is 200 miles & they state it needs to returned within 2 days

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-23 03:50

Wow that sucks, some idiot probably didn’t read the terms agreement and must’ve either: -Taken the car way too far away from the showroom -Exceeded the 200 mile limit -Not return the car on time

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-23 03:51

That would be really awesome if you can time it well, I would call well in advance to try and plan this out. They also don’t allow 48 hour demo drives over the weekend so maybe try to plan around that if possible.

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-23 03:51

Try another SC in your city, it’s all dependent on the manager at the specific location because a 48 hour demo drives requires manager approval

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-23 03:53

You could try but it’s subject to availability, and the chances are probably not in your favor because there would probably be at least one demo booked after your appointment or the following day. You have to go in person and request it.

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-23 03:54

Not likely, Tesla 100% carries insurance for this kind of thing. Besides that, they would probably go after the person who committed the damage first.

LebronBackinCLE 2025-05-23 03:55

I mean twist my arm, I'll sport a Cybertruck for a couple of days

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-23 03:56

Tesla will probably never allow that, too many people would request it and it takes effort to prep a care for a 2 day demo drive. This could throw off a SC schedule a lot if they spend time prepping the car, it would be out of unavailable that whole time and worst case it would all be for nothing if the person is a no show.

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-23 03:56

lol call another SC or go in person and speak to someone else this guy is yanking your chain trying to push his numbers

momo3605 2025-05-23 03:57

They have 80mph limiters on demos lol. Pointless to test drive a Plaid that way

vinotauro 2025-05-23 04:00

Sounds like a dumb idea until people realize how good the refresh models are compared to old

Fit_Preparation_9742 2025-05-23 04:02

Just seems like a last resort to chase after customers who already know what Teslas are like. They should be doing more to bring new customers into the fold.

Different-Art-5266 2025-05-23 04:05

That’s plenty to get a good idea of the cars real world range. My commute is 200 miles freeway round trip. A ~50mi trip should give me a good idea on wh/mi efficiency.

icex731 2025-05-23 04:12

Allow transfer of FSD and 1.9% on the S and X and I’ll gladly trade in.

Qs9bxNKZ 2025-05-23 04:24

Loaners are up to the service center. Sales and service are two entirely different entities. It doesn’t have to be Teslas fault for a free loaner either. I’ve been in many times and had a loaner. 1. Ask for one. 2. Arrive early (about 8-9A) and get one before they are loaned out. This isn’t just one service center either, pretty much everyone one (4-5) and distance is in around a 250 mile radius

Qs9bxNKZ 2025-05-23 04:26

I’d do it for a CT. No interest in the M3 or MY over my MS models. The CT (if prices were more reasonable) and a long term loaner to “sell” the family on would provide the extra motivation. Especially in winter and snowy conditions. Need to know how they track, clear berms and handle iced conditions (head light and wipers)

kids-See-Gh0sts 2025-05-23 04:29

Have an older car, like 2021 model Ys and under

retromafia 2025-05-23 04:33

My wife has one. I don't drive crossovers, SUVs, or other tall vehicles ... just not my thing.

ionchannels 2025-05-23 04:51

I want to drive a cybertruck around U District in Seattle. I guess having 2 Teslas is not enough to qualify for this offer though.

gentlecrab 2025-05-23 04:51

I mean we don’t know that necessarily. The more owners they can get onto newer HW4 cars the less cars they’ll need to upgrade for free in the future.

lommer00 2025-05-23 05:16

Evidence? That's a pretty wild claim

Accomplished_Sky_899 2025-05-23 05:21

Exactly. They’re going to do everything they can to get people into HW4

Bear650 2025-05-23 05:21

How often can I use this offer? Asking for a friend

Vast_Goal_8216 2025-05-23 05:25

Same as well, let me know if you found a solution! I’m going to call in tomorrow

dimonsf 2025-05-23 05:28

You don’t have to go and book in person like everyone is suggesting here. I booked online, said 30-minute one like yours, I replied to that confirmation text message asking if it’s 48-hour one. They said it was not because I booked it over weekend, they don’t do it over weekend, told me it’s available to book sun-thur and they can help me with that by just texting, so I texted them my preference and it’s booked now. Going to try CT

dimonsf 2025-05-23 05:32

Booked CT. They don’t do it over weekend though, told me it’s available Sunday-Thursday only. Booked thur-sat over texts, no need to go do it in person

Jaws12 2025-05-23 05:32

I will gladly start using HW4 when they are forced to shoehorn it or HW5 into my 2018 LR RWD M3 with only 70k miles on it and FSD (originally EAP + $2k FSD fire sale in 2019). Best car I’ve ever had and the efficiency is amazing for road trips. I plan to drive it until the wheels fall off.

digitaldisorder_ 2025-05-23 05:43

I bought my 2023 m3p 2 months ago and it came with FSD. It was about 3000 more than other similar m3ps.

Snakend 2025-05-23 05:48

Just look at parts on Ebay. And then go look at used Teslas on carmax and carvanna. The used price market is bottomed out. The only thing keeping it where it is, is the price of parts. Those cost of batteries and motors and seats and doors, etc is the new floor for the used Tesla market. I have bought 4 Teslas in my life, I will never buy another one.

AndrewNeo 2025-05-23 05:49

I mean, I got it and do not have an FSD package, though you may be right that they're trying to get rid of HW3 and earlier cars.

