Nakatomi2010 2024-10-21 19:01

To clarify, it looks like the intent behind this is to allow people to transfer FSD off of a Cybertruck purchase, onto a new Tesla vehicle of any kind, including another Cybertruck.

N8Howell33 2024-10-21 19:03

Correct. Any former FSD transfer can go to CT, too. Before it was all others BUT CT. Demand lever

1FrostySlime 2024-10-21 19:24

Well that was because until like 3 weeks ago you could only get a foundation series that came with FSD

Kimorin 2024-10-21 19:28

wallet safe unless tesla offers unlimited free supercharging transfers

N8Howell33 2024-10-21 19:29

Or 0% interest with FSD TRANSFER

volklkatana 2024-10-21 19:41

Have my VIN and waiting on delivery next week, timing of this could not be better!!

PlasticDiscussion590 2024-10-21 19:56

So there is a demand issue at $75k

skotywa 2024-10-21 19:57

Hoping they do this when project Juniper becomes available in the US. Should I expect to be disappointed?

N8Howell33 2024-10-21 19:58

I think at all levels there is a demand issue. The CT owners that got it early, money mostly not an issue. Now that the backlog of those is gone, demand is lower.

B1Turb0 2024-10-21 20:02

Welp. There goes my justification for why buying the foundation series was still worth it lol 😬😬

B1Turb0 2024-10-21 20:02

Huh? So could I have transferred FSD from my Y to a new CT?

specter491 2024-10-21 20:10

Yes

aptwo 2024-10-21 20:24

How about FSD transfer for current owner of other models?

N8Howell33 2024-10-21 20:24

Yep. All of those already qualified

disasterless 2024-10-21 20:27

How do I do the transfer?

N8Howell33 2024-10-21 20:31

order a new car and then ask to transfer FSD from current car to NEW car. Old car will no longer have FSD

N8Howell33 2024-10-21 20:31

as of Today, yes

p3n9uins 2024-10-21 20:36

enjoy!!

KlausSlade 2024-10-21 20:37

How many trucks can Shaq buy?

binzo21 2024-10-21 20:42

Yea because everyone waiting for the tax credit

binzo21 2024-10-21 20:42

Yea because everyone waiting for the tax credit

Sugacookiees 2024-10-21 20:49

If they did unlimited free supercharging I would get it and it would make up for the subpar range (based on original announcement). Free charging came in handy on road trips in my 2012 S despite how infrequent I did a long trip.

Sugacookiees 2024-10-21 20:49

monkeybusiness124 2024-10-21 21:00

I will pull the purchase trigger so fast when they open up FUSC transfers and FSD again for the Cybertruck, especially given the discrepancies between announced vs released products I out my reservation down for

casino_r0yale 2024-10-21 21:13

Why would they? This is a demand lever and the Y isn’t lacking for customers, especially if it’s a new model

volklkatana 2024-10-21 21:34

Thanks, incredibly excited

Jaws12 2024-10-21 21:35

They’ve done it once before, hope they do it again some day. It should just be a standard one-time courtesy transfer for vintage vehicles that have it.

ObeseSnake 2024-10-21 21:41

CT will probably never have FUSC transfers since you can power your house with your CT. Imagine the abuse of that.

TheKobayashiMoron 2024-10-21 22:17

First step. Next is price cuts. Holding out for $69,420, tax credit, and FSD transfer. Let's go!

cadium 2024-10-21 22:44

Yep, same here. Probably Q1 2025 the way things seem to be going.

monkeybusiness124 2024-10-21 22:51

Hence why I’d pull the trigger immediately lol. Not that I would abuse/use it for that, but would be a nice benefit.

tenminusone 2024-10-21 23:07

I’d but if this was the case.

ChunkyThePotato 2024-10-21 23:34

It's already the best-selling electric pickup truck despite its high price. So yeah, it wouldn't be surprising if it needed lower prices to continue growing from here. Sales are already at a very high level relative to its competitors. Demand is high, but not necessarily "100k units sold annually at $80k each" high. That would be insane.

ChunkyThePotato 2024-10-21 23:34

You think they'd have trouble selling 50k units annually at $20k, for example?

Pshad4Bama 2024-10-21 23:41

💯

N8Howell33 2024-10-21 23:43

Probably not

ChunkyThePotato 2024-10-21 23:52

So then "all levels" makes no sense.

