By Elon Supporting this would this be enough for providing material support for terrorism. This would be promoting copycat attacks.

GooginTheBirdsFan 2025-01-02 22:55

You didn’t get that it was a joke? You believe in the National Association of Terrorist Car Bombers?

Boring-Fee3404 2025-01-02 22:56

Well it could be a new terrorist organisation.

415646464e4155434f4c 2025-01-02 22:56

The cat milkers association of Oceania doesn’t agree with this assessment.

[deleted] 2025-01-02 23:00

They have to be bots

snowballkills 2025-01-02 23:02

I think the CT might hold up better than other cars, but its strength is being exaggerated imo. Explosives were in the truck bed, so chances of blowing thru doors were less. They were also fireworks and propane cylinders and not super powerful like TNT or something. There is a reason why all Tesla models are not SS. If other trucks are weak and lame compared to CT, all other Tesla models are too

GooginTheBirdsFan 2025-01-02 23:23

Dude what… just click around on the website. Do you believe “FBI asks X users to stop solving crimes before they do” could be real?

Dont_Think_So 2025-01-02 23:29

There must have been some power to the explosion, since the tonneau cover is pretty heavy and it went flying. This thickness of SS is not used because it hard to work with, not because it's an inappropriate material.  Also, there is plenty of steel in the other Tesla body panels and frames.

CommunismDoesntWork 2025-01-02 23:38

It looked like there were sticks of dynamite in there. I don't think a full investigation has been done that clarifies exactly what the combination of explosives were.

Cautious_Pitch_4729 2025-01-02 23:58

Babylon bee isn’t even funny .

i_sch007 2025-01-03 00:12

Can’t destroy a Cybertruck! Awesome I want one.

azsheepdog 2025-01-03 00:40

Can believe im going to recommend this video but just watch the next 1 minute only https://youtu.be/PK_EJ3DyiiA?si=fNsg7SI9NLHTpIMN&t=939

OSUfan88 2025-01-03 01:20

Idk, I found this to be pretty damn funny.

OSUfan88 2025-01-03 01:21

Other Teslas aren’t trying to be tough. They’re not trucks. And yes, that SS is ridiculously strong.

Pure-Math2895 2025-01-03 01:26

A 40 year old f150 with truck cover would have handled it better too. Fireworks and a couple of small propane cylinders? Gimme a break 😂

VirtualLife76 2025-01-03 01:27

Only if he's trying to sell dihydrogen monoxide also.

bigpapamacdooz 2025-01-03 01:33

Wack joke

aptwo 2025-01-03 01:38

Cybertruck withstand c4 blast just fine

zmarketec 2025-01-03 01:59

Looks like an armored vehicle and takes a hit like an armored vehicle. Must be …

short_bus_genius 2025-01-03 02:11

Yeah… this one is worth a chuckle.

capkas 2025-01-03 02:36

Lool

Future-Employee-5695 2025-01-03 02:37

So dumb. Put even just 100kg of real explosive and your shitty CT disapear

DepthHour1669 2025-01-03 02:42

That cover is super light compared to the kinetic energy released by any explosion.

snowballkills 2025-01-03 03:00

Yes, but I dunno if other trucks are trying to be tough on the outside as such, but I totally agree the CT body is really tough and has no parallel in the industry. I also think the underbelly is the weakest part though. Also the interiors are quite a contrast to the body and wouldn't stand any abuse. It should have had hard plastic and metal inserts that are wear resistant, and tough fabric Kevlar reinforced seats or something... No?

[deleted] 2025-01-03 03:31

Let's see next year. I have a feeling most of the voters won't be around next time

snowballkills 2025-01-03 03:39

Frame of the CT is cast aluminum, and steel in the roll bars etc is not stainless. Cars switched from steel (not stainless) for panels to aluminum alloy to save weight and prevent rust. Stainless steel is mostly rust resistant, but is very prone to scratching but very hard to fix too. Dents caused by accidents mean new panels needing to be put in, and it will be expensive

Cautious_Pitch_4729 2025-01-03 03:41

lol we all know why and it has nothing do with the joke ...🇮🇱

sarky-litso 2025-01-03 03:43

Awesome article. Does Tesla sponsor the Babylon Bee now?

