I just told my wife this price in passing and she got very interested. I didn’t know she likes the cybertruck at all. Haha

BootFlop 2026-02-20 22:36

Diamond hands folks, and you can get it down to $54,900! 😂

Omacrontron 2026-02-20 22:40

Annoying because I put down a reservation when it was a 60k truck….how many years ago now??

j824li 2026-02-20 22:42

this. 10 days later it will be cheaper.

fastoid 2026-02-20 22:45

Hey folks! Let's stay calm and firm to motivate Tesla to bring it down to the original announced price of $39,900! No bailing out too soon!

FTD_Brat 2026-02-20 22:45

Yes, and the $50k dual motor model of 2019 would now cost $63k after inflation.

baconreader9000 2026-02-20 22:45

And?

Ahhhorsepoo 2026-02-20 22:45

Waiting for $49,900… then I’ll finally pull the trigger on my Day 1 pre-order

stefanbayer 2026-02-20 22:47

If demand ist low and end of quarter they will even do 50k.

TeslaCrna 2026-02-20 22:48

Is the premium that much different than the base? Can anyone confirm?

AnyEcho1335 2026-02-20 22:51

BOGO on Wednesdays

rsg1234 2026-02-20 22:53

lol at all the people considering purchasing after this tweet. I realize not much Elon says comes to fruition but he’s pretty much letting us know that the pricing will drop if the demand on this one is not great.

willymartin99 2026-02-20 22:55

Demand is low and their thought to increase it is by making a 10 day only FOMO sale??

planko13 2026-02-20 22:59

I think these specs for this price is really compelling when you compare vs other trucks on the market now. I think it’s going to drive up sales enough to hold, maybe +\- $5k Tesla majorly over invested in capacity on this vehicle. Sales need to go wayyyyy up to hit full plant capacity.

KamKorn 2026-02-20 23:00

Random as all hell lol

mhatrick 2026-02-20 23:06

I think that is very possible with a RWD variant

BootFlop 2026-02-20 23:08

It’s market research. Rather than getting a polling firm to try figure out where the proper price positioning is to get desired results they futz with the actual price live until they see order numbers they want. I’ve mentioned in another thread about this “10 day” thing that this all reversion to more how Tesla operated in years past.

BootFlop 2026-02-20 23:13

It’s a little like buying a car through eBay. OG Tesla.

Expert_Mission2959 2026-02-20 23:14

Thank God that Truck is ugly. I don't see myself rushing out the door to get one. Lol.

OkMathematician3494 2026-02-20 23:14

Make it 60 grand canadian or 39k usd Would sell like hot cakes

Weary-Feedback8582 2026-02-20 23:15

and these are old that have been lying dormant w dead batteries for months, what a deal!

Chip_Baskets 2026-02-20 23:16

It’s a $250 non refundable order fee and truck doesn’t deliver until June, What would stop someone from just canceling their order and losing 250 if the price drops by 10,000.

Alarmmy 2026-02-20 23:16

Hodl!

wilan727 2026-02-20 23:17

Musk unlocking a new 50% market 🙋‍♀️

jedi2155 2026-02-20 23:20

If they get enough demand, they may be able to continue offering it. Otherwise it spells doom for the entire CT model given that you need X amount of production to get economies of scale and cost savings. CT is an expensive vehicle for Tesla to manufacture.

Dneubauer09 2026-02-20 23:21

This is where a base price + options would actually help them. Let me spec what I want to make the price point I want. Clearly they can make them in all sorts of combinations.

AngleFun1664 2026-02-20 23:23

Absolutely nothing. Saves you $9750.

jacob6875 2026-02-20 23:25

Nothing. Until you take delivery you can back out at anytime. You just lose the $250.

Crazy_Day5359 2026-02-20 23:25

That would be $60k today with all the inflation that happened since then

fastoid 2026-02-20 23:27

I understand your feelings, totally. I had the same feelings after I bought MY at the end of 2022 to see the price crushed in 2023 and beyond. Tesla has to try the taste of their medicine, I guess 🤔

alman12345 2026-02-20 23:28

I wouldn’t touch it if it cost the same as the Model Y Premium with the features it is missing, but then again I am not the target demographic for the impractical dorito truck.

