Cyber beast

Lalo_Salamanca666 | 2026-02-18 18:22 | 214 views

I had to take my M3P in to get the climate control system repaired and they gave me this bad boy as a loaner. Honestly way more functional than I expected. Way nicer than my 2024 150 lariat.

I heard that thing maneuvers way better then people expect. Have yet to drive one so can’t confirm

lovemyhawks 2026-02-18 18:37

Like driving a cloud

McStimlock 2026-02-18 18:38

It does and the suspension is way better than S/X. You should try steer by wire on the CT too.

Durtyjoey 2026-02-18 18:56

I have a MY Juniper and believe that has the steer by wire as well. Absolutely love this vehicle but would like something bigger. And looks like it’s gonna be a CT after hearing the news about MX being discontinued

McStimlock 2026-02-18 18:57

MY Does not have steer by wire unfortunately

Durtyjoey 2026-02-18 18:58

Oh darn I thought it did. Still the wheel on the juniper is still much better and smoother than my previous vehicle

Normal_Court_1685 2026-02-18 19:00

Wrap it, wrap it !

D1TAC 2026-02-18 19:03

I found it very smooth when driving and turning. Very comfortable. Usually people have strong opinions on the looks rather then be behind the wheel.

Lalo_Salamanca666 2026-02-18 19:13

Yes very tight radius with the FWS. The only thing I would criticize is the dash is about three feet deep. Definitely need a telescopic pole to clean the front windshield inside.

gxpls3 2026-02-18 19:17

I hate how much fun these are to drive. They look ridiculous but that four wheel steering is amazing.

LizardsoftheGhost 2026-02-18 19:24

It’s an amazing vehicle despite what internet noise would have you believe

mhatrick 2026-02-18 19:32

I just wish they would done a more traditional truck. From what I’ve read, this body style creates more problems than it solves. They went form over function, as much as Tesla wants to say they did the opposite. I still would consider one of these if they get into the mid 30s in a few years, but it’s a shame, Tesla could have sold a ton of trucks if they went for something more traditional

dubie4x8 2026-02-18 19:52

it has brake-by-wire

VeeYarr 2026-02-18 19:55

Exactly, my wife hates the look of it and would never let us buy one, she would have been fine with a regular looking truck. They lost so many sales to stroke Elon's ego.

Standard_Till_2451 2026-02-18 19:59

A lot of people bash this truck due to its looks and Elon’s politics before even getting to drive one. This is the best car I’ve ever had and hopefully it lasts me > 15 years because I purchased FSD with it.

Squish_Cat_1 2026-02-18 20:19

You believe wrong. It does not.

vortec350 2026-02-18 20:22

I've had the opportunity to drive a couple Cybertrucks (although I can't afford one) and the steer by wire is truly amazing. I really hope eventually the 3/Y have this option.

AccomplishedLocal516 2026-02-18 20:24

I want one so bad. But convincing my wife is impossible. When I had my Juniper in for service they got wind I was looking at a CT. They hooked me up with a loaner three times. The only negative is the cabin noise. So much louder than my Juniper. Hard to look at other vehicles. I wish they solidified the CT interior noise like the refresh Y. That would be an instant sell.

Tradetheday2093 2026-02-18 20:27

I use the CT as my family and work vehicle. It is amazing. And I use it fully to renovate my houses. What you read is wrong from non-owners. The ugly look perspective was a matter of the politics and Elon. Initially many people reserved it. There was a lot less chatter about how it looked. So if we compare the time line, it was more about pricing and following crowd hate. Crowd is not always right 😂

imacleopard 2026-02-18 20:29

God that thing is so ugly. I want one

AdCareless1761 2026-02-18 20:33

steer by wire and 4 wheel steering makes it more enjoyable to drive than my MY

Tradetheday2093 2026-02-18 20:37

lol that would be a funny prank for a YT’ber to do. Wrap it in something ridiculous then return to service center.

