This is an issue across the board with EVs in Australia.
Not many 3rd party parts exist, and genuine parts supply from wrecked vehicles don't yet meet demand.
It's something that will likely only be resolved with time unfortunately.

Depending on the size of the part, it might be cheaper and faster to order from Aliexpress. Eg replacement lcd panel: $250 from Aliexpress including shipping for a factory original, $4300 from 'BYD' (Eagers) because they're pure scum.
Of course this doesn't help with panels or doors or the like

Fanatics/Zealots don’t like people talking about the downsides of owning emerging car brands (as relates to Australia).
Can only say glowing things!
Good luck OP.
Hopefully things improve, though the whole consumer market (not just cars) is broken - good service (and speed) is now not important to any company.

You said what’s on my mind. It’s crazy when a wrecker/ dismantler who gets cars from auction or wherever has better processing times and customer service than the brand.

Yes you’re right about that, but when an accident happens most of the time we need panels 👌🏻

The distributor changed from EVDirect to BYD in July this year. Have you noticed any improvement in availability since then?

There's a 20,000m2 BYD parts warehouse opening somewhere in the northern suburbs soon. Once that fills up hopefully parts turn around times should be quicker.
But in the meantime, AliExpress or Alibaba might be your best bet. You can get genuine parts and panels for particular models off there.

quite brave from you buying a new brand for rentals... that's what Camrys are for

hopefully things will improve with BYD taking over the distribution role.

The mass fragmentation of the Aus market is going to make for a basket case of parts availability.
How many Chinese brands by how many models and rather than a model for essentially 6 years (Think VR to VS commodore type span) they will iterate annually for a while as they race for market share.
So you will be looking for a part that was on 0.5% of the overall car market, for a 12 month period, three years ago before the brand wrapped up or got consolidated.
This for me is the attraction to the Xioami brand. They have the volume out there, somewhere, and seem to do parts as an element of the company culture.

I had panel work on mine done through Sheen and they turned it round really fast.

good to know. shame it took BYD china kicking out Eagers/EV direct for any change to happen. BYD really need to move away from the traditional dealership model too