Soupicxl 2025-05-23 05:50

how did u book it on text

AmbitiousFunction911 2025-05-23 05:57

Mine has no issue with weekends. I did a 48 hour test drive several months ago in the winter. So experience may vary. My showroom isn’t even open on sundays

dimonsf 2025-05-23 05:59

Booked online, got text that it’s confirmed, replied to text asking if it’s 30-minute one or 48 hours, they told me it’s regular 30-minute one but they can help me with booking 48 hours, which they did

Ranger7798 2025-05-23 06:02

Copying Porsche ha? That's a lame move.

keytoarson_ 2025-05-23 06:04

Lol huh? 2 days with a car I already have? Mmmmk

insanecoder 2025-05-23 06:07

Yeah, and if they get you on a trade in they could make more money by flipping your old car

insanecoder 2025-05-23 06:10

I’ve bought two teslas in my life and I will never buy another one new again. Love the car but will happily let someone else take the depreciation hit.

insanecoder 2025-05-23 06:19

I was the same way until I realized I was just being difficult for no reason.

[deleted] 2025-05-23 06:45

> so there’s less cars on the road with older tech that they would have to answer to and provide FSD upgrades. Cool story, but lacks logic. As long as Tesla haven't solved unsupervised FSD, they don't need to upgrade existing cars. If Tesla ever does solve unsupervised FSD, their economy will skyrocket. The cost of upgrading old cars will be insignificant. They don't need to protect themselves from that.

Professiona_vel1911 2025-05-23 07:05

I scheduled a demo drive and went to the showroom. Apparently, the sales agents haven't been informed about it until 10 minutes ago and they had no clue how to make it happen. They told me to schedule a demo for next week

[deleted] 2025-05-23 07:56

No offer yet for me!!! If I get it, it’ll be a CT for moi!!

bigtech100 2025-05-23 08:06

I think this was the point, for them to try a model they don’t already have.

jrherita 2025-05-23 09:46

I'm pretty sure if I had a brand new Y for 2 days, it would be challenging to go back to my 2018 Model 3..

jrherita 2025-05-23 09:50

Exactly, 'I only drive sedans' is just a mental block. I won't drive a minivan for the same reason, but I also realize it's silly.

jrherita 2025-05-23 09:51

How's the handling? I drove a standard MX and it felt floaty compared to a new 3/Y.

andrewmadd 2025-05-23 10:08

It’s because sales are flagging. They are trying to appeal to existing owners to get a new car since they have already proven willing to buy in the past.

Overall_Affect_2782 2025-05-23 11:48

I didn’t get this message in email or my Tesla app, but I’ve only had my MY for 2 months. This is definitely to entice owners of older vehicles to upgrade.

chuckst3r 2025-05-23 11:51

I would 100% take this offer for a cyber truck, been wondering how that drives

bartturner 2025-05-23 11:55

Did not get one. Curious what drives getting one?

thesovereignbat 2025-05-23 12:19

I got a ratted out Model Y on my last service visit. Some of us are lucky I guess.

retromafia 2025-05-23 12:22

I used to race cars as a hobby. Still enjoy the performance car experience. Driving anything taller than a sedan is, to me, like driving a truck, and that's just not fun for me. If you've never driven competitively, you might even prefer that "sitting up high" experience. It's just not what I want.

thesovereignbat 2025-05-23 12:24

You need a create a profile on an new amd car and have the sync profile turned on. Then every time you get in any tesla all of your settings will follow including spotify etc....

rasin1601 2025-05-23 12:25

I’d try the cybertruck because life is short and the reactions from friends and neighbors would be hilarious. I might even temporarily lose some friends. I don’t know. Forget it.

OneDollarSatoshi 2025-05-23 12:26

I'm actively shopping the Model 3, and don't find this to be true. I live in a market where Tesla is immensely popular, but so is hate for Elon. There is also a pretty good state tax credit on new EVs too. On Carmax right now, there are exactly 10 Model 3s newer than 2018 available to buy in my market area. The rest are in neighboring *states.* The long range models with ~50K miles are priced in the mid 20s. The ones with less than 20K miles are priced almost like brand new vehicles (2024 long range with 7k miles is $38,000) which, you're better off buying brand new, after the 7500 + 3800 tax credits in my market. Like I said, I'm an active shopper who will probably be in a Model 3 by year end, and I don't find what you are saying to be true. At least where I live.

rasin1601 2025-05-23 12:27

What region are in?

[deleted] 2025-05-23 12:38

The new Y is incredible. She’s gonna love it.

epradox 2025-05-23 12:43

Even if they have to upgrade the old hw3 users for free, they can offer that upgrade to non fsd people for $2-3k to be able to subscribe to unsupervised fsd. I’d imagine that would have a huge uptake rate.

BagNo8563 2025-05-23 12:47

Did you buy it from Tesla?

insanecoder 2025-05-23 13:09

I hear you. It’s your choice in the end of the day. I’ve driven sport sedans my whole life and of course it’s what I wanted, but it’s not what I needed—so I have a model Y now.

insanecoder 2025-05-23 13:10

Some minivans are sick, not gunna lie.

Ghost4000 2025-05-23 13:19

Based on above comments there is a 200 mile range. I know plenty of people who would burn through half of that just between getting home from the dealership and bringing it back. It's also apparently not possible to do it over the weekend.

