Thats quite possibly the most disappointing things to happen to cars in a long time.
What a stupid idea. Let's make a cab that can only have 1/2 people. Elon needs to lay off the drugs. He's going to absolutely sink the company and undo the work that many people at Tesla have done.
it's insane how fast Tesla has allowed Waymo to take the lead in the self-driving field.
Looks like they forgot to design the rear
I am detecting real “aged like milk” energy here…
90% of rides are for 1-2 passengers only
NO!
To people that just want to get from a to b? Itll probably be good, they wont care about how a car looks, feels or any of its other aspects. It’s tesla though, so it’ll be popular, prompting other manufacturers to copy it and further ruining modern cars for those that actually like them.
These doors opening into the traffic seem a bad idea
Looks $hit especially from behind.
And tout the trunk space!
Wait til you find out about how regular doors go into traffic even further
Does it have a motor or do they tow it into the show room?
Yeap, depending on the country, it's between 88 and 94% of rides, it was obvious that it would be a 2 seater.
It looks so dirty inside ew
To people that use a cab, often have luggage, or is older and have problems with mobility... this car is just insane.
I take it youve never seen suede before
That’s, exactly what i said……. To people that just want the ability to travel.
But... who are those magical people - without any luggage or other needs. Its a pretty slim target group :-)
This is meant to be a cab, who cares how it looks? NYC or London cabs looks like shit too,
Majority of rides are for 1 or 2 people. Just order 2 cabs if you are with 4. This is very smart and drastically reduces number of parts and easier maintenance and cleaning
I believe this is one of the ones from the “We Robot”-event. So probably has a motor.
I really don't understand how strategy with this car. 2 seater, no luggage, no built in ability to drive. He hasn't actually cracked fsd yet, so this is literally a car for the potential future for a select few people? This is what we got instead of the cheaper model 2!?
Only two seats?
What uses waymo? Just curious.
It’s so ugly man. Waymo does it already and it’s great.
Go to San Francisco and you will see. It’s as common as Uber. You see them everywhere and it drives perfectly. You just download the app and order a taxi. I don’t know why nobody talks about it.
Tesla being “popular”? Didn’t anyone tell you it isn’t 2016 any more?
Yes. Franz did an interview saying that’s where they’re going to start.
As always, stationary and not cybercabbing anywhere. Vaporware!
i would love to use waymo if it were in my area, but they're losing a billion a quarter. the self driving works, but not really any other aspect of it does
God, another one of these....,
This car has a big luggage, the trunk is over 40% of the vehicle's full size, probably big than Model X.
I’d rather have Tesla model 2 in this size.
I was there yesterday. I really like how it looks in person.
Daily commuters who think the bus takes too long, and would take a cab that's just as cheap. You know people need cars for other things than taking flights?
Re: number of parts and easier maintenance and cleaning That doesn’t make a lot of sense. Adding two seats to a car doesn’t double the number of parts and cleaning/maintenance effort. Let’s say a 2-seater has 90% of the parts of a 4 seater (lowball number imho), and that it takes you 90% of the time to clean and maintain. That’s 180% of cost and effort if you need to carry 4 people, it really doesn’t make sense to me. Does someone know if they addressed the 2 vs 4 seats thing?
Ipaces don’t look good. What’re you talking about. I love the cybercab design. It looks totally like a concept car
Man, so much hate for this car. I think it looks sweet.
Added bonus of also occasionally smelling like it too
Apparently they want to grocery shop worth 300$, and yet not have it delivered.
Genius business model, start out being known as twice as expensive if you have a third passenger
These look like the worst seats I've ever seen
I don't understand why you'd want this form factor in a cab. If I'm hopping in and out with bags, I don't want to have to back up to let the doors open and then drop down into a low, sports car seat. I want something more like a minivan that slides open and lets me sit higher with my legs bent comfortably.
Nicr
This thing is pure vaporware
[removed]
Waymo is sick. I much prefer it to lifts in my area because I don’t have to put in my AirPods to ignore the driver, car never smells, turn the music off, temperature controls, and it’s cheaper. I enjoy the privacy for conversation as well. It takes longer than Lyfts to get to places since they don’t use highways but that’s a trade off I will usually make.
And one screen?
A cab service that is as cheap as a bus *and* takes less time? Are these people commuting in Narnia?