Proper-Bee-4180 2026-02-18 20:41

Junk

Canuckle777 2026-02-18 20:48

And mechanical braking as well!

mhatrick 2026-02-18 20:57

I mean the criticisms I’ve read seem valid. Can’t access things in the bed from the outside due to the shape. Stainless steel is incredibly hard to keep clean. Frunk is tiny compared to other EV trucks. Lots of reliability issues due to the design.

mhatrick 2026-02-18 20:57

Making a regular truck? I have not heard that rumor

Tradetheday2093 2026-02-18 20:58

Gotcha. I can’t access my Tundra bed either cause it’s also high. Storage is amazing because my expensive tools are protected from theft. Stainless steel won’t be perfect like paint but way more durable. What reliability issues?

Ornery_Climate1056 2026-02-18 21:07

I had finished washing my MYJ at the car wash and saw a guy washing his CT. I asked him how he liked it and he listed the many ways he absolutely loves it! He said that all the haters need to SierraTangoFoxtrotUniform and park their butts in one and take it for a drive!!

mhatrick 2026-02-18 21:13

It’s a first generation very unique car, as far as I’ve read most owners have been in the service center quite a few times. Look im not hating on it, like I said, I would consider getting one if used ones get to the mid 30k range in a few years. But as far as I can tell, the only benefit to the shape of it is that it gives you more covered space with the tonneau cover. Everything else about the shape is generally worse than a traditional truck

Puzzleheaded-Race671 2026-02-18 21:14

I would totally get one if it was smaller. Just too big to fit in my garage

Serious-Education-51 2026-02-18 21:17

CyberBin ![gif](giphy|bSVIJabwCXM7U9uYBB)

TeslaCrna 2026-02-18 21:29

In your hypothetical scenario, all 4 doors have been crushed and you can’t get out? Wouldn’t that apply to any car?

Tradetheday2093 2026-02-18 21:54

Even beasts deserve some love.

TTP222 2026-02-18 21:55

What’s your wife’s issue with it?

Tradetheday2093 2026-02-18 21:56

Yes, It’s too risky to go out. It’s a death trap with all these humans doing stupid things. You won’t be able to get away.

ObeseSnake 2026-02-18 21:56

18 feet long. I'm sure you measured already but just so others know. It's not that bad.

ObeseSnake 2026-02-18 21:57

A stainless steel tank floating on a cloud.

TTP222 2026-02-18 21:57

Giving the Cybertruck out to Tesla owners as a loaner is a genius marketing idea. Feels like so many people have no idea just how amazing it is and this gives them the chance to experience it and possibly become a future buyer.

Tradetheday2093 2026-02-18 22:17

I agree, if the used market gets it to a good price, it’s worth it for the casual user. I wonder and hope on how the battery will hold up after 8 year warranty

AccomplishedLocal516 2026-02-18 22:31

Style and utility. We have no need for such a large truck. Also fits in the garage within an inch. My fear is the extra tire expense.

SF_E60M5 2026-02-18 22:50

I think most people can’t get past the look. Before hating on it. I said the same thing about i3’s before driving one and ended up buying one. Yes they are not the greatest looking EV but man that little toaster is fun to drive around town and parking lots. Owned it for 5 years before needing something with longer range. Ended up buying a new 23 M3 and now I’m on 26 MY. Personally wouldn’t mind owning a CT but it’s way priced over my budget. If they were priced around MY we might have bought one. To me it looks like a fridge 😂😂 but most people I’ve talked to that have drive says the drivability is amazing.

gymbr02 2026-02-18 23:23

I can confirm this.

777_heavy 2026-02-18 23:30

It’s nice to have one interesting looking vehicle on the market. Everything else on the road is the same.