Neonwater18 2025-05-23 13:27

They want you to become a cybertruck owner

AdExotic1589 2025-05-23 13:37

How do you get this? A 48 cybertruck may convince my wife 😅

AntiqueJoule 2025-05-23 13:43

I just got the message today. We have two Teslas in the garage, an M3 and a MS. I need a pickup truck for a couple of days to haul furniture. Are there any limits to cargo use during the trial?

2019_Stealth 2025-05-23 13:59

I also have a 2019 mp3-. The main reason I’m considering a new model is that I want a quieter interior. I’ve read that was significantly improved with the highland. I still doubt it’s worth $20K+ but I’m willing to drive a 2025 Performance for 48 hours to find out.

varnell_hill 2025-05-23 14:03

I’ve been a Tesla owner since 2019 and have purchased several vehicles from them. That to say, I know how the Service Centers work and I’m telling you they have told me on more than one occasion they don’t do loaners. It doesn’t matter what time I arrive and a few times I even dropped the car off a day in advance. With one exception, quite literally every time I asked I got the same answer. I’m not sure how else to say that.

MrRickRey 2025-05-23 14:09

Long time legacy owner here. Went to my local Tesla at Westbury and they said they’re only set up for 30 min. It’s a complete waste of time.

OpinionPinion 2025-05-23 14:13

Welp, I’ll still go because the service center is on the way home from work so I’ll give it a shot. Will update yall if I get a model X for the weekend or not lol

the-packet-catcher 2025-05-23 14:55

That’s my assumption. I wouldn’t buy a new vehicle with hundreds of miles on it. Also, for privacy reasons I wouldn’t expect them to share previous driver information.

misteryub 2025-05-23 15:04

When I had an extended demo, the profile got erased too.

Snakend 2025-05-23 15:10

3 years ago, used Teslas were more expensive than new Teslas. I see a 2019 model 3 with 86k miles for $19,990 on Carvana. The depreciation on these cars is insane and will only continue to drop as it becomes more apparent that Tesla's brand image is destroyed by Musk's actions. Buying a Tesla after what Musk has done is absolutely mind boggling. Doesn't matter if it's used or not, find any other brand.

hutacars 2025-05-23 15:16

I don’t know if it’s that. I have never used FSD outside of the trials and never will, so the fact my 6 year old car has old tech shouldn’t really matter to them. I think they realize current Tesla owners have already pulled the trigger once, so they should be less challenging to get to pull the trigger again. I don’t think I could convince myself to buy another Tesla while Elon is in charge, but if they wanna lend me a free Cybertruck for a weekend, who am I to say no?

Qs9bxNKZ 2025-05-23 15:17

I’ve own Teslas since my 2015 MS and has been in SCs several times. You want a loaner, listen. You want to complain about not getting a loaner? Show up at 3P. Has nothing to do with warranty work. For example, I’ve replaced three windshields and every time : loaner. And those are not warranty replacements. Sometimes it takes one day, sometimes three.

hutacars 2025-05-23 15:20

Carmax is notorious for being overpriced though. Find one at your local Ford dealer or whatever and it should be more reasonable.

SpellingJenius 2025-05-23 15:21

Good luck to them - I am keeping my 2018 M3 until I get the FSD I purchased (or a REALLY great deal on a replacement)

varnell_hill 2025-05-23 15:38

Did you read the post you responded to?

Rubix321 2025-05-23 15:47

I drive a Model 3, but I was considering a Y for the next vehicle if it stacked up against competition in the category... Not going to joke, this actually has me thinking of trying a Y using this program...

hutacars 2025-05-23 16:07

> At the very least, why is the 3 the only one, besides Cybertruck, to not have a hatchback? To convince people to pay more for the more profitable Y. It was doubly important in the early days to convince early 3 owners to upgrade to a Y after the fact.

hutacars 2025-05-23 16:10

It’s not no reason. The seating position sucks, the front visibility is worse, the handling is a downgrade, the efficiency is poor, and while it’s less of an issue with EVs, the center of gravity is higher leading to increased rollover risk. Basically there is no advantage over a lower car except ground clearance, which most people don’t need.

evervescant 2025-05-23 16:12

"The sales numbers at this point are strong, and we see no problem with demand."

hutacars 2025-05-23 16:13

Exactly. Seating position is probably my #1 gripe TBH. Sitting in my P3D is like sitting in a recliner— legs outstretched, super comfortable, very at home behind the wheel. Sitting in any SUV is like sitting in a dining room chair. Who the heck wants to sit like that for hours?!

Dr_Pippin 2025-05-23 16:16

This is only going to apply to vehicles that someone trades in (sells?) to Tesla and then Tesla re-sells. It's when the vehicle is in Tesla's custody that they can remove paid software packages prior to selling.

hutacars 2025-05-23 16:17

My problem is my P3D- *was* quiet when I bought it, but 65k miles later it’s a rattle trap. I have no confidence a new one won’t end up the same way.

insanecoder 2025-05-23 16:18

Or, if you need extra cargo, have children and need 7 seats, live in snowy areas where ground clearance is beneficial, need to tow shit and want a hatchback. Getting in and out of a sedan is harder for older folks and bigger people. A lot of what you said is also subjective but go off king. Like I said, I do prefer sedans but opted for the model Y because it offers more of what I need and most of what I want.

