Day made

mvcap | 2026-02-18 04:28 | 256 views

Took my M3 in for service and was told I'd have a loaner. I asked very politely if there was a Cybertruck available and my rep said you bet. Served me up a CyberBeast and I spent the rest of the day trying to find errands to run. My kids of course thought it is the coolest thing (because it is) - I'm smitten! Fun fact: this is my first time dealing with Teala service and the process has been a breeze. Now...what other service might I be needing soon...? 🤔 Anyone else have fun stories of Plaids or Performance or 'Beast loaners?

Nice. On my first service experience in late 2025 on a brand new Y, I had to wait weeks for the service appointment. Was supposedly assigned a loaner. I receive a message on my way to drop off the car that a loaner is not available. To add further insult, I get a loaner assigned the same afternoon the car is ready for pick up. Even worse, all work was seemingly done in a single day. I didn’t really need to leave it there for days…

mvcap 2026-02-18 04:38

Hmm, not a great or streamlined experience, obv. Hope you're enjoying your new Y!

Potential_Egg_6676 2026-02-18 04:52

All that space on the dash look super odd

sleepingturtles 2026-02-18 04:52

Got a model S plaid as a loaner yesterday!! It was awesome! 👏

gxpls3 2026-02-18 04:58

I recently had a Cyberbeast as a loaner. I originally expected to have it just for the weekend, but it ended up being 16 consecutive days. It was polarizing. Looks aside, I genuinely enjoyed driving it. The fully electric four-wheel steering took some getting used to, and when I got back into my Tesla Model S Plaid, I initially thought something was wrong with my car. Those 16 days really calibrated my brain to the Cybertruck’s steering. It took about two days to readjust to a normal steering ratio. I used it for everyday errands—trips to stores like Lowe's and IKEA—and made good use of the truck bed. It was genuinely practical. Aside from the steering, the ambient lighting was probably my favorite feature at night. It creates a great atmosphere, as the kids say "a vibe".

Various_Sandwich_507 2026-02-18 04:59

I absolutely love it. FSD is such amazing technology. Feels less like a car you drive and more like a personal transport pod that drives you around.

kfriesen 2026-02-18 05:22

I hate cybertrucks. I think they’re stupid and ugly and I hate even parking beside them at chargers. I got a beast as a loaner when my Y was in for service. It was my favourite vehicle I’ve ever driven. Like by a long shot, and I’ve driven some nice vehicles(exotics, luxury, multiple new domestic light and HD trucks) I wanted to hate it, but I couldn’t. It’s the perfect vehicle, except that it’s fucking ugly. Like every time I drove it I felt the shame like the time I called my teacher Mom in second grade. If it was in a normal truck body, I would own two of them.

Hollowbound 2026-02-18 05:24

Bro there is enough space on that dash for a hammock

[deleted] 2026-02-18 05:47

Man they took my newish M3P for some paint and gave me a dented 4 year old Model Y that sounded like a wind tunnel.

[deleted] 2026-02-18 05:49

Now that you point that out it does. I have an M3P so I’m used to the space but it just looks wrong here. Surprised there’s no dashboard screen especially in a CB.

[deleted] 2026-02-18 05:50

I hate you guys 😅😇

mvcap 2026-02-18 05:59

Yes, this! My dad hates them and of course he's the first person I had to get out for a spin. He couldn't stop laughing at launch mode and just the torque at any point really. He said it's still ugly but man is it cool. 🤣 Also, the second grade comment got an abrupt out-loud laugh outta me - good stuff!

mvcap 2026-02-18 06:01

Lots of speakers up front I think. I would need a 10ft extension to vacuum the front part of the dash tho

mvcap 2026-02-18 06:04

Yes it's huge and so heavy and the four-wheel steering works brilliantly, can really turn on a dime esp for it's size. I'm thinking which of our multiple vehicles it can single-handedly replace, as you said it's just so practical. The back seat fold-up feature blew me away - MORE STORAGE!

mailwasnotforwarded 2026-02-18 06:11

Never driven one but those frame supports on the sides that impair your vision would irritate me.

Salt-Airline9709 2026-02-18 06:28

What service did you get on the m3? I got a notification recently to get my cameras cleaned and I’ve been thinking about “asking politely” for CT😅

Power-sink123 2026-02-18 06:29

I didn’t give any loner car instead I got $100 uber voucher per day… the service was more days than expected and they almost drained my car battery… I had to beg them to charge it so I can drive to a super charger nearby after picking up.

Impressive-Ask4169 2026-02-18 06:32

Right? I also got mine late 2025 and this is the longest I’ve had that “new car excitement” that tends to fade away pretty quickly.

