Supplied Granny charger

Hi all. Had my seal for 8 months and loving it. Recently moved from a unit that had no electricity in the parking so have been charging at public stations, now I’m in a house (and looking to get a charger installed). Thought I’m home all day will plug in the granny charger and trickle feed a bit but alas the charger plug is not Australian. Has anyone else had this. Not an issue as can still charge but was surprised.

Definitely Australian plug here. Go back to the dealer and complain - I’m sure they can swap it over.

This, I feel like the Factory simply places the wrong charger in the car and the dealer missed it in PD.

Yep my Australian delivered Seal had an Australian plug. Assuming you purchased from new, raise this with the dealer you purchased from.

If the dealer can't resolve it, Bunnings have chargers

Regardless of weather the BYD gives you an Australian granny charger or not, invest in a 7kw or 11kw charger, it's a long term investment that will pay off. I waited really long to do this myself, I wish I hadn't

Thanks am Getting some quotes on getting 7kw charger as seal is limited to 7kw on ac charging

you should never get an 11kw (16a 3ph) charger, as it would only charge a seal at 3.5kw(16a 1ph) consider getting a 22kw (32a 3ph) charger if you have 3ph at your house already.

Can definitely recommend getting a 7kW EV charger for the house. Either you can charge overnight on a cheap overnight tariff, or if you have solar, then you can charge for free during the day. I have a "smart" EV charger that works with the inverter to only use power that would have been sent to the grid to charge the car.

Are you so self centered that you think that what works for you must also work for everyone else on earth? Consider time as a ROI, you aren't wrong with regards to your needs (daily distance traveled and available time for granny charger to charge at home), but others needs maybe different than yours.

just fyi the supplied granny is only 8amps. you could just go to bunnings and spend 200$ to get a 10amp granny and have 40% faster changing speed. not to say you should get the correct 8amp one as well.

>only 8amps >10amp granny and have 40% faster Not quite. 25% faster. Absolutely still noticeable though.

Thanks all, I work within 200m of a BYD dealer so have sorted the granny out (they were still trying to work out how it happens). I have a 7kw dedicated smart charger on order as well