Dr_Pippin 2025-05-23 16:23

> 3 years ago, used Teslas were more expensive than new Teslas. 3 years ago darn near all used vehicles were more expensive than MSRP. > I see a 2019 model 3 with 86k miles for $19,990 on Carvana. The depreciation on these cars is insane and will only continue to drop as it becomes more apparent that Tesla's brand image is destroyed by Musk's actions. That's not the smoking gun you think it is... Search 2019 Audi A4 and check the prices. Or 2019 BMW 3 series. Or 2019 anything. You're talking about a 6 year old vehicle with nearing 100K miles. > Buying a Tesla after what Musk has done is absolutely mind boggling. Doesn't matter if it's used or not, find any other brand. Go find somewhere else to spend your time. Your crusade is just annoying.

1960vegan 2025-05-23 16:34

I'm in the same boat, and similar perspective.

1960vegan 2025-05-23 16:36

Wow - for years now when I've taken my M3 in for service (thankfully rare) they only give Uber credits, no loaners.

Mattsasa 2025-05-23 16:38

I have week wanting to try out FSD v13. Does this 48 hour test car come with FSD enabled ?

2kwitcookies 2025-05-23 16:43

Don't you love getting this vague message which requires you to do research as if you're finding a good dentist who takes your dental insurance.

dynamite647 2025-05-23 16:48

Anyone in Toronto try it?

Open_Intern_643 2025-05-23 16:50

Me neither, you can probably just walk in and act like you got it. I’ll try it out, been meaning to check out the Cybertruck

M1A1SteakSauce 2025-05-23 16:51

What if I just rotate thru all the models every week? I’m always driving a free car for 2 days at a time :-D

2019_Stealth 2025-05-23 17:00

Is yours a 2018 or 2019? My September 2019 model had one rattle at the driver side corner of the front dash. I stuck a piece of foam in there a few years ago and it’s been quiet since. Ive read that there’s been significant reductions in road and wind noise. That’s what I’m interested in.

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-23 17:05

Good luck 👍🏽

Dr_Pippin 2025-05-23 17:11

Do the commute with it! What better way to find out?

Dr_Pippin 2025-05-23 17:13

So anytime any manufacturer of anything markets that something, it's a doom and gloom scenario?

andrewmadd 2025-05-23 17:14

Not necessarily doom and gloom, but for a brand with as low of market share as Tesla, not a positive sign.

Dr_Pippin 2025-05-23 17:17

Ha. Ok. This is a very cheap form of advertising. Let your current users test drive a new car, they'll likely show it to friends/co-workers (or at the very least mention it), and that will garner some interest. Compared to a manufacturer running a hundred million dollar Super Bowl commercial, this is really smart.

basketballkilla 2025-05-23 17:18

Wow

nah_you_good 2025-05-23 17:19

I'm not sure how it works though. It tells you about the offer, but then sends you to just the generic test drive page and form. I suspect you could just submit it anyways and mention the offer.

Accomplished_Sky_899 2025-05-23 17:23

Yeah I have a 23’ MYLR and I’m genuinely curious if there will be a cost effective solution to get HW4 without purchasing a new vehicle. Probably not tho. I’m awaiting the MS refresh to see if there is anything significant with that upgrade

hutacars 2025-05-23 17:32

Aug 2019. The only rattle when it was new was from the driver’s seat belt. Since then it’s developed rattles everywhere, as well as a front suspension noise (creaking at slow speeds) I need to get looked at. And yes, road noise at high speed is horrible, though that’s probably down to my tire selection.

mindracer 2025-05-23 17:40

They could make so much more money by making FSD more affordable, 20-30$ a month? I'm in. Car already has the computer.

CarlCarl3 2025-05-23 18:14

I just did an overnight demo of a cybertruck. Whan an awesome vehicle. Gonna be had to go back to steer-by-mechanical-linkages.

popornrm 2025-05-23 18:16

You kinda can. They don’t open Sunday. Ask for an overnight test drive near end of business on Saturday and then you can return it Monday. I’ve done this

icy1007 2025-05-23 18:23

Likely would be a Model S Long Range.

2580374 2025-05-23 18:31

Wow it's worthless lol you could already go in an trst drive one. If you can't do it over the weekend who cares

timestudies4meandu 2025-05-23 19:27

I would have to say that is pretty awesome

seenhear 2025-05-23 19:46

Not sure what you mean by trying a different service center? Trying how? The offer comes through the app, and I haven't received it via my APP.

fearrange 2025-05-23 20:02

Yah, sound like a rough life if other people’s views can dictate whether you test drive a vehicle or not

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-23 20:06

Go to any showroom in your city. I called the showroom by my house and the advisor said I have to first come in and do a 30 min demo drive before they can “schedule” and “work out” the 48 hour demo drive. I wanted to schedule the 48 hour demo drive without having to go in person so I called another showroom (located at a mall) and they flat out said they were not participating in the 48 hour demo drives (probably because they have too many demo drives from all the foot traffic). I then called a third showroom and it was the same story as the first, I need to go in person to schedule it and they refused to do it over the phone. All three people I spoke to were kinda rude over the phone. They probably have a lot of people calling in about it and only want to deal with people who are serious about it and willing to come in person. They were nice and easy to deal with in person. I scheduled a 30 min demo drive at the first showroom and when I showed up I mentioned i got a text about a 48 hour demo drive. They mentioned it would be in two weeks before that starts because of the memorial day weekend and end of quarter but they were able to schedule it out two weeks from now on a Monday - Wednesday. I didn’t even have to do the 30 min demo drive. They didn’t even verify anything or ask to see my offer but when they pull up my account they can see I am a Tesla owner so if you don’t own a Tesla this might not work.

andrewmadd 2025-05-23 20:09

I work in marketing, they need to convince new customers to even consider Tesla, which this campaign doesn’t do.

