I know a while back there were some different headliners. Is one older and one newer?
Updated screen job the first one as well
Dark headliner is the newer one. It comes with slightly bigger 16” screen too
If you’re not in a rush I would wait for the one on the left. It’s slightly newer and better.
The black headliner has a 16” screen. In my opinion, the black headliner looks so much better with the white interior too. Otherwise the headliner is an off gray color, so your interior will be three different colors.
Updated may have a slightly different FSD computer too.
autopilot?
FSD transfer so doesn't matter anyway for me.
Got it, thanks. The weird thing is they list the Y as all having the new screen, but clearly taking an inventory is not the case (which people including me would be pissed).

Thanks, I will wait
They might have added the new screen before the liner. But definitely don’t get one without the black headliner
Nope. A little scummy of them to clear old inventory. I heard people got bait and switched so I’m going to pay extra attention when taking delivery of my model Y next week 😬
Great thanks. It's super confusing (and I'm sure intentional) as none of the configurators say that inventory cars are any different. In fact, the 'order' page shows the Y's as all having the newer screens. In fact, none of the Compare section says that an inventory car is ANY different to ordering a new one. https://preview.redd.it/b2h2xizffing1.jpeg?width=1916&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a35cc08de25e8a9976a39d5c94b476203bda1a7e
I think the rumored hw4.5 mislabel is inside the black headliner cars. Tbd if it's actually a mislabel
Yeah. It's really scummy. It's super confusing (and I'm sure intentional) as none of the configurators say that inventory cars are any different. In fact, the 'order' page shows ALL the Y's as all having the newer screens. In fact, none of the Compare section says that an inventory car is ANY different to ordering a new one. There is no disclosure that an inventory car may not actually follow what they say is a feature of the car I'm buying.
I think some Y Performances had the updated screen without the new headliner. But all of the AWD 16 inch are black headliners
It appears to be the dark headliner
That’s correct
Berline RWD is also getting big screen
Black headliner is way better.
If you don’t take delivery by 3/31, FSD won’t transfer. And they’re not gonna give you any leeway because they’re offering you an in-inventory vehicle today.
I took an inventory vehicle with my 3 but there hasn’t been any changes happening so getting it sooner was nice.
It should be clearer, but there are people where this option fits their need and it may be a good option. It just depends on your priorities. Like you I like having the latest and greatest, but others need something fast or in my wife’s case she prefers the lighter headliner.
As someone else mentioned, that’s potentially a huge difference. You have to take delivery by 3/31 or they won’t honor the FSD transfer. The one on the left might be cutting it really close.
if this is a M3, the left one has the newer black headliner...and possibly the 16inch screen too. the right one most likely has the older white headliner and the smaller screen. if you are in canada, it's also possible the one on the left may be coming from china since canada recently reduced its tariffs on chinese imports making them cheaper than importing from the us.
It seems only difference is black headliner which I wish I had
This is the model Y
Just wait for the black headliner. It looks nicer and includes the newer screen.
And 5g modem for when 5g on Tesla gets rolled out
Apparently Tesla just shipped a bunch of inventory from Canada back to the US to take advantage of the Chinese imports into Canada. So if I was to guess they're clearing out inventory in the USA that they couldn't sell in Canada... I wouldn't expect much less from a company that doesn't care about their customers.
Looks like a 2-3 week wait for a dark headliner. Based on the delta toggle
Tiny difference but the badging on the rear is now black instead of silver if that is the Premium AWD model. And like everyone is saying, the headliner and screen are different too
Dark headliner? I didn’t know that was a thing. I wish mine had that.
The available now comes with hard to clean headliner and now outdated screen that we know of

It’s not just that the screen is bigger, it’s also a higher resolution, so all text and images are sharper. It even looks better than a Model X screen, which is bigger (17 vs 16) but in comparison, the sharpness of the 16 inch MY screen is better. I have a MY with the dark headliner, new screen and mysterious AP4.5 computer and my colleague just got a 2026 MX. You said you are doing FSD transfer so you are running out of time before the deadline.
Pls pray for a 2-3 week deadline.... So dumb they changed it to "dleievey" vs "ordered" for fsd.
My eyesight may need it 🤣
I know! I picked mine up on 1/30 so had plenty of time for the FSD transfer but got 2.99% financing as that’s all they offered then.
Nothing that would make any headlines /s
Don’t take that without a discount.
I went from a 3 highland to the new y with the bigger screen. Surprisingly it is noticeable but not in a wow its way bigger way. Just in a way that it feels more appropriate for the car kind of way. Its weird
How is it scummy? They have ready to deliver cars that need to be sold, it clearly says the difference in the screenshot
Do you see any mention of the 16” screen? Because none of us do, and for those that don’t follow every piece of Tesla news like you do, it’s no t obvious. When one spends 50k on a new car, I’d like to think they want the latest and greatest. Edit: now to my Tesla’s sales rep’s credit, they did let me know of the recent change and made sure I’m getting the updated one. But I’m willing to bet not all sales reps care as much
In the future we may learn that other things have changed too. Like the 4.5 print on the mcu. What does that mean? No one knows yet. Considering how fast Tesla is to dump customers who were unlucky and get older hardware, there is no way I would accept an older spec car without a serious discount. You definitely made the right choice.
Also ask for discount in case you want the car earlier and need the inventory option.
The “see the differences” leaves off the screen change, which some people might actually care about a lot. The “the old/lesser thing is so minor we won’t list it as a difference” decision is definitely unsavory to me.
Updated screen and if you got the 20 rims they are dark grey instead of silver - headliner I don’t care about that much. I like mine with grey and didn’t even notice it wasn’t black until they changed the Y lol.
Did they do that with the model 3 too
my understanding is that all juniper MY have 5g installed (but not enabled).
How to know if u have black headliner or not ?
It says it on the car listing
Already in hand. Thought only 1 version available 🤐.
Got inventory car
99% of purchasers are not on this forum, and don't care about a slightly larger screen or resolution.
You might even get hw 4.5 I would check
Can you not read?
Can you be more annoying?
I’m not the one that asked if there is a difference yet the screenshot shared has a difference. Talk about annoying.
Given you are apparently a Y owner, you would know there is a difference as one has a different headliner and a new, bigger, higher resolution screen, and possibly HW 4.5. But you're right. You're the smart one.
They all have them. None of them are turned on.
I might be totally mistaken but when I test drove the new model, I felt like the screen didn’t get as bright? I remember thinking I preferred the older screen
