Bad body work?

tacticianlab | 2026-03-03 23:23 | 5 views

Tesla dealer fixed my 2021 model Y like this and said the lower right line is normal and has to be there for protection. Paid for full body work. This seems way wrong? What do I do?

It's a patch of paint protection film, Tesla's in Northern climates often get this as an added bonus and it costs nothing to the customer. It's not really advertised as far as I know. This is a good thing, and will in fact protect your paint there.

Looks like PPF film?

It looks really ugly though. I can see it being better on a non white car?

Are you referring to the PPF to protect the fenders? That area gets blasted by rocks since the fenders are flared out, and the paint chips.Especially if you don’t have mudflaps. It’s optional, I added to my car since it didn’t come with it.

It’s only ugly because you haven’t cleaned your car. It’s practically invisible when the car is clean.

The rock chips are uglier. The doors on my 21 looked like crap after 4 years and 90k miles. It did not have the protection

It's there to protect that area from debris. It's clear ppf. If you don't want it, you can peel it off.