OwnEquivalent4672 2025-05-23 20:11

Just went to local Jax showroom with this offer, only M-F, so none over the weekend. Boooooo

rasin1601 2025-05-23 20:25

Yes, it is a rough life. For everyone. I will say that Cybertruck hate is a real thing. Even if it is wrong, unnecessary, and silly. I assume we’re all owners here—at least most of us. My enjoyment of my car has been complicated by the nose dive in the Tesla brand. That’s all I was getting at. I think it’s natural for most people to care what others think. It’s not necessarily a weakness to acknowledge this.

Bigheadtesla 2025-05-23 21:07

I booked a demo on the website with my local dealer for the cyber truck after receiving the email. They called me an hour later asking if this was for the 48 hour test. They told me best is M-Th. I’m scheduled to pick it up Wednesday morning and drop off Friday.

Worth-Reputation3450 2025-05-23 21:36

Until they get my FSD working, they won't get a penny (or a nickel since penny is being discontinued) from me.

Killertofu280 2025-05-23 21:57

Dang I would love to do this with a cybertruck or an X. Gotta keep an eye out

AgonizingFury 2025-05-23 22:08

At our local showroom, it was people using them as rentals for the weekend, or for Uber/Lyft/etc. (so well over the 200 mile limit). I work for a supplier, so very closely with a lot of Tesla employees, and they let me know about overnight test drives last time Tesla was doing it. Did it once, and when I tried again a few months later, they said it was now limited to once per person due to the above issues 😥 Too bad too, because you can't get the full experience in a single overnight ride. You really need to use it for at least a week of commuting, and/or a weekend trip to really appreciate how nice FSD, and all the space for luggage and crap can be. It wasn't until I rented one on Turo while my car was in the shop for a week and a half that I finally decided to buy one. They could've had a new customer 2 years ago...

WoodGreen63 2025-05-23 23:05

I got this. My model S is a 2013 P85+ and I’m not energized to buy another so this test drive hits me square. I can live my life for 2 days with the car and at the end of the 48 hours I will know whether I want one or not….

fragment137 2025-05-23 23:08

Not for me 🙃

moldy912 2025-05-23 23:21

I wanted a model Y after the interior refresh or whatever. I sat in one in a showroom, asked if I could test drive a performance, which they didn’t have, and left realizing the car is too similar to mine to be worth it, and I’d have to pay out the ass for FSD and premium connectivity. I’d be more interested in a used S or X.

morrison2015 2025-05-23 23:38

I own a 21 model s plaid. I've never seen this in the app. I just had mine serviced for the flood port and I had to talk to the service guy and tech. Neither one of them mentioned this. I'd love to try out a cyber truck.

morrison2015 2025-05-23 23:40

I'll bite. Why?

Foodiehunter 2025-05-24 00:01

I tried twice and two locations and they texted me that it’s fully booked and not available for 48hrs. Would I like to come in for a 30min test drive? No thanks, I want what was offered.

Faile-Bashere 2025-05-24 00:03

Is there a mileage limit on the 48 hours? I wanna take a trip to the beach.

Faile-Bashere 2025-05-24 00:04

After I put 1200 miles on it during my 48 hour test drive to the beach…

immortalalchemist 2025-05-24 00:13

1) I once was a fan of Elon, but not anymore. He has shown as a CEO he will say what is best in the moment to keep himself wealthy to the point where I can’t trust what he says anymore. In my honest opinion, the company can do much better without him. The CyberTruck is a failure, (imo) an embarrassment and is a real life callback to the “The car built for Homer”. I don’t want to see more crazy Elon ideas trickle down into future models/refreshes 2) My experience with their service has left a bad taste in my mouth. I’ve had my Model 3 since 2018 and back then, service issues were annoying but not as bad as today. I had an issue in 2019 where my easy entry setting would telescope the steering wheel and the constant back and forth especially during hot days caused a wire to get disconnected from an electrical board. This made the car throw tons of errors rendering it underivable until I pushed the steering wheel in and let the cabin cool off. It took service over a week to figure this out and they loaned me a Model S and I didn’t have to pay anything. Fast forward a few years and most service centers I’ve dealt with either gave me Uber Credits or had me go to an Enterprise rental to get a car. My last experience was probably the absolute worst. My car couldn’t charge using superchargers but could charge using lower output ChargePoint devices. I took it into service and they said it would cost $600 to replace the charging unit. I accepted the work order and then a few days later they came back and said it was something else having to do with the high power contacts and they needed to be replaced and the new bill was $1600. It felt like a bait and switch while they were just throwing out ideas to see what the real issue was. I had to argue with management over several days for them to honor my original estimate that I approved. 3) I think Tesla being at the top for so long has made them complacent and they just don’t innovate like they used to. Other car manufacturers are starting to catch up and offer better alternatives to what Tesla has to offer. I test drove the Model X and while it felt nice, I just thought it could offer a lot more on the interior for that price range and more features. I look at other competitors like the Lucid Gravity which offers ridiculously more space, better interior finish, and just all around better features. My Aunt has a Lucid Air and that car has a premium feel to it over the Model S. With the Model S/X, to me it feels like you are paying for performance, but not luxury even though the price tag feels like you should have both. 4) Burned by crazy price drops. I get that I was an early adopter to the Model 3 and I wanted the Performance variant but it was out of my price range. It stung when I got my AWD trim in 2018 and then a few months later, the Performance Model 3 was being sold for less than what I paid for my car. I could go on, but these are the top things that immediately come to mind.

