Automation App

LucosPoulos | 2026-02-18 07:31 | 53 views

The new Automation Feature is now live in China, and it will probably come to other regions. We can find a list of the triggers and actions here : [https://www.notateslaapp.com/news/3589/teslas-new-automations-feature-in-action-video](https://www.notateslaapp.com/news/3589/teslas-new-automations-feature-in-action-video) I got the update myself, and I'm sure there are a lot of cool stuff we can do with it, but I don't have many ideas, so I'm curious what other people will think of. For now I just activated one of the examples automations : When I say "Children Mode", activate Door Child Lock and Window Lock, and I made another one to turn it off. These are the 3 other examples that came with the update, approximately translated : * When the outdoor temperature is between 18.0°C and 26.0°C or you say "natural air", open the front air conditioning, turn off the front air conditioning auto mode, and set the driver's temperature to lower; set the passenger temperature to lower, etc. * When I start driving or when I begin reversing, say: "Gear Switched" * When I say "stealth mode", turn off the headlight, turn off the ambient light, turn off the fog lights, turn off the dome light, turn off the foot ambient lighting

Idk what I’ll do with it either but I’m so excited for this

Im looking forward to this update. I live in a very hot and humid climate so my wish is that when I stop the car, it keeps just the interior fan on for 5mins. That way my cabin filter and condenser coils will be dried out, preventing mould in my HVAC system.

I’ve been using it in iOS 26 the shortcuts app automations for Tesla is a game changer if you haven’t used it seriously consider it. They have preset automations that are pretty good read to go. I just wish Apple will make iOS the first hands free agentic device as the integration of Siri/apple intelligence would allow it. Give us a chance to use @grok to give instructions according to our schedule for the day. Just talk to your iPhone I.e. Grok precondition the car in 10 mins, set navigation to the closest charger and add all other destinations according to my calendar event locations. Please reply back to confirm you’ve done it. I am currently tinkering with shortcuts to see if something nearly like that would manifest. We are too far into the use of A.i. to not have our first agentic smartphone from the big three Apple, Samsung, Mi / Huawei. Some might argue that the rabbit R1 have already done it personally I don’t think so there’s too many pitfalls and rigidity to it. Apple would be perfect since the wallet app is built in and works wonderfully for payments. Just my thoughts.

I would love them to let me say when indicating, flash my M3 interior rgb light on that side and stuff like that

One thing I could use is when it's dark out have the headlights turn on when the phone key is detected. I don't know why tesla never thought to have this feature. It is damn near impossible to find the door handle when it's pitch black out andyou literally can't see your car. Of course this doesn't happen that much, but when it does it's annoying AF. Gotta fish your phone out of your pocket, turn on the flash light, etc etc.

I would like to set it so that grok comes up with a new complement for my wife when she drives my car. (Tie it to her key)

short_bus_genius 2026-02-18 12:13

Honest question, it doesn’t do this already?

short_bus_genius 2026-02-18 12:15

This is one of those features, where I love the idea of it…. But I’m not creative enough to think of a good use for it

I want to be able to skip the next instance of scheduled charging/ preconditioning without toggling the schedule

Sfkn123 2026-02-18 17:05

It does, I know my 2022 used to do that, and it's still a thing with my 2026.

I like the natural air and child mode. If possible I'll add "turn Netflix on the back seat screen' to the child mode. Another automation for me would be single driver mode, where everything goes to exactly I want including turning on my podcast vs family mode where the music and other settings change to accommodate everyone.

Cool! Is that a setting I need to turn on because I’m pretty sure mine doesn’t do that - 2023 M3 LR Plus I pulled my filters out of the car recently after a 40min drive and they were wetter than a horny fish.

Open the Tesla app on your phone, hold down when the icons across the top to customize your controls and add open door. This will unlatch the door so you can open it without trying to find the handle.

I am so dumb sometimes lol. This is a perfect solution, thank you!

It's annoying to need to use exact wording and getting it wrong also produces a level of dissatisfaction I find problematic. I'm waiting for native language Grok interpretation. By the way, this is very close.