Fire69 2025-01-03 06:31

Talk about dumb... It's a satire news site.

Ceramicrabbit 2025-01-03 07:06

Lol the article is basically true

Ceramicrabbit 2025-01-03 07:08

A civilian pickup truck that mostly gets groceries in sunny California

edum18 2025-01-03 08:38

So the windows broke?

snowballkills 2025-01-03 09:12

Yeah I am aware, but to your example - kitchen knives generally get scratched easily. Other utensils even more. Carbon content and other elements like Mo, Va, etc. would define its overall hardness, toughness, and appearance. To be fair, if Elon would have used a steel with more Cr to make it more rust resistant and non-magnetic, its hardness would have been lesser. It may be a cheap stainless, but I think it is fine for the job. If you see some surface rust, you can use some barkeeper's friend or even sand it a bit to remove it. I don't think saltwater will eat away at it as easily as it could cars with steel/iron panels. I think one of the biggest downsides of this SS body is it shows imperfections more coz of straight panels and limited shapes possible (from what they say). I like the CT's appearance, but the sharp edges is something I am not a fan of, and they are quite dangerous to pedestrians and other cars in case of a collision

hungariannastyboy 2025-01-03 09:31

How can a website be so violently unfunny?

snowballkills 2025-01-03 10:11

Additionally, the common man has no idea, and this SS being used in the Starship gives the CT the ultimate selling point. A lay man will be blown away after learning this, as are most people when they see 'military grade'

Presence_Academic 2025-01-03 10:13

Idea behind the article is fine, but the execution is quite ordinary and licking pith.

Ok_Recognition_2018 2025-01-03 11:30

Is that a real thing

ZeroWashu 2025-01-03 12:39

Gallows humor aside Tesla is just lucky the CT was not the vehicle used in New Orleans as there would be many claims its construction led to additional deaths and injuries.

snowballkills 2025-01-03 12:57

True, it would have been much worse

reddit-abcde 2025-01-03 13:17

what association is that?

StaysAwakeAllWeek 2025-01-03 13:44

I just tell people starships are made out of frying pans

MrGruntsworthy 2025-01-03 15:43

Pay attention, I'm only going to do this once

TheGoodOldCoder 2025-01-03 15:52

Their audience is the same people who think the joke in /r/onejoke is funny.

Living_Attention790 2025-01-03 16:42

That’s the joke. It’s the worst car to use as a bomb because the components like battery etc. and the vehicle itself stayed intact. Because its so strong, its bad to use as a car bomb.

Organic_Battle_597 2025-01-03 17:00

Fascinating! Babylon Bee is now pro-Tesla? This is not shocking, in retrospect, but it is a tangible manifestation of how Elon's demographics have shifted. In any case, it is bullshit anyway. Any pickup would have had precisely the same result. What is more noteworthy is how absolutely pathetic the attempt was. Fireworks and gasoline? Is this what terrorists are reduced to nowadays, is the FBI **really** that good at preventing someone from acquiring enough fertilizer to make a bomb?

[deleted] 2025-01-03 17:14

It's perfect really, they can haul it right back to the dealership for re-sale after the driver's neck snaps from lack of crumple zones!

Zestyclose-Factor531 2025-01-03 17:28

You know your vehicle is polarizing and brings out the worse in humans from having some sort of civil discussion, when you have to make your subreddit private and by invite only! I actually LIKE the ct and want one, but find the admins of that sub are on edge and a pain in the a\*\* at times. Sure, they're likely from dealing with a constant influx of bs but over control has destroyed that sub imho.