Normal_Court_1685 2026-02-19 01:14

exactly. Wrap it in Mary Kay pink and then claim it was like that when you got it, I guarantee they would keep lending it out with the pink wrap

legit-advice 2026-02-19 01:42

cbdevor 2026-02-19 02:17

I have a foundation series Cybertruck. I haven’t had any problems with it. I have not ever taken it in to get serviced for anything.

Empty_Buffalo_2820 2026-02-19 02:20

My neighbor said if he could do test drives with random people in his cybertruck every day, he would convince half my cities population to get a cybertruck.

spcynudls99 2026-02-19 02:28

I was on the waitlist from the first couple of days. Then they came about and the price was crazy, the range wasn’t amazing, they fell short on fsD capabilities that were promised and the first couple of years had a lot of issues to iron out. I have test driven them a couple of times lately and honestly if the price was 65-70 I’d already be driving it. We have a 3 and a Y now. My wife got the refreshed 3 and after about 30 months of trying it out, I sold my ICE grand Cherokee and got a Y. I probably won’t go back to ICE

megacewl 2026-02-19 02:39

u only get one life bro...

gagorp 2026-02-19 02:48

I got a cyber beast as a service loaner. That was very cruel of Tesla. Now both my wife and I want one. I’m making her wait till AI5 is released though…

Zealousideal_Aside96 2026-02-19 03:03

CT is probably next to get axed

Zealousideal_Aside96 2026-02-19 03:08

> The ugly look perspective was a matter of the politics and Elon. Initially many people reserved it. There was a lot less chatter about how it looked. It’s not the same proportions as the model they showed off in 2019. It’s noticeably thicker, frumpier, and not as high as the unveiling showed off. I was an initial reservation holder and the final production version disappointed me in looks and the specs for the price. > Crowd is not always right I’d say it is because it’s selling like bullocks

Zealousideal_Aside96 2026-02-19 03:10

It was probably due to them having such a glut of them sitting on lots

kramsey165 2026-02-19 03:16

How does the range *feel*? I use exclusively percentage, so any giving distance is x% of battery to me.. looking to get one but trying to see if it has significantly more range than my MYP. On paper it does… but

El-DiablitoRojo 2026-02-19 04:07

Most of the people that criticize the CT don’t have one and will never even have an EV. The CT is truly a marvel. 95% of people that have a “real” truck, just use it as a means of transportation, they don’t really do “truck” things with them.

mysterious762 2026-02-19 05:23

You can feel the rear wheels steering when you go through intersection. It’s like sitting in the office chair and and turning a someone turns the chair a little bit.

Balancedone_1 2026-02-19 05:30

“1st gen very unique car” pretty much sums up the CT.

Solstice_25 2026-02-19 05:50

Love it! I’m seriously considering trading in my X for one. Still on the fence.

drivingaddictionchan 2026-02-19 06:53

dude it literally looks like a metal cockroach, has nothing to do with politics. I think the front looks good, but the rest of it looks like trash.

Tradetheday2093 2026-02-19 06:54

Yes beautiful huh? There’s more to it than just to show off or look good. I don’t waste money on cars. My 15mpg tundra vs 350watts/mi CT driving 20k miles or more per year. But hey you know best.

drivingaddictionchan 2026-02-19 06:56

I'm specifically addressing your comment regarding the looks, I don't care about the rest.

Tradetheday2093 2026-02-19 06:58

Looks is subjective. You should know that. Ask your wife. lol jk I understand it’s a unique look

drivingaddictionchan 2026-02-19 06:59

You said it was a matter of politics, it's not. The car was designed to be outlandish.

SpicyElixer 2026-02-19 11:05

Interesting but ugly af.

WLHDP 2026-02-19 12:27

Meeh

PermanentUsername101 2026-02-19 12:42

It may get axed at some point but not before a smaller cheaper truck is available. Look at the evolution of Tesla. Model S basically replaced with a smaller cheaper better selling sedan. Model X replaced with a better selling cheaper SUV. CyberTruck will get replaced with a smaller cheaper version before they pull it because there is a need. After the 3 and Y came out the S and X numbers were very paltry for Tesla yet they still produced them for years before cancelling them from the lineup. CT numbers are not that bad for the price range when comparing to a lot of other 80-100k vehicles.

