Battery Costs

seulrene0903 | 2026-01-05 11:52 | 7 views

Hey seal owners. Just curious if anyone here has had to replace their battery for whatever reason/ knows anyone that had to do so. If so, how much did it cost ? I’m thinking about getting a seal but its low ground clearance (149mm) slightly concerns me given the battery sits right across the floor of the vehicle. Has anyone experienced scrapes from speed bumps/small rocks that has damaged the battery and resulted in repairs/ replacements or am i just over worryingV

The batteries are very strong they can survive serious car accidents you are not damaging it in the way you are talking about.

They're already available second hand from crash damaged vehicles. The batteries are well protected, so they nearly always survive an accident

Watch this video, it'll reduce your stress levels about the battery. https://youtu.be/n2J0BVxt-rg?si=94lNd98kudABWiPk It also has a decent protective cover underneath. That ground clearance figure isn't correct either, mine has been lowered and sits at 150mm at the lowest point under the battery.

The cars aren't old enough to place the battery out of warranty so no one has needed to buy one to replace a faulty unit. Additionally any crashed vehicles that require a new battery will most likely be a write off anyway with fairly severe damage to the rest of the car.

Over worrying. I live on a very rough and rutted dirt road, it’s stony with corrugation and my Seal Premium has no worries handling it. I can’t do the full 100kph on the dirt but I do run at about 80kph. I’m 55000k into this car and it’s great, no squeaky bits or rattles.

I have been on ev car forums for multiple brands for 5 years, never heard of a single damaged battery replacement, not under warranty in Australia. If battery charged below 50c, charged 20-80% majority of the time , usa tests showed it will do 800,000miles/1.2million km. It would take a ‘’write off’ accident to damage

This guy on Facebook was quoted $28,000 AUD to replace the battery https://preview.redd.it/xdvmpjwi2qbg1.png?width=864&format=png&auto=webp&s=eb13b2e11dae58b8f2c740dadfbd5e8083851e36

Wouldnt this be covered by insurance no? (Assuming you have comprehensive)

ProblemThinking 2026-01-06 12:59

Yep, his insurance wrote off the car and bought him a new one

ProblemThinking 2026-01-06 13:05

Thanks

If I'm not worried about my ground clearance with my lowering springs (25mm front/20mm back) you too shouldn't be ;-)

havafati 2026-01-06 17:58

No worries

How's your paint holding up against dirt road?

havafati 2026-01-07 04:50

Pretty good. It’s the stone chips from resealed bitumen that gets me. And to be fair I don’t wash it much, the road is too dusty.

What brand lowering springs did you go with?

Icefeldt 2026-01-09 14:00

Eibach - https://www.instagram.com/p/DAAm53atV0h/

Noticeable improvement with handling?

Icefeldt 2026-01-10 13:49

Can't say for sure, as I did not really drive long with the stock suspension. Only thing I can remember on the top of my head is, that I noticed less body roll.