N8Howell33 2024-10-21 23:57

Well all the current cars are 15k more than 20k, so a 75% increase in price. That’s the difference.

sowaffled 2024-10-22 00:04

I charge at home so it’s really insignificant how much I’d save with free supercharging transfer but it’s just nice going on road trips or feeling like I’m saving $20 with my free supercharging Model 3.

Kimorin 2024-10-22 00:10

yeah it's not much but it's something i would rather not give up for those once in a while trips, probably doesn't make a big difference financially but it's just nice to have

02bluesuperroo 2024-10-22 00:19

Does FSD even work on cybertruck?

N8Howell33 2024-10-22 00:21

Yes.

Buuuddd 2024-10-22 01:14

Maybe not. Futureaza points out that if you transfer to the official FSD (Supervised) Tesla can then collect the deferred revenue from that FSD sale.

zR0B3ry2VAiH 2024-10-22 01:49

quiet expansion caption market wakeful fanatical physical cow cobweb pot *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev/home)*

TheWay0fLife 2024-10-22 01:57

Subpar only compared to the Trimotor version. For the AWD it's actually exceeding the original 300 mile claim.

yashdes 2024-10-22 01:59

Or actually sell the truck I reserved at the price agreed lol

a9uirre 2024-10-22 02:09

What if they sold them for a $1!! Did you consider that?? Smh this dude asking about $20k lmaooo

ChunkyThePotato 2024-10-22 02:15

I just don't understand what point you're making. The lower the price goes the more units they sell.

N8Howell33 2024-10-22 02:17

Lower the price, the more likey they will have consumers. The higher the cost, the less units they sale. If they made a 20K car, it would sale way more units.

PlasticDiscussion590 2024-10-22 02:20

[It’s the best selling ev truck in Q2 of 2024.](https://cleantechnica.com/2024/07/11/teslas-cybertruck-defies-the-naysayers-becomes-best-selling-electric-truck/) that seems fairly easy to do with a 5 year long book of paid reservations to tap into as long as production can keep up. That back log, of willing buyers anyways, has dried up. Without a reservation I can order one today and get it October-November (it’s the end of October now). Same as my delivery timeframe with my reservation. Which I don’t intend to be using until the price comes down.

ChunkyThePotato 2024-10-22 02:22

It's an extreme example to show that obviously they can sell a ton of units if the price were low enough, so "all levels" makes no sense. Like what point was he even making there? At what point is there a "problem"?

ChunkyThePotato 2024-10-22 02:27

Oh, so do you think it won't be the best-selling electric pickup truck anymore from now on?

ChunkyThePotato 2024-10-22 02:28

You said "at all levels there is a demand issue". How does that make sense?

N8Howell33 2024-10-22 02:30

See above. All levels as in the cars they sell, all have demand issues. Cheapest car is 35k post tax. There is no 20k car so all levels of Tesla’s have a demand issue. See the 0% they just announced, further illustrating they need incentives to sell any of their current models at all levels.

Tower-Union 2024-10-22 02:37

Make another FUSC transfer offer and I’d buy one today.

Tower-Union 2024-10-22 02:37

Make another FUSC transfer offer and I’d buy one today.

a9uirre 2024-10-22 02:43

I think OP meant at all levels that the truck could realistically be sold considering the cost of manufacturing.

ChunkyThePotato 2024-10-22 03:08

Turns out he didn't mean that: https://www.reddit.com/r/teslamotors/comments/1g8xq94/comment/lt41tsw But we don't know what they'll get the cost of manufacturing down to anyway. For example, if they can get the cost down to $50k and sell 100k units annually for $60k, that would be a good result. 200k would be fantastic. We just don't know where things will land right now.

Pandaboy007 2024-10-22 03:17

Agreed.

IndependentNarwhal85 2024-10-22 03:20

I don't think this is true, I'm not seeing anything at Tesla that CT is supported for this.

IndependentNarwhal85 2024-10-22 03:20

Do you see anything on Tesla's site? I'm not seeing anything official for the CT.

N8Howell33 2024-10-22 03:21

See the attached tweet in the initial post

firstrival 2024-10-22 03:29

Free supercharging + FSD transfer and I'm in.

