A.I took my voice

papiD209 | 2026-03-05 13:58 | 82 views

I've been wanting to talk about this for a few days. Now, when I was using the AI in the car, I was asking the questions about comic books and give it a long detailed question. And then there's a pause, and then i heard my voice and going over my question and giving me the answer I was shock, and then I ask, are you using my voice. And then it went back to the woman voice instead, saying, no, I'm AI. Has anyone else gone through this..

I saw someone else post about this same thing maybe a week ago on this or another Tesla sub. Was it you?

the-supreme-mugwump 2026-03-05 14:02

Seen several posts about this lately

nevetsyad 2026-03-05 14:05

Common bug we've seen posted a few times in the last few weeks. Still creepy I'm sure. hah

woody60707 2026-03-05 14:07

I tried getting my Tesla to copy my voice, it doesn't work.

Enragedocelot 2026-03-05 14:15

Someone posted about that this week. So yes. But also I noticed yesterday when I was having it explain shit to me that its voice would change throughout. And the funniest was when I said break it down more simply, it would talk in broken sentences. Lmao

Some black mirror shit

Angry_Robot 2026-03-05 14:28

You’re training your replacement, meat bag.

Momo411176 2026-03-05 14:38

Wasn’t there a post that this is an upcoming Grok voice feature - training it to use your own voice?

benjamin_ho 2026-03-05 14:41

This exact thing happened to me the other day. Asked it if it was using my voice and it switched back to the original and said no. I didn’t like it lol

Ivan27stone 2026-03-05 14:45

lol

StormTrpr66 2026-03-05 14:53

Looking through older posts all over the internet, I've seen reports of this going back to October or November. AI isn't supposed to be allowed to clone biometrics but apparently no one told Grok. Gotta wonder what Tesla is up to with this. All the reports say that Grok insists it didn't do that, and can't do that, but obviously Grok is lying. Pretty scary.

Get a little more creative with the story next time. This one is old now.

Cr0n_J0belder 2026-03-05 15:58

Happened to me last weekend

Grok is obviously lying. Scary that an AI is allowed to lie to you. In my case it imitated my wife's South American accent when she started speaking to it in Spanish. At first it responded in Spanish but with an American accent. After a couple of sentences it picked up on her accent and started speaking with it and even added some regional slang and dialect. It's absolutely listening to the person's voice.

Replicating a voice isn't a bug. Thats intentional. The bug is it getting through but why are they doing that in the first place?

sparkyblaster 2026-03-05 17:35

Who would even want that?

sparkyblaster 2026-03-05 17:35

Clearly thats not true because something has access

sparkyblaster 2026-03-05 17:36

Yeah, I am at the point where these cars have been kinda ruined for me. Ever since the current refresh everything has been going down hill and this sort of stuff isn't helping.

LordFly88 2026-03-05 18:14

Yeah, don't most people hate their own voice? I could see wanting other people's voices, like when the old GPS units had celebrity options. But who would want their own?

LordFly88 2026-03-05 18:15

Is there video of this happening?

sparkyblaster 2026-03-05 18:30

And that would be in the context of a choice being made, likely not of a family member.  So why is from/Tesla collecting voices?

OutrageousCandidate4 2026-03-05 20:24

Sounds like an Easter egg

Packing-Tape-Man 2026-03-05 20:38

Various people have posted them. There's been dozens of posts about this here and in the other popular groups.

Packing-Tape-Man 2026-03-05 20:39

>AI isn't supposed to be allowed Says who? There may be recommendations but very few legal guardrails yet.

Packing-Tape-Man 2026-03-05 20:40

Yeah that's a lie though.

Packing-Tape-Man 2026-03-05 20:41

Not a story. Plenty of posts about this, and videos. Even some articles.

audigex 2026-03-05 21:47

Grok is clearly the least ethical of the major AI companies It seems like they’re training their system on user voices, and there’s a bug that means it’s parroting it back to you

Ok_Database_8706 2026-03-06 01:22

Ummm. I haven’t seen that yet.

Saltedcaramel3581 2026-03-06 02:44

This is creepy as hell 😱😱😱

Dry_Situation_3582 2026-03-06 02:58

😂

Dry_Situation_3582 2026-03-06 03:00

I think about BM in my car all the time! Are they gonna post videos of me picking my nose or singing my heart out to Whitney Houston? Hopefully, they don't share recordings of me rapping to Tupac, I'm way too white, 40's female 😂

jkdufair 2026-03-06 22:10

Grok is gross

Perfect_Address7250 2026-03-07 04:58

this is an artifact of end to end voice models.

CarbonKLR 2026-03-08 02:15

Our successor

IcyRayns 2026-03-08 03:26

No. It’s not, and you have zero reason to think that it is. Read one of my last comments, it’s very normal with the way they’ve architected the pipeline, as someone who builds AI systems for a living.

sparkyblaster 2026-03-08 03:46

For those playing at home I think you mean this. https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaLounge/comments/1ri1yhu/comment/o8a2uso/ I thought all of them still did voice to text then the LLM only got the text. Especially when its a system with a text option. So I assume if this doesn't, then its usual a different model to what you find on X?

IcyRayns 2026-03-08 04:05

“A different model” is both right and not quite right. The core (hidden) layers can be fairly consistent with just new attention input and token output layers trained on top, so it behaves the same other than the way you interact with it.
