Depends whether you give it a full push (indicator will stay until you turn or switch it off) or just a light push (will stay on for a couple of seconds only). I guess the latter is intended for lane changes, but I never Intentionally use it
Had mine for nearly two months, it still is hard to get used to. It turns off constantly due to the tiniest turn of the wheel.
I do a full push but at the slightest turn before my main turn it switches off again
Very very frustrating and a little dangerous
I also think that it's trying to be "smart" but not helping. When you indicate to turn and then move into a turning lane, it thinks you've merged, so it cancels the indicator. I end up "half " indicating (like when you merge) and then, when I'm over, put the indicator on full. I'd rather it worked like more traditional cars, but I'm hoping I get used to it.
Agreed
I'm in the same boat. Sometimes I have to push it 4 times just to make one turn
It is by far the worst part of the car. I had a 2024 model that had a working indicator, it got written off and replaced with a 2025 model months ago and I’m still mad about it and consider it a downgrade mostly because of this garbage indicator. I asked about it at my 3 month service and was completely dismissed, he just indicated while the car was stationary and said see it never turns itself off
Yeah one of the worst parts is when I'm indicating and there's a bunch of speed signs and the car's dinging to indicate there's a speed limit change, completely negating the indicator sound. Sometimes it happens just as I indicate so I actually can't tell if it's indicating properly because it doesn't click in. Easily the worst feature of the car.
I'm 3 weeks in and finding the indicators annoying too. If you accidentally go beyond lane change made to full on, you need the lightest touch to switch it off otherwise end up indicating the other way! Showing indicator status in the HUD would be a big help and make it easier to detect when the indicator has turned off.
Yep it's definitely weird. I haven't really found a reliable way to make it stay on (do you hold it down a few seconds)? It seems to have a mind of its own
Same here, sometimes stays on when it should go off then goes off when it should stay on. I'm pretty sure it uses the cameras to "help", so when you cross any kind of line it turns them off.
Yep, up there as my biggest complaint about the 2025 model. It just turns itself off all the time, it will even turn off when I'm sitting waiting to turn. Terrible choice by byd. Also, another indicator adjacent complaint is when it sets off the LKA when you're literally indicating to turn.
Hopefully they can fix it somewhat with an update
It definitely seems to have some sort of logic it tries to employ when it decides to switch off, but is completely inconsistent and unpredictable. It's super frustrating with turning lanes when it decides you must have meant a half press since you've now gone to a different lane, but it crosses into outright dangerous territory with roundabouts. I have a small one near my work where I need to turn right in busy traffic and have to watch it like a hawk. sometimes it will turn off once at the approach where some lines begin, then again as you reach the entrance of the round about, and a third time as you start going around due to the slight left. And then the next day it will work fine the whole way through...
Same here! Anyone find a solution? It's so annoying and quite dangerous, I have had a few close calls because of it.
