Will Tesla know?

Cardinals4505 | 2026-03-02 05:17 | 6 views

My wife was hit by a shopping cart and Sentry missed it. This is a lease and was wondering anyone has had a repair through a non-Tesla body shop and did Tesla know. Other than a scuffed bumper and paint repair plus wheel well trim replacement, doesn’t seem too bad. I plan to pay cash for the repair. Also anyone in body work who might know what this will cost to repair?

Tesla won’t know or care as long as the car returns back with no damage

Tesla has eyes everywhere, better check the vents in your house. \*\*They are always watching\*\*

They will, I just shared this to The Musk himself

pretty obvious damage imo. you'd have to get very lucky for them not to notice/care

I knew they were the cause of the noise up in my attic 🤣

Try buffing it out.

Well, it’s damaged.

They hire 3rd party inspector for pre-inspection a month or two before lease is up. This will definitely be marked as damage. The plastic piece can be easily fixed with some sanding and heat gun. Get some touch up paint for the bumper, look up youtube on how to prep the surface and apply touch up paint. a month before scheduled inspection, don't wash the car and leave it as dirty and dusty as possible.

Are you sure that is a shopping cart? Your bumper is bent.

Oh sh*t

Misophonic4000 2026-03-02 07:16

That's not what OP is asking. OP is asking if Tesla will know if they get it repaired without telling them. The answer is, Tesla won't care if it gets fixed and restored to normal condition

Misophonic4000 2026-03-02 07:18

Tesla, just like any other automaker, won't care one bit as long as the car gets fixed to normal condition. You can use your comprehensive coverage, Tesla isn't going to go after you for repairing the car - as long as the job isn't botched, of course.
