Tesla Twinkle

Posted this on X earlier today, even tagged Tesla and Elon. Curious though, does anyone know if this is even possible with existing hardware?

Why would you even want that? Turn signals are for safety, not to give a light show... I get sequential turn signals, but... Fading out? Besides, regulations for turn signals are pretty clear in most countries

I agree, so my suggestion was to fade out, not fade in. Or for the sequential feature, it would be to sequence out, not sequence in. This way it preserves the signal coming on full brightness all at once, which adheres to laws state side. But the question was is this even possible with current hardware.

I'm not sure what you mean by sequential, then, since there is only one turn signal light per side, not several

The turn signal is made up of several LEDs. What I mean by sequential is that they all turn on at once (for regulatory reasons) but then they turn off sequentially from one end to the other, or fade out to black instead of instant off. The question would be, can the turn signal LEDs be controlled individually to achieve the sequential effect.

Mazda has turn signals that fade out

Actually, in regards to the turn signals... I think I have seen that the new Model Ys show turn signals with the ambient light up front when you turn it on. The 2024+ Model 3s have the ambient lighting, and I would love to see that feature added to it as well. Obviously to where you could enable/disable that feature if wanted!

Several LED in one cluster/fixture... There are sequential tail lights in the aftermarket if you really want that effect :)