Steward-lions 2025-05-24 00:14

I don't know about them being stripped for parts but teslas for 20k is definitely a reality. That's why I got a MS. It's insane value for the performance, tech and luxury. I think people shopping at that price point will eventually get one - end up loving it - and 5 years from now consider getting a new one. The availability in the used car market will attract new customers and some will remain brand loyalists.

colsandersloveskfc 2025-05-24 00:29

Tens of thousands of teslas sitting around? Being scrapped for parts? Is your “source trust me bro”?

timestudies4meandu 2025-05-24 00:32

I'm reading it is 200miles, so it may be kind of not great to send this invite to people 100 miles away from the nearest store

theotherharper 2025-05-24 00:40

Right, "only car we can offer is a Cybertruck" lol.

Tilak0404 2025-05-24 00:49

I haven’t got it yet …. If I get it will opt for cybertruck for 2 days

OpinionPinion 2025-05-24 01:16

Didn’t get it. Told me they don’t do 48 hour experiences. I was like why did it say on the site then? Said they still don’t do it… but if I call back or come back in 2 weeks they’ll give me a model X for 24 hours . Sooo, maybe I’ll do that?

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-24 01:26

Try another showroom in your city.

OpinionPinion 2025-05-24 01:41

I will try that out then! I am a Tesla owner so should fine to try out the car for 1-2 days, but we’ll see!

EverythingMustGo95 2025-05-24 01:48

1200 miles was one way to the beach, right? Or did you not mean the Cybertruck?

cadium 2025-05-24 01:55

I was waiting for FSD + Supercharging transfer for my Model 3. The new Model Y is nice and quiet. Might wait for HW5 though or the lawsuit to buy it back.

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-24 02:23

Nice yeah hope it works out!

Practical-Manner1065 2025-05-24 03:52

Seems like when I had an Audi they would always give me one model higher than what we brought in, I had an a6 and an a4 when I brought the a6 in I’d always get an a6 or a fully loaded s line a6 and then with the a4 I would always get an a6 or an s4 to drive. I finally asked if they were trying to butter me up and they smiled and said well you never know what you’re missing until you experience the best so we let you see what’s available for future purchases. It was a good business model and I have to imagine it paid off for their efforts

TldrDev 2025-05-24 04:16

Too busy? Parking lots full of these in my area. Just sitting there.

Cramer19 2025-05-24 10:58

I had an awful experience trying to do this yesterday (Friday) and wasted a lot of time. I wanted to try a Model X. I called the local dealership, the call likely went to some decentralized call center, they told me sure just book a 30 minute test drive on the app and when you show up tell them you want to do the 48 hour promo. I did that and in person the dealership told me they only have used cars and can only do 30 minute test drives, try going to the bigger one in the city. So I did that. When I showed up they told me they only do 48 hour test drives Monday through Wednesday, and only with the Model 3, Y, and Cybertruck because they don't have enough S or X on hand. They could only offer me a 30 minute test drive -\_-. So yeah unless you're very close to a dealership I wouldn't bother attempting this, I'm sure they all have their own rules and whatnot but it isn't worth the headache.

Calm_Mobile_5881 2025-05-24 11:33

I think it’s very possible. The 3 is 700 pounds lighter and much more nimble.

TheDevilsAardvarkCat 2025-05-24 14:04

Chiropractors hate this one trick..

18randomcharacters 2025-05-24 15:00

Nah

slodojo 2025-05-24 15:20

or to make more money by selling more cars

Nothing_Rich 2025-05-24 15:46

I got this message also.  I think the key word in the message might be "wait".  I went to the local showroom, after waiting 30min+ I was told the waitlist to schedule these drives is at least 6 weeks out.  I opted not to bother.  If Tesla really intended to offer this "experience", perhaps to encourage existing owners to upgrade, why not use the same simple scheduling in the app they already use for 30min test drives?  Instead they just reminded me of how consistently horrible their customer facing experience continues to be.

Virus_Hour 2025-05-24 15:56

Ya I called mine and says tuesdays/thursdays/saturdays pickup between 4p-6p and return before close 2 days later So I booked mine next Saturday M3

LebronBackinCLE 2025-05-24 16:11

Total bullshit. Showed up at Lyndhurst (Cleveland) location and as I pulled in I looked at my phone and it said appointment canceled. Went in and talked to them and they said corporate basically threw them under the bus, they don’t have the inventory to do it. Nice waste of my time.

Jackyl84 2025-05-24 16:17

Didn’t get the offer but would totally drive around in a cybertruck for 48 hours. Currently have a ‘24 Y

BitSharp5640 2025-05-24 16:21

Just for a demo 48 hours cybertruck. Cant leave the state tho, how stupid

dwrek25 2025-05-24 16:39

You can now schedule the 48hr on the website and it doesn’t block off weekends. Possibly worth a shot?