It should have looked like a mini minivan. Higher seating and sliding doors. Makes much more sense for a cab.
only a swedish can like that shit
The paint was just a temporary hack. In the production model and later prototypes its metallic wheel covers they’re using and they’re removable as well
London cabs have so much thought and history in their design, this thing is just shit.
Have you forgotten that we've been striking against Tesla for almost a year now?
Yes it only has two seats. Always did. Not sure why this is so hard for some people to wrap their heads around.
Yes vehicles on display inside buildings are usually parked.
Naaaah
I rode in one on 10/10. They're EXTREMELY comfortable. Super-nice.
I rode in one on 10/10. Definately not vaporware, lol. Volume production in 2026.
I've heard that they drove it in, in another museum using something that looks like an xbox controller essentially.
I think some people are just new to this stuff. Guy probably doesn't know a lot about tesla goings-ons.
[removed]
Easier to sleep in a more reclined position.
Tesla has increased their market share in Sweden since the strikes began.
If it had a steering wheel and pedals it would be more impressive. This doesn’t actually work.
😂😂
How often do you sleep in a taxi?
forget all the negatives for a second how badass will this be in one or two decades without windows (or maybe on/off function for all windows) being drunk and ordering one of those will be a blast
It’s so ugly
True. /u/A55Man-Norway Tesla already makes 5 other vehicles that seat 3-7 people. The CyberCab is for the 90% of ride shares that are 1-2 people.
FSD won't be level 5 in 2026
Apparently you haven't experienced FSD v13.2.
Isn’t 5 seats just better? you can drive two people in a five seater, but at least you always have the option
I feel like this looks too much like a car. As in... if you would scratch what you know about a car and focus only on the fiction this vehicle is trying to solve, it would probably be designed in a very different way.
Sure ! Autopilot not working when snowy roads sure gonna make this successful
And it's still under 10%, overall sentiment is still negative. It makes sense for it to not be as popular though, people tend to prefer domestic brands, even if Volvo is "Chinese" now.
Are you sure it's only two seats?
I’m presuming you don’t really care about what my transportation habits are, and are just asking rhetorically. With the advent of self-driving vehicles, a lot of people going in to work early would love some extra shut eye. Just look at how many people nod off when riding trains. Additionally, taking a long distance trip would be easier if you could do it while sleeping. I was on the road 7 hours yesterday, and it would have been much nicer if I could have just left in the evening and woken up already arrived.
Why does it only have two seats? Is Tesla stupid? What if 3 people want to take a ride together. Why haven’t they thought of this? Nobody can explain why it only has two seats. Vaporware. Bankwupty imminent.
Just once, in San Francisco. I woke up two days later in Detroit missing a kidney.
They make a car that seats 3?
Because the car is stupidly designed. Anyone with a lick of sense would never make a taxi look like this. Thankfully this is vaporware and will never be released.
The one that runs red lights and isn't remotely ready to be operated without human input?
one of the most useless cars
I love the design, except the doors. As an Uber driver I’ve been in many areas where pulling into a space while waiting for the passenger is the only way to not be in the way of local traffic. IMO the doors should open straight up so passengers can still get in if cars are parked on either side of it.
lmao what it makes all the sense in the world. 90% of trips are 1 or 2 passengers. The rest can be handled by a Model Y.
Clearly not.
then they take model y. lmao. it has two seats because it helps it achieve >6mi/kWh and unbeatably low $/mile
I know. I explained the same thing higher in this chain. It’s probably not visible since it’s at -4 for explaining that Tesla already makes cars that seat more than two people. This was just an extremely sarcastic response to a troll.
It costs almost nothing to make a more usable taxi to handle rides that accommodate 4 people. The design is monumentally stupid.
what do you do for a living?
Are they not further? I guess I can't tell from the pics but these look like they go further out than regular doors and the height is an issue. I could see them taking out sideview mirrors on taller cars/trucks.
It's not designed for looks. You think Waymo cars look good??
What Taxi is ever a two door coupe?
Your scenario is not the main cab fare usecase
Looks cool, I think they should make a "model 2" of this thing
You haven't put much thought into this, have you? Teslas has. Over 80% of taxi rides in the US are 1-2 people. And many of them are carrying luggage. Why would you add the cost, complexity, and space to add a 2nd row and 2 more doors when it's not needed for most trips, and leave not enough room for their luggage? They are planning to make tens of millions of these vehicles for around $25k a pop! The idea is to get the cost down as little as possible, and that includes fuel, maintenance, and battery costs. They already have Model 3/Y for larger groups, and will have Robovan for even larger groups. It's genius, really. I experienced one on 10/10, and it was immediately clear that this is the future. What is monumentally stupid is to assume you know better than Tesla. They've done their homework.
