Really sorry to hear that, I'd definitely question the dealerahip here. I bought a Seal that had some blemishes and they didn't just sort it for me, they sorted it rapidly and posted it direct to my house so I didn't have to go to the dealership to collect it again. They also let me use another of their cars while I waited.

Wow, it looked a like a second hand car ...

That's bad, I would not accept that unit even if they fixed the issues, I don't think they can fix the dents in seats anyway

You shouldn’t have accepted it.

That car is a used car and perhaps water damaged. Look at the door trim in the third picture.

This was your import or this is actually a car actually being sold locally? If second this is shocking.
This is for sure looks like used car. I bought once locally and imported two new cars myself, never anything like this. Don’t accept it and ask a replacement

Probably gave you a showroom unit. Happens all the time as the display units are part of the inventory and needs to be moved.
They probably rushed the clean up and didn't do a good job.

I got a demo Atto 3 with 5000kms on it and it was perfect. Not a single mark on it. And I purchased it in a rush and needed it that weekend so BYD Brisbane had me go back 2 weeks later for it to be fully detailed. I would not have accepted delivery or at the least demanded an appointment to return it and have the issues rectified. Good thinking to take photos!

Welcome to owning a BYD. Absolutely horrible how yours was received. I wouldn’t have take it either. But unfortunately this is BYDs standards of customer service. I would say jump now if you can, once something goes wrong, and it will, BYD will be non existent when it comes to helping their customers. Seal Performance here and worst car I’ve owned. If I even stop one person from buying their inferior product then I’ve saved someone heartache and grief. Hopefully they cleaned it and fixed all the dented seats as well as the scratches.

I have researched about BYD’s marketing startegy. Here’s what i found:
China has incentives for the company for every EV car sold.
BYD overproduces vehicles and lists it all as sold to claim the incentives.
The “sold” vehicles are then parked at their massive open parking space until its transfer to other BYD stores internationally.
What you’re seeing is a somewhat worn out car because of their open parking space.
Basically they are selling us 0km second hand cars. Meaning, second hand unused cars for lesser price compared to competitors.

I am from PH. I just bought the seal 5 a week ago. I have noticed there are some mud dirts/ worn out marks at the crevices of the car and also a grease stain at the ceiling of my car.

Your comment is half fact, not completely right. It's more complicated and it depends to where their sold, which country/ region.
However, doesn't help the poster.
Let's assume the car was parked somewhere, a simple parking sue over production, wouldn't case that marks

I personally wouldn't take the car or not complete the payment.
Any statement from them?
Not sure how you handle things in China, here I would give this to the lawyer and let them clarify by lawsuit.
Nobody would force me to take a factory new car, with such marks.
There are only two possibilities, changing the affected parts completely and for the days you do not have a car, rent a car.
This is not a factory issue, not BYD to blame as manufacturer, this is a BYD dealer issue. The dealer took over the car without making a correct check or did it, thinking you would take it.
(Looks like the seats where folded for a long time, with the seat belts clipped in. This caused the imprints.)
Worst case
withdraw from the contract
Buy car different dealer or get a hugh discount
Can you update us? What did you do?

With their other comment of only 12km on it ... quite possibly used as a static demo for awhile
James__TR
2025-11-20 09:56
It's possible their vehicle was used as a static demonstrator which would definitely put wear on the vehicle without adding km's
James__TR

Almost sounds like it was used as a static demonstrator

Ah, Hong Kong. The stereotype of horrible customer service hasn't died yet 😂 I hope you will get a new car for real. That looks like a demo car which possibly hundreds of people have sat and moved around in it. 🙏

Are you able to import it to the US?