Danger_Boss 2025-05-24 17:13

Canadian with a Tesla here. Confirming I don’t see this either. I don’t even want to demo any of them but I’m still mad they didn’t choose me lol

jvs8380 2025-05-24 17:53

I don’t even own a Tesla but I downloaded the app and it gives me the ability to book a 48 demo. Will I be able to demo the car that long not being a current owner?

ansyhrrian 2025-05-24 18:32

They won’t do it. Specifically asked. Plus limited to 85mph max. Coming from a current model s performance owner. No exceptions.

nist7 2025-05-24 19:24

Yeah that's not surprising at all. The liability/risk is just too high. And not to mention even IF they did have Plaids on loaner, it'll be locked to the chill mode and have a max speed limit

bodobeers2 2025-05-24 20:32

i'll take a cyber truck for a couple days, why not :P

RetroGaming4 2025-05-24 22:35

They used to do this back in 2015 with the models s. It was great back then. Elon is back with a fucking fury after the liberals fucked him due to doge. Better buy Tesla shares.

avebelle 2025-05-24 22:57

I did 3 extended test drives prior to my purchase. Basically 1 during each season, summer, winter, and spring prior to delivery. I think it depends on the store. My store was pretty relaxed about the mileage. Said just don’t get too crazy and stay within the state. Lol.

VoltageJ 2025-05-25 00:08

Same sc01 to sc01 at least

Consistent_Grape_349 2025-05-25 08:41

It's only for people who bought FSD. Subscribing to it doesn't qualify unfortunately.

Ecstatic_Captain6281 2025-05-25 11:01

Damn, I want this. Do we leave our cars with them?

mhoepfin 2025-05-25 11:14

I have been in chill mode for 5 years on my model s.

ultimaron 2025-05-25 12:56

I got this also, but I don't really have a want to drive something else.

Rmbw74 2025-05-25 15:21

I got this the day after I sold my MY

N0TAC0P_ 2025-05-25 17:55

They DO have plaid as loaners. They can be put in Plaid acceleration mode. Speed is limited to 85 though. You can get there real quick though. SOURCE: driven a few in the fleet

amzlym 2025-05-25 23:35

Do they have a mileage limit? How do they handle supercharging usage?

Jclarkcp1 2025-05-26 01:12

Tesla has always given me a loaner on an extended service. You even get free supercharging with it.

ScientistBrilliant65 2025-05-26 02:55

Took my M3LR in for service, which they damaged my new car with 550 miles on it, but that’s another story. They gave me a model Y DMPERF. I need to get one asap…..going back to my RWD was very hard to do.

TrollTollCollector 2025-05-26 04:06

If your 'friends' hate you for just for driving a Cybertruck, then that's a good way to find out they weren't really your friends in the first place.

gosioux 2025-05-26 06:49

Yep I had one a few weeks ago. Straight up not safe on my mountain switchbacks.

hitmandreams 2025-05-26 09:27

I thought the same thing. Sounds like a hassle for getting to drive something I have for 2 days

1960vegan 2025-05-26 09:49

Do you have an M3 or MY, or an S or X; for S and X, I've heard loaners are more common, but not for 3 or Y. I also think there may be some variation between SCs, which would account for why some people get loaners, others (like me) only get Uber credits. On an Uber credits aside/rant, the last time the SC was finished the work, they parked my car at an offsite lot (the SC already being overcrowded). However, the fact that my car was no longer "at the SC" invalidated my Uber credits, so I couldn't get back to the SC. Trying to call Tesla's SC to get them to fix that - forget about it.

Jclarkcp1 2025-05-26 14:25

I have a Y Performance. The 1st time they gave me a loaner right away, the 2nd time I couldn't get it until the next day because they didnt have any. Also 1 time I just had it in for a 1-day service but had errands to run, and the sales Department gave me an X Plaid to drive. It was used, but stil veryl nice. No doubt they were trying to upsell me by letting me see what it was like to drive a bigger vehicle.

Chapeton 2025-05-26 16:12

Model Y and Model 3 only.

CillGuy 2025-05-26 18:17

So traveling at 45 mph you would use up the entire alloted range in about 5 hours. What do they expect us to do with it for the other 43 hours? See how it looks in our driveway?

xcbsmith 2025-05-26 18:22

When I called in, it directed me to [tesla.com/drive](http://tesla.com/drive), which is for a 30 minute drive.

SatinGreyTesla 2025-05-26 18:28

Based on my experience with service loaners, test drives, etc., Tesla has always been more than reasonable with mileage when discussed in advance. If mileage is a concern, I recommend chatting with someone at the service center beforehand to see if they can accommodate you.

SatinGreyTesla 2025-05-26 18:29

See my comment above: https://www.reddit.com/r/teslamotors/s/8AZh6ouIEO

Vrope300 2025-05-26 20:00

Thinking about going on a mini trip from LA to San Diego , is there a mile limit?

shuacore 2025-05-27 00:25

I didn’t get this offer..?

El-outis 2025-05-27 02:49

Nope!!!!!

Odd_Manufacturer_328 2025-05-27 03:23

I test drove every single tesla minus the semi yes including the roadster there is complete differences honestly and they were all basic like no plaid or proformance if you drive a 3 /y and then drive an x you would not want your car back and if you drive a cybertruck you would give your lungs to keep it lol

Ancient_Tap8914 2025-05-27 05:34

They don't offer this in Las Vegas. I got the text, went to sign up in the app and it only offered 1 hour. I called and the dealer said that this was sent from corporate and they are too high volume to offer this deal in Nevada. Longest they will do is 1 hr. Pretty lame.

Parrothead1337 2025-05-27 05:48

Tried to do it in person and they said they were busy doing an event and that I could reserve one in 3 weeks.

armansadeghi9 2025-05-27 06:27

Will they run your credit?

