AC sucks compared to every other car I’ve owned, I always try to remember to turn it on by the app 10 mins before and then it’s fine.

Mine ain’t good either. I do have a weird noise that’s present when AC is on. This is on the front left, I’ll ask to get it looked at at my 5000km check.

Yeah this is what ive gotten in the habit of doing, just kinda crazy that a brand new car struggles with ac like this.

We were told it’s the heat pump and it’s normal. But it’s an extremely loud buzzing sound, but given up on BYD fixing anything at this point. POS car

Same with ours. Seemed to fine the first summer we had the car, but this second summer it’s struggling to cool and on Comfort not Eco. Yet another problem with the POS Seal Performance in our case. Worst car I’ve owned. BYD refuses to fix anything or take responsibility for issues with the car that are blatantly issues. And this excuse of “oh we need photos to send to corporate to approve xyz”. It’s nauseated and annoying beyond belief. We have already started at looking at a new 5 series to replace the pile of junk. Good luck with yours, hope they get their sh** together and fix the issue with it.

This is a common BYD issue.
Most owners stick their head in the sand though, due to being hyped for owning an EV.
The AC isn’t suited to hot climates :(

AC feels weak but they just said it cools fine and is pressured correctly. I need to get a thermometer for inside the car because it’s particularly bad during times when it is hot outside and they did the checks when it was 25 outside on a rainy day and of course it was fine.

Is it a passive (car parked) cooling or active you talk about?
When using the passive it works better with closed circuit instead of an open one and always use the minimum temperature.
In passive - for me to go down from 39 degrees in the car to 29 degrees it takes 10 minutes of cooling, but the outside temperature herein summertime is 25 Celsius :D
When the car is parked in a sunny place always remember before getting in (if cooling was forgotten) to keep the "open car button" on the knob for few seconds, it always helps to open all windows and get the really hot air out of the car.

Active, like get in the car and start driving, I have had to get into the habit of turning it on Max cool 15 mins before going anywhere.

Seems to be hit and miss.
Low gas volume was a common issue early on. I'd be pressing to have it regassed.
Personally, my 2024 is as cold as Toyota AC, I have to run it on 25 degrees as it gets too cold otherwise.
It works really well up until about 36+ degree days when the car is parked in the sun. I've only ever used the roof shades for about four days last summer.
Also, this technique works really well for any car, gives the AC a head start

my climate control has become rather frustrating recently. seems to not do what I want ever. can be 15 outside, climate set to 25 and its still trying to cool. have to switch it to Hi to get it to switch to heating.

My son had this issue, but when he took it to the service centre, they said that there was a software update that fixed it, and to my surprise it has been really good since!