This car will never be released. It is vaporware.
You are wrong. But if you are so sure of yourself I think you should short Tesla and also make a bet with me. Maybe we can do it legally over on one of those betting sites?
I think I heard this about Cybertruck once
The main use case would be in citys where doors opening like that just wouldnt be practical and quite possibly impossible
They're was a part here the other day confirming that they move it with a controller but didn't specify which one
[deleted]
lmao fr
He's broke.
Meh, butterfly doors add some extra lateral space taken up when fully extended but let you get in and out easier, so you can in theory use less lateral space by just opening it halfway. But this car would’ve been perfect use case for scissor doors, which are easy to get into and take up significantly less space. Not sure why they decided on butterfly…
Tbf people said the same thing about the cybertruck lol
lol I think you forgot the millions of miles of data they collect from the entire Tesla fleet every year. Tesla is going to surprise the market in a big way. Waymo goes haywire if someone puts an unexpected cone in the road.
Because everyone lives in the snow…check out a map of snow cover this year and overlay that on a population map. Tesla will be fine.
A Swedish? 1. That’s just ignorant. 2. The correct term would have been a Swede.
But they are showing it in Sweden, it's possible for it to be a stupid idea for people in Sweden who think a 2 seater taxi is dumb. Now if it's never coming to Sweden then it's stupid to send a form factor which might not work in this market on a hype tour, and then to call people local to Sweden stupid for knowing their vehicle market.
Will you be deleting these messages when it is released so that we can't come in and check in on you? Maybe just deleting your account outright?
Sci-fi movie prop. Just launch the taxi service already - it’s embarrassing when Waymo is mocking them at this point by scaling up their fleet every couple of months and hitting new ridership milestones.
The small form factor allows for a small battery and ultra high efficiency. Yes, of course, they could have made a bigger dedicated robotaxi model, but that would decrease efficiency. It's not worth the efficiency trade-off in order to satisfy the small percentage of rides with 3 or more passengers, especially given that the Y, 3, S, and X can also be added to the robotaxi fleet. Monumentally stupid is assuming you know more about the economics of these things than the team at Tesla.
I didn't detect this as sarcasm until "bankwuptcy." Just goes to show how ridiculous the nay-sayers are these days that sarcasm comes off as genuine.
You're probably unknowingly applying mental conventions of driving-oriented seats, expecting them to be side-hugging, heavily bolstered, and oriented to give a great view of the road. These are not for driving; they are just for comfort. Think about them as you would a couch.
Getting cardboard car vibes. Will be interesting. But where is the roadster?
So it's like that sub that imploded viewing the Titanic?
Lol, the same thing was said of v10, v11, v12 etc.
Surprised how negative these comments are
Tesla hasn't done a single market test of FSD anywhere. They aren't releasing a car with no steering wheel.
I'm still trying to understand who they are selling this too. They made it 2 seats as they say 90% of taxi rides are 1 to 2 people so if they are hosting a fleet of these as a taxi service I can see the decision to sacrifice the size for better efficiency but instead of a service they are selling these. Which leaves me wondering who the target customer is? Like as a personal vehicle it has to be someone who is ok with no manual controls and only ever has 1 other person in the car... That's an oddly restricted customer pool.
Just when I thought they couldn't come up with something uglier than the Cybertruck, they proved me wrong.
> The point of these is not replacing trains or airplanes people. Neither of those address first- or last-mile transportation, which Tesla has specifically stated as a goal of their automation development programs in the past. Many people use rideshare services every day without any large belongings, like you, but a large portion of the people using the services you mentioned are not only carrying literal baggage but are often in need of transient transport in urban areas before or after public transport. They don't need to be replacing trains or planes in order for cargo accommodation to be relevant to the design of a vehicle whose designers have stated they intend to create a widely-accessible product.
The model 3, y, x, and s.
Then you do it.
People are regularly going from parking to parking with 0 steering wheel or pedal input. Tons of videos on youtube.
Good luck to them copying an AI.
Waymo has just 700 active cars, 7 years after their first autonomous ride for a public person. Yeah they're going nowhere. I can see Tesla wiping that # out on day 1 of launch in 2025.