AppropriateDog2433 2025-05-27 15:08

My local dealer said I have to pre qualify for the vehicle and then I can take it for longer period. I think some people might be shocked when they don't let someone just take a 80k car for 2 days

Lower-Depth-4917 2025-05-27 15:49

The fact that they have tons of promos going on right now it’s an indicator that they are not doing well. If your demand is high you don’t run promos that’ll lower your margins.

tiredsultan 2025-05-27 17:13

The only ones available for 48 hours are M3 and Y in the Washington DC area. Would have liked to try the X. And the only day available is at the end of June

terran1212 2025-05-27 18:44

It's available to everyone else too

Virus_Hour 2025-05-27 20:57

Ya one I called didn’t mention that I don’t even own one but plan to 1-2 years or so just not this minute He just said we do them Tuesday/Thurs/Sat pickup 4p-6p and return 2 days later before close at 6pm and asked if had this coming Saturday open and said yup and he scheduled it with my phone #

Novel-Locksmith4285 2025-05-27 22:06

I just finished a 48 demo with a cybertruck. It was awesome!

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-27 23:24

Where can you do it on the website?

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-27 23:27

How did you schedule your 48 hour demo drive?

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-27 23:28

Yes, can not exceed 200 miles and if I remember correctly you can not take the car more than 150 miles away from where it’s picked up.

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-27 23:28

Mine did the same thing. Did you click the link from the text message?

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-27 23:29

200 miles limit Free supercharging

Salty-Barnacle- 2025-05-27 23:29

How do you book a 48 hour demo in the app?

ExoticDegree1082 2025-05-27 23:44

Can someone else drive the car if I take it on a test drive? Like if my 17y son wants to drive it?

Novel-Locksmith4285 2025-05-27 23:45

I rsvp’d to the Memorial Day event my local dealer was having. They then called me asking if I wanted the demo. It was a great experience.

jvs8380 2025-05-28 01:19

Pretty straightforward. Click “48 hrs“ option under “Book a Demo”.

ExcelsiorDDZ 2025-05-28 02:18

48 hours ONLY if you pick up and return the car before 2pm. So 4:30pm still requires a 2pm latest return. Limited to 85mph(no surprise there) and 100 miles in total.

gofigure1028 2025-05-28 02:35

I had a model x plaid loaner for 7 weeks and having the 85 mph limit probably kept me from getting multiple tickets. Still fun to accelerate then drive like normal

xcbsmith 2025-05-28 03:13

Yes.

nikfiz 2025-05-28 03:18

Anyone get this invitation in WA state, Seattle/South King County area? I have a 24 MY and haven’t seen a thing!

WoahChill 2025-05-29 02:40

How many miles are allowed for the 48 hours?

Shajmaster12 2025-05-29 03:14

What was the mileage limit they gave you for the 48 hours?

Alternative-Stretch2 2025-05-29 04:03

My 2014 m235i a few years back needed some work they gave me an 840i with 11 miles in it for a loaner for a week lol. That was a tough break in I didn’t even know it had no miles when I hopped in

nadrums1217 2025-05-29 16:41

Got a CT booked next Wednesday, and a new MY right after I return the CT. They let me book the MY Friday at 5. Does that technically mean I have to have it back at 5 on Sunday or before they open on Monday?

Novel-Locksmith4285 2025-05-29 17:47

I believe the form said 100 miles max but I was definitely over that and they didn’t give me a hard time

WoahChill 2025-05-29 18:08

Good to know! Thanks for the reply!

WoahChill 2025-05-29 18:10

I did this same exact thing, you’ll soon receive an email stating that this experience is limited to one per person and will cancel your MY reservation. Your best bet is to ask another person (significant other or family member) to help you book the MY.

Crazy_Jackfruit7489 2025-05-29 21:44

C'mon Tesla! No Cyberbully?

Davidclabarr 2025-05-30 11:25

Just completing my 48 hour test drive. This genuinely ruins the experience. Go in to snag something at Publix? All your settings wiped. No more phone paired for Bluetooth. No saved addresses. Doesn’t matter if you sync profile or anything. Just wipes it each time.

CaptainAdaquit 2025-05-30 12:11

I can only find the basic drive request, not a 48 hour request, where are you finding that?

Individual-Dust-618 2025-06-04 23:33

Has anyone received this ? Hey Jeff, we are not able to perform overnight demo drives from our Mississippi location at the present time. Once we are able to perform these and get the necessary approvals and resources, we will reach back out. For now we will need to preemptively cancel your overnight appointment on 6/14.

According-Trash9750 2025-06-05 13:51

Are there limits on mileage on these 48 hours test drives?

TheOnlyName0001 2025-06-06 00:03

I saw this when looking at scheduling a test drive! Pretty sure it's available for everyone though, not just Tesla owners.

dinga617 2025-06-08 03:11

Has anyone used this as a loaner when getting your own vehicle serviced? I cannot miss a day of work so I thought about getting a 48 hr demo for the same day of service so I will have a vehicle.

oreog22 2025-06-17 03:28

Is this sent to random owners?

owangewoundoboi 2025-07-02 22:26

What is the maximum distance away from the showroom?

Fuzzy_Hat1231 2025-07-24 15:51

they don't let you do 48 hour but they do let you do an hour by yourself

Fuzzy_Hat1231 2025-07-24 15:53

it's not locked into chill mode. but it is jumped limited to 85. all demo vehicles are limited. but that just means you can't have fun on the highway. it's incredibly fun between 0-85
