Will The Cybertruck TailGate Get Hardware Upgrades ?

FL_MILLIONAIRE | 2026-02-25 11:35 | 0 views

I have been thinking about two potential Cybertruck tailgate upgrades and wanted to see what others think: **1, A powered up and down actuator for the tailgate** Something like a soft open and powered close system, like the frunk which is the most useful feature of the CT besides the overhead parking lines IMHO..especially since the tailgate is large and fairly heavy. It seems like a natural fit for a truck that is supposed to be futuristic and highly engineered. **2, A fully retractable tailgate ramp built into the tailgate** Similar to the original concept shown in the YouTube video. Instead of attaching and removing a separate ramp, it would slide out or fold out from inside the tailgate itself. For people using the Cybertruck for dirt bikes, ATVs, people like me (robotics and scientific equipment) or work gear, this seems like it would be extremely practical Do you think Tesla will ever offer these as hardware factory upgrades, or would this be more realistic as an aftermarket solution. Curious what the community thinks about feasibility, weight tradeoffs, cost, and whether software integration would make sense. thanks !

Sales are in freefall. I would not expect new hardware options to come out unless that changes.

I can’t afford one without this feature that would surely add thousands.

aftermarket seems to be the only alternative at the moment, more stuff appears online every couple of months I mod mine once in a while, right now I'm looking into replacing the rear plastic bumper with either aluminum or brushed steel one to get rid of the ugly underneath rear bumper stuff.