It's b/c the car's body is slim.
I don't get why people are all excited for this. FSD is not even close to being ready and Tesla is being sued left and right for FSD related deaths.
This comment has been removed.
Because of utility. Even if rides are usually shared by 2 persons, I don’t see why they couldn’t make the whole thing more friendly to other cases with more cabin space given it is designed for commercial use. Same can be said about any cars, I drive my car to work everyday by myself, why not just get a two seat car instead of family sedan. In my city, taxi are boxier and taller and without the front trunk, even if they are shorter than cybercab, but they can fit 6 passengers, 2 rows, with one role foldable seats (like the London cab). And it is taller, you can put your large suitcases in the passenger cabin. As taxi are supposed to be cruising in cities, they tend to be a bit slower so the entire design did not compromise too much for aerodynamics, in exchange passengers can sit more comfortably with taller head space and leg room. Cybercab doesn’t have any of those.
Musk went off the deep end politically, he could cure cancer and Reddit would still be complaining.
They have a Model 3, Y, and X for larger groups or people with luggage. The two seater is to fill the hole in their lineup. Why use a four-seven seater when most the volume is 1 or 2 people.
A two seat cab is stupid. It should have been a 4 seater but they are taking form over function.
Because it’s not real
Two extra doors isn’t a difficult addition, besides they don’t even need to add two extra doors. Just use one large one for the entire side. If that is too over engineered for them then why would they have scissor doors? Also adding two extra seats is incredibly simple. Sure 80% of the time they won’t need those seats but an entire extra model of car is much more expensive than two extra seats. That’s two vehicle types to manage in a fleet of cabs.
It used to be the truck that never would be built. Now it’s this one. I suggest you go with the van next.
Will these things be rolling down the street tomorrow? No. Next year? Probably not. By the end of the decade? Probably.
Since most rides are 1-2 people there makes sense to have a dedicated vehicle for that. There are other models that can handle more passengers.
Welcome to Johnny cab!

To get more money from investors.
Sliding doors would have been the best option
>But they are showing it in Sweden, it's possible for it to be a stupid idea for people in Sweden who think a 2 seater taxi is dumb. Then people who think that are dumb, especially considering that this taxi is autonomous. Worldwide, between 85 and 95% of the Taxi rides have 1 or 2 passengers.
Your opinions are vaporware.
🤡
>Two extra doors isn’t a difficult addition, It cost money, it makes the car bigger and less aereodynamic, there is a reason if this car is teardrop shaped. >besides they don’t even need to add two extra doors. Just use one large one for the entire side. This will make it harder to open in a city environment, put wayyyyy more stress on the hinges and the entire car. >If that is too over engineered for them then why would they have scissor doors? Less occupied room on the sides and an easyer entry. >Also adding two extra seats is incredibly simple. It isn't, the roof must be higher, you have worst aereodynamics, have to make the car longer, with a bigger battery...oh look, you have just made a Model Y. >Sure 80% of the time they won’t need those seats Between 88 and 94% of the rides are with either 1 or 2 passengers. >but an entire extra model of car is much more expensive than two extra seats. That’s two vehicle types to manage in a fleet of cabs. You either add another cybercab, or go with a model y, or a Robovan.
There is just a little problem with Waymo, A microscopic one: If they were actually a businnes and not a tech demo, they would need to charge probably something like 5$/mile, more than twice what Uber does and 10x the personal ownership of a car.
Good math. You should let Google know they don’t know how to run a tech company so they right this ship fast!
It looks insanely sweet until you know it's designed to be a cab that drives itself. That's the moment when sweet design turns into stupid design. Form should ALWAYS follow function.
Looks cool but it doesn't seem practical. I imagine one of the 90 or so Chinese EV firms fighting for survival will do better.
Like the Cybertruck. Sure.
To me this is like Apple introducing iPhone 20 with a promise of fully perfected AI Siri and all the bells and whistles, but until then it will rarely but randomly explodes in your face killing you.
Newsflash: the worlds bigger than US of A
They know that they are deep in the red, they loose around 1B/quarter, and they know that they can't scale, that's why even though they started doing autonomous drives years ago they aren't scaling cars wise. It's a party trick.
Why? Are the majority of taxi rides with 3 or more passengers?
What happens if something is wrong. Can you get out of it?
Looks like a VW XL1
Gasp, you’re right! Most of the world doesn’t live anywhere near snow either!
