Can't speak for the Winruns but the stock Continentals on my 2024 were absolute garbage in the wet. Changed all 4 to Michelin Pilot Sport 5s, never looked back
That’s what I’m looking at picking up this week Was your experience somewhat like mine on the stocks?
My standard Contis on my ‘24 Seal Premium work well in the wet for me. I have to be deliberately provoking the car go get anywhere near losing control of it.
I have the AWD model and it lost traction in the wet while overtaking a truck one day. Straight road, not accelerating ridiculously or anything. It had happened a couple of times before in the wet but not as bad. After that happened I changed to the Michelins.
Hate to tell you this, but likely they wore out their Conti, and put these budget tyres on. Doubt they would even support the weight or power. Think its like 3x the price difference for the tyre. In some reviews they note poor grip in wet and instability, so sounds exactly your experience with them. I've had my Premium Seal for near on 2 years now and its only now I've noticed a little slippage in wet. Previously no issue, and think my tyres are due for replacement. I still have to plant boot to get it to slip tho. Only downside to EV is the weight and power that gets put out through the rear! For your own safety get proper tyres as its critical as you have found out! I'd have no issue getting same tyres again, will see pricing on comparable such as Michelin if budget allows
Yeah looking to get mich pilot 5 during the week I was just worried if by experience was so extreme that it indicated something more fundamental I think I’m landing on “maybe”
I had some Winruns on a car rental I had which I assume someone busted the tyres and they replaced them with that. They were pretty miserable. If it was just a run around to pick up groceries or paddock basher I might go for them but even then I don't think they are worth the money if you have the cashflow to go for something more premium. Especially on a sports car. My rear Conti's got to the indicators level around 25-30,000 km's. The fronts still had some life in them. I replaced them all with Michelin Pilot Sport EV. They have some accoustic foam on the inside or something that is meant to reduce tyre noise. Can't say I have noticed any difference with that, but I am at 57,000km now and there is still plenty of wear on the all tyres. The rears have still worn slightly more than the front which I expect is part and parcel of a RWD with Sports mode. They have been slightly better with grip than the Conti's in the wet. I think it just depends how you drive the vehicle. I liked both sets of tyres but I would pick the Michelin again next time.
Possibly good time with all the Black Friday sales. Saw that Tyroola have 4x Conti Seal Tyres for $1080, not fitted tho. Not sure of same discounts on Michelin
Ended my ordering Mich pilot 5s for 15% off black Friday - 1600 fitted plus a $150 cash voucher (so 1450) from Tyroola and a local fitter 😎
Nice! If you can let me know how they go for you. I guess you haven't had the Conti, but in general and should be .uch better than the Winruns. I had a Atto 3 loan car that had the non brand tyres and man those things were rubbish and scary. Car had way too much power for them, and its hardly the Seal!
Second this. I've never heard of winruns, but they sound cheap. Never had issues in the wet on stock contis. Change to something better asap.
