Minor Damage Repair Membership - essential or a scam?

icantunseethat | 2025-07-31 23:32 | 6 views

I’m trying to decide if this is a good idea or not. The cost to me is $15/month. The before/after photos make it look like a great choice but the Ts&Cs sound a bit dodgy. Has anyone used this membership?

I had this type of thing offered to me at the BYD dealership too. The way I see it, it probably ends up being cheaper waiting on a bunch of "minor" damages to build up and then get someone that's local and reputable to do the job. Doing this method means you go in for each and every scratch and scrape which seems like a lot of time as well. Ultimately though, it comes down to how long you can live with a car that has a bit of wear on it

Hey I picked it up when I bought the car for a 5 year member ship. Its been 6 months and I've used it twice already for wheels. Its good peace of mind really and the service is fine. Log the repair via the app submit photos They organise a time and come to you as long as you have somewhere safe. 50 bucks done. I hit the gutter and they fixed it Then same day my wife hit the same rim and had to book it in again Not a scam Schmick

Sounds like it might have paid for itself for awhile. Personally, I think that insurance money is better saved by yourself and you can access it when and IF it’s needed.

They rely on dealers and leasers pushing it on everyone, pages of fine print and most people never bothering to use it. Like all insurance - overall it costs more than it's worth. Only of value if you're the sort of person to spend the time to extract that value. (I'd personally never get it again)

I think it also depends on how pedantic you are about keeping your car pristine. Most owners wouldn’t mind a small scratch or rock chips here and there. But for those who have eagle eyes and hyper focus on the smallest imperfections, I can see the value there. Personally, I’d just save the money and wait till the car hits a certain amount of imperfections to get it all repaired at once.