PermanentUsername101 2026-02-19 12:46

Why would there be concerns about the CT battery over any of the other cars that Tesla has produced like the model S’s that are still driving around on 13 year old batteries?

PermanentUsername101 2026-02-19 12:50

When I take my CT in for service they usually give me an S or an X which is fun for like a day and then I start to miss my CT.

Zealousideal_Aside96 2026-02-19 13:30

Only way I see it if the smaller cheaper version also looks completely different. It won’t sell any more if it’s the same rough design.

ketoLifestyleRecipes 2026-02-19 13:30

I’m still answering questions when I park my FS beast. What is it? Is it electric? Is it a truck? Do you like it? I’m always happy to demo leaving them in awe. Especially when I tell them it’s my cottage generator and the FSD. I’ve owned a lot of vehicles. Hobby sports cars and I drove my business pick up for 35 years. Nothing has even come close to this driving experience for me. I came from the MS. Anyone that calls it a crappy vehicle hasn’t driven it. I can see why some people think it’s ugly. I still think of it as a whacky concept vehicle that came to fruition. I can load the vault like nobody’s business and use it like a truck. Also, it’s amazing how many people like to take a peek inside from my sentry review. Kids love it too and ask if they can take pictures. I think the naysayers are secretly jealous.

DotHorror856 2026-02-19 13:35

I had one for a loaner and was not expecting that thing to drive as well as it did. Can’t lie I enjoyed the driving part

Tradetheday2093 2026-02-19 14:44

No different. I just wonder how it will hold up. Since I would like to pass it on to my daughter as her first car in 13 years. Lol that would be cool

mhatrick 2026-02-19 15:55

What does your insurance cost? I’d have to think it would be quite expensive

fskhalsa 2026-02-19 16:17

Rain-X makes this thing, that I got for my MY, and it’s AMAZING. Got it originally for the outer windshield - but it’s literally a lifesaver for actually getting that narrow, cramped bottom part of the inner windshield clean - and it makes cleaning the inside of the glass roof a breeze! Edit: Sorry, was Invisible Glass. This thing! https://www.walmart.com/ip/52621454?sid=cdb051a4-d2e7-4faf-a8ce-e29e9c4eaa5e Also - if you haven’t tried the Invisible Glass cleaning spray, the stuff’s amazing. Like Windex on steroids 😁. I keep a bottle of the aerosol version tucked in my frunk with that tool, for quick cleaning, and a bottle of the regular spray with my car wash detailing kit, for everything else (cheaper and goes further than the aerosol, so better when you’re already doing the entire car - with ALL that glass). 😬

PermanentUsername101 2026-02-19 17:27

Worse case scenario is a battery swap and I feel like it’s only going to get cheaper with 3rd party options being available.

Lalo_Salamanca666 2026-02-19 17:41

Exactly

Lalo_Salamanca666 2026-02-19 17:43

For once I hoped the repair would talk longer but I only had it overnight. But I went to the supercharger twice i put some miles on it. ![gif](giphy|axu6dFuca4HKM)

DryParamedic785 2026-02-19 17:54

Technology is great, but the car is ugly IMHO 😉

Dirty_magnum 2026-02-19 17:55

I got a loaner one. It’s so boxy and unwieldy that it negates the decent handling in my opinion.

Delicious-Thanks5473 2026-02-19 18:27

I love the design. Once you understand the tech under the hood, it’s a pure “form follows function” statement, and the crowd always hates the great designs at first.

Randomname1470 2026-02-19 18:40

It's a very nice truck to drive but way too big for my needs. I had one as a loaner for a weekend.