Omacrontron 2026-02-20 23:31

I was ready for a new vehicle when they announced the cyborgtruck lmao, not now unfortunately.

K3jai 2026-02-20 23:39

50k for this AWD version. Add premium speakers and rear screen and give option for white interior.

JoeyDee86 2026-02-20 23:41

So, hopefully no one buys it…

fastoid 2026-02-20 23:43

As someone who ordered a cybertruck at the unveil in 2019, and waited a little more than two years to finally order a MY in the beginning of 2022 to wait for another 10 months and get it at the end of 2022 to only see the price crushing in 2023... I have some memories about that. IDK, it seems like Tesla is prone to play their customers with games like that. The entire FSD situation with pumping price to $15,000 and finally dumping it to $99 subscription in the faces of HW2, HW2.5, and HW3 purchasers... Isn't it the time to taste their own medicine?

justned1982 2026-02-20 23:46

$54900 and pay software unlock option for premium speaker, software unlock for boost. 0.99% , this will flood the market.

CarbonKLR 2026-02-20 23:53

Should've done the AWD model for 60k. Then I would've bought for sure. But losing rear heated seats, vented seats, leather, sub trunk, air suspension is not worth it still. Plus not being able to lower rider height at highway speeds reduces range drastically

mrandr01d 2026-02-21 00:03

I would very much like to see Tesla go back to how it was 10 years ago, but with them killing their best cars I don't see that happening. I agree with you though on this being market research for them.

Misophonic4000 2026-02-21 00:07

I might be in the minority in here, but I don't think this kind of pricing/availability nonsense is how a car company should be run

sleal 2026-02-21 00:07

It’s too late to inflict damage back. We’re way past the carrying capacity, too many “normies”, for lack of a better term, won’t be able to help themselves to rush and buy it

imironman2018 2026-02-21 00:07

Tesla pricing is by vibes, apparently. Just crazy how this company operates.

Fidget808 2026-02-21 00:09

I hope it fails. They should make a normal truck. I loved my Model 3 but I got a Lightning simply because of how ugly and impractical the CyberTruck is

JrbWheaton 2026-02-21 00:12

Question is: can Tesla sustain that price without losing a ton of money?

Crazy_Day5359 2026-02-21 00:13

I hear ya. I hated what Tesla did to those customers in 2022. I just don’t see the CT going to $40k while a bare bones model Y costs about that much.

BootFlop 2026-02-21 00:13

> killing their best cars Disagree those were their best. 😜 However Tesla as a whole, “You can never go home again” applies. For starters Musk would need to detox, unbreak his brain. But there’s a bunch of other stuff that wouldn’t work, is fundamentally different. From the scale of it all, the demographics, outlook, capabilities, expectations of their customer base. And so on.

Crazy_Day5359 2026-02-21 00:13

My thoughts as well

_Heathcliff_ 2026-02-21 00:14

With the end of the S/X and now this move I feel like the clock is ticking on the truck

JrbWheaton 2026-02-21 00:14

Even at those prices it would be tough to be a mass market vehicle. It’s just too ugly and the brand damage is just too significant

jedi2155 2026-02-21 00:19

I dont want it to fail, but again market decides it. I voted with my money already, we'll see what works. I love the style and dont particularly like how traditional trucks look.

BootFlop 2026-02-21 00:21

Tesla isn’t going to drop budget/staff on a new pickup clean sheet design anytime soon. 🤷 If you want something better/different than your electrified ICE Ford, the RT1, Silverado EV that’s out already there’s the RT2 & whatever name is for Ford’s upcoming clean sheet. But you won’t be getting a truck from Tesla for at least a decade, I expect.

sleal 2026-02-21 00:25

Same with our country. We’re at the mercy of our dear leaders’s mood swings

Financial_Love_2543 2026-02-21 00:27

It will be 40k in days 😂

CTrandomdude 2026-02-21 00:33

Such a disorganized rollout of a new option. I think it is a great deal. Compare this to other full sized truck offerings and it is a compelling value. Then for Musk to randomly chime in that it is for 10 days only is nuts. No way Tesla engineers did all of this work along with changing the assembly line for 10 days only. Almost sounds like Musk was not in the loop on this and sent out a random tweet because he did not approve. I think this could actually get some of these units sold. As it looks it will never be for me but there is good value at this price.