Please look at a population map of California and the climate where most Californians live. The vast majority of them are in Mediterranean climate…where it nearly never snows. Also, who road trips in a taxi?
Form is function. They have vehicles for more people. What’s the word for arguing against something you don’t understand?
Or, you know, two cybercabs on the 10% of rides that are 3-4 passengers.
Two things I’ll say about this. While it’s great and forward thinking I don’t trust my Tesla full self driving nearly enough to get into one of these things yet. Secondly why did they go with a coupe for a taxi? This logic makes no sense at all if trying to carry multiple people with baggage.
It’s sweet but it doesn’t make sense for the application. It would be like if they designed the new “Cyber Racer” and it looked like a minivan. This should just be their coupe sports car offering
The front does look sick. The back is kinda ugly IMO
you couldn't pay me enough to get in one of these death machines. autopoilot is a shit show
It’s a bad design. Period
Toyota redesigned their taxi for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and came up with this low floor, sliding door, boxy thing: https://media.toyota.ca/en/releases/2017/toyota-rolls-out-new-model-for-jpn-taxi.html It looks ugly but it's a highly functional cab.
And the Roadster so I guess those people are batting .500
Watch dogs legion
Form over function is prioritizing aesthetics over practicality. While yes Tesla has vehicles with more than two seats, that’s another entire vehicle required for ~1/5 of the taxi calls. Adding two seats is much easier to manage than an entire additional vehicle for a fleet of taxi cabs.
They added multiple cities to their network this year I’m fairly certain.
Yeap, but they didn't add cars, not in any meaningful amount.
Requiring another entire vehicle for 1/5 of their calls is much more to manage logistically than having added two additional seats.
I mean, it's only a ~~moving~~ car! Who needs lateral support??
We've been talking about the millions of miles of data for.... 6 years now? It's clear that more data is not helping at this point, the algorithms are the weak link still. It is NOT a "more data = solved" problem.
Model Y without wheel
From the back, it just looks like a coffin with doors and seats.
Not even in production and already has an expired registration…
That isn’t a bad sign. It’s scale before scaling. I’m not sure about adding cars but they are adding multiple new markets in 2025. Why are you fixated on the number of cars as a means to dismiss Waymo as a business? They have 10x the weekly trips in phoenix in the last 18 months. I’m sure they will adjust pricing once more people use Waymo and they are likely using low prices to attract customers. They can also sell data the cars collect. Your numbers are completely made up. I just said that Waymo is a good product for me and you started the wholly irrelevant (but welcome) convo on the business model. Maybe one day they will sell the tech to Tesla since their FSD tech in current cars will never be able to accomplish what Waymo has with their tech, but I’m not really interested in going down that rabbit hole. Waymo in October was valued at $45 billlion so you should let invest those investors know they got hosed do they can sell before it’s too late. I wish I could more easily find the total investment Google has made in Waymo to compare it to the $45B; could you make up an imaginary number for that data point for me?
Yeah people with bags and have mobility difficulties never get taxis...
Why not just use the Model Y for all of them and save the expensive of making an entire new car?
> You haven't put much thought into this, have you? Teslas has. What's the betting this whole thing is Musk's brainfart? There's no thought in this at all other than to look cool and keep the stock price up.
The Cybertruck would have cost them less money if it was vaporware.
Low seats are not comfortable to get in and out. Especially with bags, or when you're old.
> Waymo goes haywire if someone puts an unexpected cone in the road. Is that better or worse than driving into fire trucks?
And twice as cheap for the majority of rides
Roadster will ship but it’s the lowest priority. The cherry on top.
Some people get it and some people don’t. This happens with every revolutionary product, including the iPhone. Can’t tell you how many hours I debated with similar people back then (Jan-June 2007).
Incorrect. They’ve thought of everything.
this is so dumb and unpractical, I bet this was designed personally by Musk
I think you're overestimating the cornering speed of a robotaxi. This isn't going to be driving like a Model 3 Performance set to Insane. You'll be fine in these seats.
Looks like someone just read nexus. Any original thoughts?
I’m sorry but the “cyber” font has to go. Trashy, the font looks like it vapes and plays Need for Speed.
