Shortcut to lights?

BlazerStoner | 2026-03-11 23:57 | 3 views

Hi, Is there any way to get a shortcut to the lights menu? Much like you can place a shortcut to the wiper settings in your app bar? Reason I ask is because in autumn/winter I have to use the front fog lights on the Model Y quite often; fog can occur in banks suddenly. But it requires you to - whilst driving - tap the car button to enter the menu, then find the lights tab, then find the position for the fog lights button and hover over it, lean over and tap it. All whilst driving in poor visibility where you really want to be focusing on the road really well. So I do know that you can conjure a small menu by pulling the left stick, but this also flashes the brights or worse: enables (auto-)brights, causing a vision limiting wall of light in front of you. That and sometimes other people think you’re flashing at them. Its all sub-ideal. I started looking for ways to get a safer shortcut to them, but you cannot put it as an icon in the app bar and you can’t conjure it with the left steering wheel button either. Ideally, its an icon in the app bar. But I couldn’t find any way to make it happen. Is this simply not possible at all or am I overlooking something? :) **-EDIT: SOLVED-** Thanks to the comments: *any* of the light indicators (like the green headlights icon) on your screen is a shortcut which makes the small lights menu pop-up :)

Hold the right button and tell it to turn on fog lights. Job done!

Why don’t you just leave them on?

WilliamG007 2026-03-12 00:33

This. I leave mine on so they come on with headlights.

If you have them on whilst the visibility is more than 200 meters, its subject to a fine of €130. :/ (Of course if its on a road with intermittent banks they won’t fine if they so happen to catch you in between banks, that’d be unreasonable, but if its not foggy its €130 for the front fog lights and €190 for the rear fog lights (and rears are fined at visibility > 50 meters.))

I do wish there was a shortcut for the rear ones though. Always a pain to dig through the menu.

Rear ones I don’t leave on. Just the front ones.

I’ve tried that, but it didn’t understand what I want no matter how I phrased it :( But last time I tried was over a year ago, simply never tried again. With new software updates, maybe it does understand it now - I’ll give it another shot next time, thanks!

The rear ones don’t remain on - they reset each drive.

The headlight status icon on the screen is a shortcut.

This. I just discovered this unintentionally the other day when I noticed my fog lights were still on. Taped the icon and was presented with a lights options card.

You can touch the light icon on upper left of the screen is lights are already on. If not you can pull on the left stalk (flashing headlights) it makes the menu appears also.

Well I suppose that’s an ok price to pay for free healthcare and a semi functional government. Try voice commands (idk if this will work I can test later.)

Oooh! That’d be absolutely perfect, i’m going to try that - thank you! :) Never thought of tapping any of those. -edit- This works, thanks!!

Great question — I do that all the time, too!