GettinBreesh 2026-02-18 06:36

😂 that’s wild

gxpls3 2026-02-18 06:42

My kids loved it and started doing that puppy eyes routine to get one. I got the stink eye from a few people at stop lights but only one middle finger in those 16 days. 😂

Power-sink123 2026-02-18 06:49

I got 3 instances of kinda wild Tesla service/pickup experience lol First was pick up, when I got my model S plaid in 2022. Tesla let people touching and sitting in it right before the pickup of a sold car. I got makeup all over the steering wheel and dirty floor before I even lay hands on my brand new car lmao Second was a flat tire. Car was 3 ish months old, tesla got me a towel truck and the driver scratched the bottom of my car for a good 15 minutes trying to position it right on the bed. I mean I like my car but I really would try to avoid their service centers when I can lol

Karlitos00 2026-02-18 06:53

At least you got Uber credits. I didn't even get that and had to get my wife to pick me up and drive me around for two days

lavoid12 2026-02-18 06:57

Picked mine up about two weeks ago, and it’s the best car I have driven yet. I actually like the way it looks. Granted, beauty is in the eye of the observer. I have gotten odd looks from people on the road, and that’s okay. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. So long as someone’s hate does not turn actionable and result in physical harm to me or my property, it’s all good.

lavoid12 2026-02-18 06:59

It is. Crazy amount of unused space outwardly. I’m sure there’s a lot under the hood.

Itsnotadrone 2026-02-18 07:18

Glad you got to try it out they are so fun. When my awd ct was in shop I got a loaner beast and you can tell a difference in power lol

Tradetheday2093 2026-02-18 07:33

I don’t need to see when I have FSD.

SnooWoofers7345 2026-02-18 07:58

Man it sounds like such fun. I dont think its ugly even. Hope they revamp it into something people like. Maybe in a few years.

shhithapens 2026-02-18 09:24

My favorite ever loaner was a model S plaid. I own a Y, but damnit if I'm now dreaming of owning a model S. I couldn't wrap my head around the speed, even as a 3+ year Tesla owner. It's magnificent.

shhithapens 2026-02-18 09:29

I love the look of the cybertruck. It's super polarizing, I know. But I think it's the most "different" thing on the road. Every car/truck/suv/hatchback is the same shape. I want "different", I want "retro futura", I want cars that only exist in movies about the future: Robocop, Judge Dredd, I, Robot, etc. That's the cybertruck for me.

McFarbles 2026-02-18 10:56

My model S is currently in the shop and its about an hour and 15 minutes from the house. Had to drop it off at 8:15 am so I went right there from work (i work nights). I had asked about a loaner the day before and they told me they didn't have any so I was SOL. So my wife wakes up early and drives almost an hour and a half up there to meet me to take me home, I am talking to the guy at the desk and he gives me a model X and I call my wife who's about 5 minutes away still half asleep and tell her she can just turn around and go back home 🤣 she was pissed it was pretty damn funny. Felt bad on that one. On a side note related to OP I now love the model X and want to trade my S plaid in for one lol

-eccentric- 2026-02-18 11:02

Going 60 without any assist enabled, hogging the left lane for no reason, and taking a photo while doing so. I hope you don't drive that carelessly with your family in the car.

akpana65 2026-02-18 11:04

Nice narrative…

YOUNGSAGEHERMZ 2026-02-18 11:33

Man I took my new MYP in for service and they told me there was no loaner and then 2 days later they finally found me a loaner and it was a 2022 M3. Sucked so bad. Was really looking forward to trying out a MS or a CT.

Kaiathebluenose 2026-02-18 12:16

this was my experience too. I dont think it was my favorite vehicle ive ever driven but I did really like it.

niagara100 2026-02-18 12:48

Took my 25 m3 in for service and I got a 22 m3 with 50k miles no windshield washer fluid or winter tires(it was January in Chicagoland and currently snowing). I’ve been wanting to test drive one of those. How was it?

RobertDCBrown 2026-02-18 12:52

I just rented one on Turo in Orlando for 4 days. Besides the awful smell of cigarettes, it was a blast to drive. Maneuvering in parking lots was amazing with the 4 wheel steering.

D1TAC 2026-02-18 13:36

Yep I had a CT for a few hours while my Y was getting some QC issues solved. And I really enjoyed it. The looks you get in it is hilarious each time. Drives very well surprisingly. I'd buy one but they're just way to expensive for what they are.

Roger22nrx 2026-02-18 14:03

They gave me a p100d one time a few years back. That whole weekend I showed my neighbors how fast a Tesla really is. One guy had to go to the DR the next week for basically whiplash.

ordinaryflask 2026-02-18 14:52

Same experience. Now I just elect to “wait” and they miraculously finish the work same day.