Man, I have owned a 2018 Tesla Model 3 with a VIN less than 40k. I waited in line then waited 3 years to buy. I bought FSD when it was not yet ready and discounted to $2k. I have used every version of FSD since I got accepted from the BS safety score stuff. I am a MEGA tesla fan. I have watched numerous analysis of FSD over the years on YouTube. I am a software engineer who has studied machine learning to try to understand their approach. I think their approach is the most feasible business model, but, you are a moron if you think they need more data to reach true FSD. They are still on the upward climb to the peak of the FSD mountain, and it's likely a lot further than they expect. On the flip side, what you have said has been BS that has been repeated for years. We are a few generations of compute hardware away. We are a few generations of physical hardware away that IS NOT COMPUTE (think, how would a FSD Tesla enter a gated community?) Waymo is also dog shit though, their hardware is not economically feasible and their algorithms aren't good enough either. They rely on teleoperators too much. After so long, I'm starting to think that the value of FSD is $0. I admit that could be a Bill Gates 640k memory quote, and I genuinely hope so, but I'm starting to think that NEITHER of their approaches will work at scale. FSD is a SIGNIFICANTLY harder problem than either of them expected. Lastly, I have no clue who nexus is.
man, it's still a car 😅
One of the things that works is the dark tinted windows and hidden back seat. In the California Waymo trials, men would stop the taxis to try and get female passager’s phone numbers. If we want women (I’m a woman) to feel safe in cabs, we might need to tint the windows and block out viewers while using cameras/screens so the passages can see outside. https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/men-stop-waymo-sf-woman-passenger-video-19808703.php
Looks uncomfortable af and screen is 7 miles away from reach
Given they don't exist yet that's a little odd to claim
I really do not like the interior…
And I thought cybertruck was the ugliest Tesla out there... Ouch , what an eye sore
Feo como patada en los huevos
Lower $/mile
what is then? I’ve taken 38 ubers in 10 years. All but 4 have been back and fourth to an airport. Am I that weird? For any other task I own a car. Maybe for people in nyc without vehicles they might use cabs more often. That would get expensive fast
Nobody said never.
So much wasted space
Because this was supposed to be the Model 2.
Ugly = not cool. And this is all about the hype and appearing “cool” to 13 year olds
This is a concept car will never make full production anyone who thinks it will is deluded, even it make limited production it'll be riddled with faults just like the cyber truck but then again you'll have people gullible enough to queue up to buy it
I have friends that have taken 50 Ubers this year alone. To get from home to anywhere and back - to a friend, to an event, to work if late etc. Just all the reasons why people do light travelling in their city. Yes it makes no financial sense but that's probably the kind of client this is mainly for, then tourists who are using transport in their visited cities, and only then the airport goers
Rule of cool
wtf. are they just insanely rich? is 50 ubers really cheaper and more convenient than just owning a car? I mean I “ubered”(grab) everywhere around kuala lumpur as a tourist bc it was like $2-4 per ride and basically the cost of transit but i can’t imagine doing that with american or european uber pricing. It was also horribly inconvenient to wait 5-20 minutes for a driver every time i wanted to leave and go somewhere.
They all have enough money, owning a car is inconvenient in some big cities, they're lazy and you don't have to actively wait you can just call it before you leave the house and often it's just 3-4 minutes or so. Enough time to put your shoes on.
Scissor doors are just as cool
Amazing. I want to take a look for myself.😍
Idc I’m 39 and I’m getting on this fucking taxi! It’s literally adorable in a non Hello Kitty sense, while being usable and even my senior mother could get into the seat and out again. Is cybercab literally just a taxi for young men without children?
How old are you? Do you have any joint or back problems? I’m wondering if it would be difficult for me or my senior mother to get in or out of the seat unassisted.
Same as your statement though
Calling two taxis can pretty safely be assumed to cost twice as much
And it looks like a London black cab, how about that.
No lidar, no no thanks
Great concept! I still would prefer to drive occasionally.
Delamain, welcome
Tesla has got to be very close to producing these since they’ve been sending the prototypes to a bunch of dealers around the world
I used to take a lot of Ubers living in a big city. Lots of socialising late, after work drinks, eating out etc... the Uber home was normally split with friends and relatively cheap compared to other living costs. A car and parking permit would be way more expensive. You'd always be less than 5 mins from a collection so you'd just book as you were finishing up
You would be surprised how often I have full loads.
Where is this and is IFmetall there?