Misophonic4000 2026-02-21 00:39

I learned the greatness of those whims when I bought a used Model S and days later Elon decided to slash prices across the board on new cars, and my new ride instantly lost \*thousands\* of dollars in value. So much so that when it was time to refinance (which had always been the plan), the new lender would not refi because the computed value of the car was so much lower than what I had just paid for it. Extra fun tidbit: when I asked if they had properly taken into consideration that it had lifetime FSD, they perked up and appeared hopeful - they had not ticked that box for the valuation. When they did... It only added a few hundred bucks to the value and it was still a no-go. No one has confidence in Tesla pricing anymore...

ebkbk 2026-02-21 00:45

It could go down…this is interesting.

ebkbk 2026-02-21 00:47

It’s either gonna be that or they discontinue it

fastoid 2026-02-21 01:08

I ordered the CT at the unveil as it was priced under the MY. Figured out maybe it's a good deal for a bigger car for a lower price...

EmptyWish2138 2026-02-21 01:09

An outdoor nail could go through a car wash

Background_Skill_570 2026-02-21 01:15

Except more pre orders means higher price…. Less pre orders means lower price

shenfever 2026-02-21 01:19

Ticketmaster surge pricing bullshit

less_is_less 2026-02-21 01:20

Nearly everything you buy is priced by supply vs. demand. Cars of any brand are no different.

MagicHoops3 2026-02-21 01:22

45k and FSD transfer and I’m in

less_is_less 2026-02-21 01:23

This is a different trim level than any that have been produced. It’s not like they are bringing them back to the factory and removing options or something.

Fidget808 2026-02-21 01:24

Which is fine with me, I don’t need them to make a traditional truck. But Elon’s shareholders should want them to. Tesla is on a downward trajectory. Robotaxis that cities are hesitant to allow, a CyberTruck that doesn’t sell, they cancelled the S/X to ramp up home robot production that the vast majority of Americans can’t/won’t buy. I’m not sure what’s going on with Elon, and I don’t think Tesla as a company will fail. But their exponential growth will trend downward soon. They’re making a lot of dumb, inexplicable decisions right now.

less_is_less 2026-02-21 01:28

It’s not like this is unique to Tesla. I bought a GM vehicle for a family member on Monday. Part of the reason I did was that GM corporate is offering $10k off until 03/02.

satanforaday 2026-02-21 01:30

If people don't buy, wonder how low the price will go down...

codemonkeyhopeful 2026-02-21 01:32

It's almost like musk .... Isn't smart at all hmmmm

ExplanationLess1083 2026-02-21 01:37

You just have to hire smart people and set a budget for them to work in. That is just smart enough

HighHokie 2026-02-21 01:42

Was the original 40k with a single motor? I can’t recall.

_______o-o_______ 2026-02-21 01:48

That's not market research, that's market manipulation. It's a terrible idea and I expect this little experiment to fail, and they'll point to it as the reason why they cancel the CT. I know several people that bought Model S and Model Y vehicles at peak pricing, and they felt duped just months later when pricing dropped significantly, leaving a very bad impression of the company. At least two of the people I've talked to say they won't be buying another Tesla.

BootFlop 2026-02-21 02:13

🙄

PlatinumPligrim 2026-02-21 02:16

I highly doubt that. I guess we’ll know soon enough

Fore_putt 2026-02-21 02:23

It’s the same truck, they are just trying to move them.

Klutzy_Disk_8433 2026-02-21 02:29

Sad. I had a cybertruck pre ordered years ago when they announced it at this price. I would have got one if they honored that price. But to little to late. Got my wife a y instead.

