Service Experiences

Hi all, What's everyone's experience been with contacting BYD to have their Seal looked at for an issue? My wife's Seal started making a clunking noise while steering yesterday. All morning we have been trying to get in touch with our two most local BYD service centres but we haven't been able to speak to anyone directly. The best we have gotten so far is leaving voice mails and assurances from reception that an email has been sent and someone will be in touch. Is this a typical experience with BYD at the moment? Edit/Update: When I finally got in contact with a service centre the earliest they could look at it was 3+ weeks away. I took the advice of a commenter here and drove it down to the local service centre and while they didn't take it that day they booked it in for 2 days time. The issue was a loose bolt on the sway bar.

I haven’t tried, but their online chats always say to go to one of their service centres - without appointment. I guess you can try that?

Just physically turn up? That seems like an odd process but I'm getting to the stage now where that is my only option. Contacting the local service centres just results in a redirect to a national customer service hotline and all they do is send an email to the service centre and tell you to wait

I had a similar issue with my seal. It was a bolt in the sway bar that came loose. I would just rock up. I did that with mine. I just drove into the service centre at Seven Hills and told them to look at it. The first time they kept the car for a day or so until they had time to look at it and the second time they took it in immediately and fixed it straight away. I now go to Gosford BYD and they have much more availability and also answer their phone.

Thanks for the info and the heads up on the possible issue..I'll look into that myself over the weekend

Penrith BYD finally got back to me, their earliest available appointment is 24th November - unbelievable

The Artarmon rep told me about a month ago that it was a 2 month wait for services there so have to book well in advance

Crazy lead times

just go in there. it sounds like something is loose in the steering. you might break something or have an accident if you keep driving.

Their service is horrendously bad. We cannot wait for our novated lease to be up on the POS Seal Performance. Probably the worst car I’ve ever owned in 30 years and 45 odd cars. Absolute rubbish car and even worse customer service. Will NEVER buy a Chinese branded vehicle ever again. Ever.

Geeze sounds like you've had a pretty bad experience all round, that's no good at all. We're really happy with the car after 14 months of ownership but this service experience has been ordinary

Just thought I'd circle back here and say that the issue I was having was the same thing - sway bar had come loose.

Nice, an easy fix. Out of interest how many km was your car at? From memory mine was around 22,000km and then again at 35,000

Vast-Spinach-41 2025-11-07 18:53

Ours is at 26000km

Loose bolts in the steering....yeah nothing to worry about.

I thought you never had to service an EV...just ran for ever.

Yawn...boring - go be negative somewhere else