Reeks Incel insecurity
Yeah as soon as I saw the dash board I immediately thought of the Titan sub
I saw a youtube video or TikTok or whatever it was about the design of the new Black Cab - and it is THOROUGHLY thoughtfully designed. It's useless for a family car, of course; but for it's use it's really perfect.
And Uber et al are pushing them all aside. It’s a shame.
yeah like a bus
They’re backwards looking. Don’t understand what it takes to solve hard problems
They have plans for a bus for large groups. But I think the goal would be to be getting a good car for a 80% solution. Four seats reduces trunk space for a small car, if you increase the car size you increase difficulty to park and efficiency. There are also already model 3s and Ys and the plan is to introduce them as taxis as well. My guess is they built a car focused for the highest profit, lowest cost sector which covers 80% instead of creating something that fixes 100% I think you’re underestimating costs of adding more seats and losing trunk space. Or creating a larger car with a bigger battery and everything that comes with it.
This looks like a very impractical car: 1. The doors seem like they need lots of space to open, making it impractical for dense cities. 2. The lack of back window makes it not only dark but unsafe, as it limits the view from outside to what’s going on in the car (law enforcement will hate this.) 3. It only seats two people… without bags. Meaning, no airport services and no grocery shopping. 4. The lights seem to incorporate the same problem of the cybertruck with snow… making it not only impractical but also dangerous. 5. It has sadly become a political statement.
100% something where you can sit comfortably, put your belongings in and out with easy. Accessible to everyone young and old etc
I don’t know why they thought painting the side walls gold was a good idea. It just looks trashy and stupid.
to change a generation, it starts with the kids. People think Facebook, youtube, instagram, apple, all started with the boomers. Nah, we were the kids when it blew up and all our parents hated it. cyber cab will be the same
WTF is that color and wheel choice? Are we trying to make cars uglier? 💀💀
I love the doors that open up into traffiс. It's all about flash, nothing about usefulness, that's what keeps the idiots pumping the stock.
Cyberear
Sound stage or real world?
Anyone ordered "ugliness on 4 wheels"? ... "ugliness on 4 wheels" ... ..... Anyone???
It’s about cost. This will be the most energy efficient production EV ever made. It will have a small 40 KWH battery.
Who or what is designing cars at tesler? UgMo
Crab car. Nobody wants to climb down in a cab. They need to make it way higher.
Interior looks like shit, as usual. Budget restrictions hitting hard. Regardless, this is going to change everything. Can't wait!
Tesla 🚀🚀💪🦾🦾
Honestly I’d love one for myself. I like driving but I fucking hate people. People are absolutely awful drivers and I just want to hop in my car and just be driven somewhere while taking a short nap. I’d also love to see it try the tail of the dragon.
Have nobody thought about potholes? Like what are those rims?
Best selling EV truck despite the vitriol so they’re doing something right after all. Model 3 got the same “imminent demand cliff” blog posts in 2018

Cool
I’d rather American made EVs in Europe than Chinese ones.
I do a ton of Uber/taxi for work. Two seats is more than enough. Seems like 99% of all taxi rides in a city is one person. To an airport/train station not that much. But everyday rides seems to be single occupancy
I saw it at the LA auto show. I thought it kinda looked ugly.

I wish they did the lightbars for the Highland 😭
Most of the parts will come from the model 3, I assume it has its drivetrain as well

Shouldn’t it be on the street?
This will age like milk lul
This gold is so gaudy.
Oh my god, I just remembered this hideous thing has no back seats. LOL.

You are simply pontificating on who is financing the cars and on whose balance sheet does the capex land. That’s largely immaterial to whether the technology works. Tesla provides the FSD software, they will also provide the RoboTaxi software (taxi app similar to Uber, routing, billing, fleet management, etc). If FSD doesn’t work, it’s pointless to argue about whether you can scale up quickly by selling cars to third-parties or raise the capital yourself to launch in more markets quickly.
This car wasn't designed for practicality. It was designed for 'wow, futuristic' factor. To excite certain people and investors. It's like no one even considered a functional taxi experience.
The dumbest designed “cab” ever.
I'm quite old, but not that old. I was more talking about the seat and legroom. Yes there is something to be said for cars that are higher up. My dad has a 3 and has a little trouble getting in and out, but they also have a Y and he finds it easier (even though he much prefers the ride in the 3). Still, being lower helps with price and efficiency, so I think it was the right call. You will be able to request a Y as well. The Cybercab was intended to meet 80-90% of the market, not 100%.