Impossible_Month1718 2026-02-21 02:34

It’s ugly af but some people would find it interesting at $29k

passiveMelon1 2026-02-21 02:37

Love my lightning, it might not have the tesla tech stack but it's an awesome vehicle.

rasin1601 2026-02-21 02:39

Ok, take the politics out of it. Musk has become a terrible, inconsistent leader.

FuddyCap 2026-02-21 02:54

Incredible deal. What is the battery equivaent of the Cybertruck 9-10 powerwalls ? After just experiencing the Cybertruck driving through 80mph winds on FSD at night in the snow / rain - have to say it is an incredible machine.

BootFlop 2026-02-21 02:56

> But Elon’s shareholders should want them to.  Hard disagree. That window has closed. Spend perhaps 4-6 B$, 4 or 5 years on a me-too aiming at a yet unproven market? That wouldn’t undo the CT misstep.

AdministrativeAd9828 2026-02-21 03:01

If we all band together and not buy it then I guess that means it’ll just become lower

Crazy_Day5359 2026-02-21 03:14

I think so

bgarza18 2026-02-21 03:21

10 days is wild, it’s tax season. Give people a month to get there tax returns and get into buying mood.

rashie8111 2026-02-21 03:29

Not saying the CyberTruck isn't ugly and impractical, but why would they make a normal truck like your Ford Lightning? Your vehicle is already discontinued for a reason.

-MullerLite- 2026-02-21 03:32

You hope it fails yet you bought a truck that has ceased production.

Fidget808 2026-02-21 03:40

The Lightning made it 4 years. We’ll see if the Cybertruck does the same

liquidSpin 2026-02-21 03:47

Just let that P.O.S die already. Take the batteries out and build something better around it

seanocono22 2026-02-21 04:08

The S was unquestionably their best.

msabre__7 2026-02-21 04:14

They’re gonna cancel it and build more robots that won’t work lol

BootFlop 2026-02-21 04:15

If you don’t like driving. Dead serious about that. For better & worse S/X was the Tesla for people that don’t like to drive. And is a maintenance money pit, in the German tradition of Rube Goldberg assembly of brittle little bits. Worse, it had fallen so far behind interior quality compared to direct competition. :/ Why do you suppose sales have been in decline for years?

G0_WEB_G0 2026-02-21 04:17

I don't mind the way it looks but the raised sides defeat the reason to call it a truck. I can no longer just easily throw something in the bed from the driver's door. Amongst other things I want to distance myself from this company they are slowly, in today's standards, turning anti consumer.

OneGear987 2026-02-21 04:19

I would have bought one if it was normal in a second just for FSD.

seanocono22 2026-02-21 04:21

Your argument can be applied to all Tesla vehicles.

LBPalmBeach 2026-02-21 04:54

49,990 I’m in. Willing to wait like many others. Time will tell.

Nkosi868 2026-02-21 04:55

Such a wild way to run a business.

pkyang 2026-02-21 05:46

Completely agree it vexes me

beerissweety 2026-02-21 05:48

Discontinue MS/MX but continue CT?

bustex1 2026-02-21 05:50

Just because one company can’t make it work doesn’t mean all are doomed to fail.

bustex1 2026-02-21 05:54

This was a dumb comment. Every company just comes with a product and price and a “reserve” button online. Based on how many click it is what we use today for market research. If it generates enough clicks the company follows through with it. If not we cancel it.

LeonBlacksruckus 2026-02-21 05:58

Better question is can a car with rear wheel steering and is super heavy (heavier than gas equivalent) actually be only rwd

seenhear 2026-02-21 06:44

Kinda same here, but we got a Silverado EV 4WT.

rashie8111 2026-02-21 06:46

R&D is not cheap. If a company who is so dominant in selling trucks fails in the EV industry, you can bet your ass Tesla won't be touching it with a 10 foot pole.

seenhear 2026-02-21 06:48

The S is amazing to drive. I love it. I've had very few issues, high reliability.

