You offer this to him on a piece of paper written out, and if he agrees you take him.
If his name is on the lease, and you quit paying, he’s obligated.
This crosses so so so many lines imo I wouldn’t do it.

I get your concern but we run a business together and deal with each other 24/7. I know all his info, accounts etc.
We’re really close so me quitting on payments to leave him high and dry wouldn’t happen

Having his accounts and info and using them to get a lease in his name sounds fraudulent on the face of it.

You’re trying to do something really awesome, but putting a vehicle in his name without his knowledge is the wrong approach.
Here’s what I would do instead:
Rent a Cybertruck on Turo and give him the big surprise in his driveway.
When he asks what this is, tell him immediately that you are leasing him a Cybertruck and will make all the payments (and insurance payments?), but you want to put it in his name to build his credit.
In order to do this, you need his approval and cooperation, but you wanted to surprise him because you see how hard he works and he deserves it.
Then take the car for a spin and drive to the nearest showroom (or just back home) to finish the paperwork.
Is the surprise as epic as a brand new car that he can keep in his driveway? No, but it’s the next best thing. And you don’t run the risk of damaging your relationship if he absolutely does not want to go through with it.

Just plan a test drive on his birthday.
If he likes it, say he can get it and you'll pay the lease.
Don't ever "surprise" anyone with a huge financial liability and identity theft... If your business tanks somehow, he's going to be holding the bag.

Why not get it under the business name?

Your heart is in the right place but please don’t commit identity theft to surprise him

Business will be the main and he would be the co-applicant
I would have just put it in the the business alone but Tesla doesn’t allow business only leases

I may have to do this approach but we actually did the whole turo approach last year and that’s when I knew I wanted to get him it after he loved it

Just get it in your name and add him to the insurance that way you're obligated and not him and he still drives it like it's his with no obligation

Yes but I’m trying to have it under his name so he can build his credit