Long_Performance_636 2026-02-18 17:08

I got a Model S Plaid when I had my M3 serviced and that was a blast

CarbonKLR 2026-02-18 17:58

It's unfortunate that their flagship model is now just a demo/loaner, instead of just reducing the prices of the 2024s to sell to consumers

Mkowalczyk91 2026-02-18 18:09

I had the same situation in the Raleigh NC sc. had my car in maybe a dozen times for a leaking trunk. Went in for my last visit before moving out of state and they said they’d keep it longer if I was ok with it. Told em sure, and asked for a truck. Saw it added to my app, and noticed a cyber beast. Best 3 weeks I’ve had driving a car.

Tarmgar 2026-02-18 18:45

Not the service center, but I did a Demo and the Cyberbeast was available. That thing pinned you to the seat and there was nothing you could do about it until you let off the throttle lol. Crazy fun for 2 hours. FSD solidified my want for at least a model 3. Impressed me beyond words. Blew my mind that it knew we were going to a parking lot miles away and it found a parking spot and parked with ZERO input.

Minimum_Contributor 2026-02-18 19:08

Same. Everyone who hates em, still had a blast riding in it. The kids absolutely went bananas and every kid at school wanted to see it. Launch mode on beast is an absolute blast and I’m sure the reason the next time I went in for service they only gave me a 2022 Model Y that was falling apart. The only thing embarrassing a few times was it ms auto park. It whips in front of cars that were about go by in the lane and then make like 4-6 point turns.

xrfr8 2026-02-18 19:11

If Tesla made an SUV (think wagon) version of the Cybertruck, I would be all over it. I need the 6/7 seat configuration and the closed in cargo space. I’ve been so tempted to make the 5 seater work and hope the tonneau cover would be waterproof, or put a canopy cover on it, but I’ve seen too many horror stories of stuff in the bed being damaged by dust and water intrusion (not just through the tonneau cover), and for the price of a Cyberbeast I keep feeling compelled to stick with my MXP…

finland85 2026-02-18 19:11

I couldn't even get a loaner when my car needed service.

mvcap 2026-02-18 19:36

Ha! I had a neighbor take me years ago in his p100d and on Ludicrous mode he said "put your head on the headrest or you'll wish you had!" It'll definitely do it for you 🤣

mvcap 2026-02-18 19:38

It really is crazy. I was thinking ...someone invented this, they had this idea and now here it is and it's amazing!

New_Tangelo4550 2026-02-18 23:18

No one is buying they giving for loaner lol

Comprehensive_Fan140 2026-02-18 23:42

Holy blind spots batman

OhhMyGeek 2026-02-19 00:46

This is the first I've seen of the dash. Does it feel as long as it looks? I think I'd be a bit disoriented

korbel23 2026-02-19 00:50

Yep, had the exact same experience. It was a joy to drive. I think they do look quite a bit better with a monotone matte wrap though.

Crobster287 2026-02-19 02:16

The service center closest to me doesn’t sell vehicles but does demos. Every time Ive gone the same guy recognizes me and tells me what vehicles are available for demos while I wait. Pretty sure I’ve driven every model and trim they’ve made 😂.

kfriesen 2026-02-19 05:17

Nice use of ellipsis

kfriesen 2026-02-19 05:22

I did daycare pickup when I had it and the kids went crazy for it. I let them all in to mess around in it, it was a huge hit

Dry_Situation_3582 2026-02-19 11:42

I work in dentistry and called one of my dentists Dad the other day 🤣 I'm 47.

kfriesen 2026-02-19 14:50

Best of luck in your recovery

trippleknot 2026-02-19 14:55

Wow, it sounds like you are the one person on earth to ever have a good experience with Tesla service! Lucky you! You should buy a lottery ticket too

ender1877 2026-02-19 15:56

Same thing happened to me, have you tried launching it yet?

mvcap 2026-02-19 16:23

Yes many times so far. I've never begged for so many red stoplights before in my life! 🤣

ender1877 2026-02-19 18:07

I really liked the truck. If I could afford it I would get one. Friends and family all said it was ugly. I let a couple of them drive it and the loved it.

yajxeeblis 2026-02-19 18:34

Brought my plaid X in for service, got a loaner Plaid S for the weekend... Just about cried when I had to give it back. Now I can't stop thinking about the S.

hamphogfam 2026-02-19 22:19

The only loaner car I received was exactly the same as my car down to the color, wheels and software

gymbr02 2026-02-20 00:58

I have had probably 15 interactions with Tesla service ranging from fixing small things to towing my Cybertruck down a mountain. And every time they have been a pleasure to work with.... Enjoy the truck! I've had mine for over a year and it hasn't gotten old yet.

Malacasts 2026-02-20 06:44

My story is every time I go in I have to go to Hertz for a loaner. Even when they had my car for weeks. One time I got the same performance as mine though

ecksean1 2026-02-20 17:33

I have a m3 rwd. I had an issue and went into the service center. The rep tells me “I’ve only got one of the suvs left” walks me out with key in hand and I walk over to the back of it and it’s a model x plaid. I drove the piss out of that for the month they had my car. It was a beast.