BootFlop 2026-02-21 06:51

>  high reliability 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 It’s amazing to drive if you don’t like driving. 🤷

goodvibezone 2026-02-21 06:56

This would be super compelling if they had build a kick ass SUV

pen-ma 2026-02-21 07:10

$2000 destination fee, they can actualy lower the price to $50K and $10K destination fee.

beezintraps 2026-02-21 07:11

If it's based on demand, I expect it to be cheaper in 10 days

bustex1 2026-02-21 07:15

But rivian is?

Jarrold88 2026-02-21 07:34

Saying most house holds wouldn’t buy a robot to do chores is dumb. There are so many applications. I’d buy 3. One for each of my Airbnb rentals so I can fire my cleaning crew and one for my own house so I can be lazy. They’d pay for themselves in a few months.

673NoshMyBollocksAve 2026-02-21 11:39

Didn’t the lightning get discontinued?

Fidget808 2026-02-21 14:07

The average American can’t afford a $30,000 robot just to do chores, let alone 3 of them. If you can though, good for you

rashie8111 2026-02-21 17:10

It doesn't matter. Look at the direction Tesla is going at the moment. They just discontinued the Model S and X. The Cybertruck isn't selling well. Does it make any sense for them to make a conventional looking truck?

Blazah 2026-02-21 17:12

If there is one robot that is the TOP OF MY LIST TO NEVER BUY and put in my home, it starts with one made by Elon, 2nd goes to anything in china. 3rd - I cannot afford to waste money on ANY robot lmao.. ie. there will never be a robot in my home, but if there was a chance at some point that I could afford one, an Elon robot would never ever happen. Although I do enjoy his car lmao.

yrrkoon 2026-02-21 17:33

I wonder if this "sale" is in any way connected to the reports that they have lots of CT's sitting in lots that they've built that just aren't moving. To the point that they're even shipping them to Dubai.

LeVoyantU 2026-02-21 17:37

Pretty lame for an EV owner to hope some EV models fail. I hope all EV models that are at least decent products succeed. The $60k cybertruck is objectively excellent from a usefulness and features standpoint.

LeVoyantU 2026-02-21 17:42

Show me any full size truck that is feature competitive with the $60k cybertruck at its price point. - Rear steer - 240v/120v outlets - Power share home back up - Automatic tonneau cover - Frunk - 0-60 4.2 seconds It's a great value. No other new full size truck can do all this at this price point.

seenhear 2026-02-21 20:37

I do. I love to drive. I've driven hard in a performance m3 too. I prefer my car. I have a rwd S not AWD, which helps a little. Also, it's a large car not a sports car. For a car it's size it handles amazingly well. Recall the plaid set records at nurburgring during development, not the 3. It's big, yes, but also is extremely well balanced and very powerful and has great handling for its size. If you know how to drive well you can easily take over smaller sports cars in twisty mountain roads. The only thing I miss is having gears to run through and manage my power and energy with the clutch and rpms. Regen is nice, but I miss shifting and feeling that connection with the car. But the 3 would be no better in this aspect. ETA also laugh if you want, but this is MY experience with my car. I've had very high reliability with it. The motor was replaced under warranty at about 70kmi, IIRC, but never exhibited any symptoms. It simply sent an error to the screen which triggered a preemptive replacement. In less than a week I had a new motor.

BootFlop 2026-02-21 21:18

Why do you suppose sales have been circling the bowl for years? Iirc they didn’t even crack 500 units/month average in the US last year. You can have your opinion & personal experience, but it’s simply way out of whack with the rest of the world

jjj44200 2026-02-21 21:34

Bruh people want it they just can’t afford it lol ( me ) 😩

PraiseTheFlaw 2026-02-21 22:24

Same, I want one lowkey

bustex1 2026-02-22 00:13

Okay so the argument is if ford can’t do it others can’t but it doesn’t matter if others do because tesla won’t be good at it. Okay?

epluribusunom36 2026-02-22 00:16

Lightning been doing it. But I get what you're saying.

SympathyZestyclose13 2026-02-23 02:54

Wish they’d make a 50k Rivian R1T style truck