Grouchy_1 2025-01-03 17:36

The bomber was an active duty green beret with 5 bronze stars on leave from Germany. He shot himself in the drivers seat just before the explosion. The FBI also said they were surprised by the lack of sophistication given his background and they also concluded that the lack of damage was strongly contributed to by him using a cybertruck, which mostly contained the explosion; directing the blast upwards and away from the hotel.

[deleted] 2025-01-03 18:10

you can't fix stupid, that's for sure.

Living_Attention790 2025-01-03 19:33

Why?

Living_Attention790 2025-01-03 19:35

Whoever did that wanted a bigger bIoom. Tesla one this one, take the L.

just_jedwards 2025-01-03 20:41

But he just had some fireworks and gasoline; not a real bomb. Dude was trying to make a show, not a hole in the ground.

[deleted] 2025-01-03 21:03

This isn't a real vote, but I don't suspect a car bomber would live very long

KennyMcCormick 2025-01-03 21:17

I mean people who saw it pretty clearly said it exploded… thats what fireworks and gasoline do?

KennyMcCormick 2025-01-03 21:19

Damn thats way better than I would expect

just_jedwards 2025-01-03 21:36

The picture in the OP is how fireworks and gasoline explode. This is how a truck bomb explodes: https://preview.redd.it/soan91vcluae1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d9ff03f8fefd2170df9da44fc9974409fd7c49fb They both explode, but very much not the same thing.

KennyMcCormick 2025-01-03 22:04

Ok. Saying it’s not a real bomb is kinda weird tho, it’s just a smaller bomb.

sbeven7 2025-01-03 22:14

It wasn't a real bomb. It was incendiary but it was only a bomb in the way a 13 year old would strap fireworks to a gas can a bomb. It's flashy, and dangerous, and serious. But it's not a car bomb. Real explosives like ANFO would have launched those dumb stainless steel panels all over the place and 100% caused the battery pack to explode

KennyMcCormick 2025-01-03 22:38

A firework IS a bomb. The definition of a bomb is a container filled with explosive, incendiary material, smoke, gas, or other destructive substance, designed to explode on impact or when detonated by a time mechanism, remote-control device, or lit fuse. It’s a bomb. Idk what your motivation is here or how much you hate cybertrucks or whatever but it’s irrelevant honestly.

Mront 2025-01-04 00:52

> Babylon Bee is now pro-Tesla? Babylon Bee has been pro-Musk and pro-Tesla since Elon unbanned them from Twitter.

CloseToMyActualName 2025-01-04 04:34

They accidentally loaded all of their biggest jokes into the back of a wannabe tank.

Additional_Ad5671 2025-01-04 06:21

Bro why are you being so obtuse

Alienfreak 2025-01-04 12:44

30X stainless steel is not ridiculously strong. Its worse than a classic galvanic coated CR700. Not to mention PHS 1500 steels that are about twice as tough. Both are pretty much standard to use for some components of the chassis of cars. Also 0% of real armored cars or tanks are made out of stainless steel.

Alienfreak 2025-01-04 12:45

You think wrong. They of course looked at what exploded.

Spider_pig448 2025-01-04 19:56

I must be missing the joke here? This is all related to the Cybertruck bombing last week right?

Macrophagemike 2025-01-04 21:20

The funny thing is this almost sounds like actual headlines out there it took a second for me to realize it's satire. FUD fueled headlines by a dying ICE auto industry. Most people's source of "news" forming their OPINIONS.

Mundane_Engineer_550 2025-01-06 01:25

Put it in the back of any other truck it would blow the sides off

Mundane_Engineer_550 2025-01-06 01:29

Yeah he would've hit that thing backed up and kept going and a lot more people would be dead for sure

Living_Attention790 2025-01-06 21:03

Can’t destroy a Cybertruck! Awesome I want one. Thants the joke. Bomb a cybertruck and it doesn’t explode, I want one.
