Nah, Roadsters have been driving around for 17 years now. Their tech is so old now, they cannot wireless connect to Tesla any more, so thats not a worry. There are independent mechanics that specialize in repair and service. If youve got the cash, it should be no issue keeping an old Roadster driving for a long time.

Gruber Motors in Phoenix specializes in these. They also have a for sale Roadster section on their website. Looks like they are in the $90k to $135k to $dreamk asking on that site.

Haven't been made for a long time. They did do another batch in I think 2018 but most reports say the originals are better. I don't think 2018 was a good year for cells. Model S's I think are similar.

Historically, Bring A Trailer has done a bit better with roadsters. Consider listing it with Grubers Matchmaking service as he has a list of people who are interested in purchasing good condition roadsters.

I remember looking around and found several in the $40-50k range in LA like 8-10 years ago.

<100 miles a year isn't uncommon for people that buy as an asset, but that doesn't seem to be op's case.

The issue is the battery - it degrades even without use. But the cells on these are workable, IIRC.

Really wish they would do a "regular" roadster, as well as the vaporware Supercar one. I DD a Nissan Z and would love something in the $50-75k range depending on equipment with 2 seats and modern Tesla technology.

Check my post history I used to own VIN #209 which was featured by MKBHD on his Auto Focus channel. I sold it on BAT but it didn’t go for the going market price at the time due to the 3.0 battery having issues (this was the 2017 era pack)  The market has cooled down, but I would try posting on Tesla Motor Club, and also reach out to Carl Medlock in Seattle who works on these cars. He worked on mine and he’s such an amazing guy, plus all his sons work with him on repairing Roadsters. He used to be a head honcho at Tesla way back in the day when they were gearing up for the Model S launch.  If you post online, most interested buyers will ask for the CAC and other battery diagnostics which you can get from the VDS in the secret menu.

I know someone with a 2010 Roadster, a little less than 40k miles and several track days, it'll do 170-180 miles now vs 220 when new.

Oh for sure, OPs car looks immaculate and is worth more than $60k. Its also well optioned, looks like 2.5 sport with the exposed carbon package.

The car market has died altogether over the past few years. Before you could flip most desirable cars for double their cost. Now most new cars sell for under MSRP. Hot ones might sell at a bloated price for the first month or two of release but usually after the gotta be first buyers get their cars no one wants it that bad anymore.

Do you know why those meetings were held? To work with unionized automakers transition to EV. Tesla is not unionized. Tesla won a significant % of EV charging awards in Biden’s infrastructure law. Tesla had been subsidized with billions of taxpayer dollars prior to the meeting with the American automakers. Elon is just a little man chile unable to control his emotions.

It's a custom frame, not an Elise frame. The Elise frame is narrower.

It would help if we didn't perpetuate the misconception that he's the "owner" of the company. He owns 12.8%, which makes him the largest single shareholder, but Blackrock and Vanguard combined own more of the company than he does.

That may be true for when they really started building them, I just know the initial prototype was literally a retrofitted Elise that they cut and extended 4 inches.

No it’s not. Tesla contracted with Lotus to have them build the frames that the roadsters were built on, which are Elise frames. It wasn’t until Tesla got their hands on the frames that they were heavily modified, removing and changing a lot of things, but it doesn’t change the fact that the frames are originally Lotus Elise frames.