Doctor_McKay 2024-10-22 03:55

Get a powershare home backup bundle and just spend your time charging up for free then powering your home lol

IndependentNarwhal85 2024-10-22 04:43

I don’t think this is correct. In the mobile app it still says Cybertruck is excluded and I’ve seen nothing official from Tesla that this is accurate. Everybody is going off of Sawyer’s Tweet. https://preview.redd.it/whiyn2s4m8wd1.jpeg?width=1320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5a8960c598dd4c1cb9ef25f96c5fb5245317ad7

IndependentNarwhal85 2024-10-22 04:45

But that Tweet is from a random dude. It’s not an official Tweet from Tesla. The in-app message still says Cybertruck is excluded. https://preview.redd.it/7bkbyqykm8wd1.jpeg?width=1320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4d36a2d35292c4cd88638ad225f81dd72b59acc2

TAoie83 2024-10-22 05:14

Ahh shit

Tookmyprawns 2024-10-22 06:25

Incentives come when models aren’t moving. https://tesla-info.com/blog/inventory-stats-regional/Global Model 3 update took less than a year to start getting incentives. But Y is Tesla’s bread and butter. They could just be a model y company and probably make more profit.

Tookmyprawns 2024-10-22 06:32

I was thinking people could do that and pay for their truck almost. Would be pretty hard on the batteries though. At some point free super charging will be stopped because of this.

g1aiz 2024-10-22 08:08

They just put 0% financing on the Y.

jeremyj0916 2024-10-22 08:17

They are now offering 0% on m3 and mY in US.

PlasticDiscussion590 2024-10-22 12:02

At founder edition pricing? Absolutely not. At current pricing? Why would they offering incentives if demand were meeting or exceeding supply? What I learned from owning a pandemic pricing MY is Tesla has no issue dropping prices to move cars.

tynamite 2024-10-22 12:11

there was no "agreed" price

yashdes 2024-10-22 12:52

I don't agree, that is a legal technicality. Any other company would sell the product for what they said (and done the math properly to ensure they can fulfill) but for the sake of argument, I'll settle for a truck with 500 miles of range as promised for the current price. Oh that doesn't exist? Shocked.

theloudestlion 2024-10-22 13:35

I have a feeling that if I walked into Tesla today I could transfer FSD unlimited free supercharging and free premium connectivity with little issue if it meant buying a new car. Could be naive but that would be the only way I do it. That or the frictionless ability to transfer all of that to the new owner of my car so I could sell that package.

N8Howell33 2024-10-22 13:46

Love this, thanks!

And it's not 4k, it's 1080p.

yashdes 2024-10-22 14:58

Cyberbeast will be <85k by end of next year, guaranteed

casino_r0yale 2024-10-22 15:57

Yeah to clear out old inventory. Not when a brand new model is launching

StarshipMars 2024-10-22 16:08

They’d at least have my attention then.

g1aiz 2024-10-22 17:22

They don't have that much inventory and they also have 0% for the Model 3 which most definitely is not getting a new model.

diskiller 2024-10-22 18:43

0% and FSD transfer and I'm all in on a cyberbeast.

nevetsyad 2024-10-22 21:52

Their page says this offer was active 10 October. Nothing about Cybertruck being ineligible. https://www.tesla.com/support/fsd-transfer#:\~:text=You%20can%20transfer%20an%20FSD,vehicle%20on%20the%20same%20account.

ElGuano 2024-10-23 04:51

As our car gets older we just supercharge it all the time. Need a top-off? Stop by Target. We are at least getting our money’s worth out of that perk.

[deleted] 2024-10-23 10:58

[removed]

tynamite 2024-10-23 13:41

any reason you think we havent seen the tax credit yet? i find it unusual i thought it was going to be an option. its available for the model x at the same price.

TheKobayashiMoron 2024-10-23 14:26

I’m hoping just a paperwork filing thing with the EPA or IRS or whoever. I know I’ve read other instances of tax returns being rejected on other Tesla models because the VIN wasn’t in the database of eligible vehicles yet so I’m hoping that’s all it is for now and not something to do with the battery components.

tynamite 2024-10-23 15:08

yeah I’m hoping for the same thing.

Tower-Union 2024-10-23 18:21

Eh, they offered it last October and extended it till March. With the Juniper update coming they may need to car inventory.

Sea-Trainer4181 2024-10-24 02:18

Can I transfer fsd from cybertruck Foundation to new model y?