No-Ambassador-5920 2026-02-19 18:46

Only for regen IIRC

Durtyjoey 2026-02-19 19:34

Really!?? Everyone here has said opposite so far. Guess I need test drive one some day

AltruisticPapaya1415 2026-02-19 19:35

That would be so cool if they made one Tacoma or Colorado sized.

AmbitiousFunction911 2026-02-19 20:08

It drives really well. But “functional” is questionable. It’s annoying to not be able to reach into the front of the bed from the side due to the high angles side walls. The tailgate is awkward too.

No-Statistician7002 2026-02-19 22:01

It does drive very well, but it's much too heavy for what it is. I'll bet that drives up the energy cost of driving it. Plus, it looks like a bad 80's movie on wheels. The interior though, and that four-wheel, progressive steering? Very nice. I hate it, but secretly like it. But I hate it.

seenhear 2026-02-20 01:35

I really wanted to want one. After the og reveal, I was impressed, and thought I would buy one when they came out, IF they met the specs and price they claimed they would. Obviously once they came out, Tesla was WAY short of the specs they claimed, and WAY over the price range they promised. Primarily they fell short on range. But also on the whole body-frame concept and the claim it would scale in such a way to reduce costs. Then the price, holy cow not even close. And the more I get up close to them, the more I'm honestly afraid to ever bump into one while walking or on my bike -- there are so many sharp edges and corners that look like they would just tear my skin right open. I never liked the looks much, but didn't totally hate it either. I figured if they hit their targets, it'll be an amazing deal, combined with Tesla tech, a no-brainer. But they didn't and I still don't love the looks, and it's too expensive for not what I wanted. Instead we got a '24 Silverado EV which looks way more traditional, and has 460+ miles of freeway road tripping range, and cost under $70k. No FSD, no steer by wire, just super basic EV, which we actually kinda like. I still am very CT-curious, and would love to get one as a loaner some day. But very happy with the truck we ended up with, for the price. And I'm still enjoying my '17 S75 with hw3 FSD as my daily driver around town.

trucker_dan 2026-02-20 01:59

I pay $700 every 6 months on my 2024 cyberbeast with full coverage through State Farm.

Tradetheday2093 2026-02-20 02:04

You lucky! Im surprised State Farm is so cheap. but mine isn’t too bad at $1200/6months.

Ok_Cake1283 2026-02-20 04:51

Mondern art. It's beautiful.

NegotiationPrudent80 2026-02-20 06:43

What went wrong with your M3P climate control? In or out of warranty?

RetroGaming4 2026-02-20 15:59

CT is super practical and functional. Frankly, best truck on the road. The very loud whining noise of the front motor for the cyber beast was a deal breaker for me and opted for the AWD. Very happy with my decision.

armarcu 2026-02-20 16:31

I was going to put my order in on the Cyber beast December of 2023 and when I tried putting in my parameters on the tri-motor it came back at 11,000 lbs. and that's the dual motor and I called the factory in Texas and they said they made the frame of the truck a lot weaker then originally designed and the max towing is only 11,000 lbs. instead of 14,000 lbs. so I kept my 2019 Tundra that 15,200 lbs. and my RV ways 13,000 lbs.

[deleted] 2026-02-20 21:16

lol @ your wife not “allowing” you to buy a vehicle.

VeeYarr 2026-02-20 21:32

Any big purchase needs joint approval, it's just being a respectful partner - are you not married or do you just treat your wife badly?

[deleted] 2026-02-20 22:52

I just have a wife that doesn’t give two fucks what I drive. It’s a respect thing.

VeeYarr 2026-02-20 22:54

Respect? Respect is asking your partner's opinion on a large purchase. What do you do if your wife doesn't respect you? Give her a beating?

[deleted] 2026-02-20 22:57

Just say you can’t afford the cybertruck and get it over with. Make sure to ask your wife permission before saying it though.

VeeYarr 2026-02-20 22:59

[deleted] 2026-02-20 23:04
