Help charger keeps disconnecting and reconnecting

LibertyHerald | 2025-06-03 19:51 | 6 views

Hi, As per title my 3.4kw home charger keeps disconnecting. I've switched to three chargers (different brand) all of which exhibit the same problem which ultimately ruled out the charger itself being the problem. My car model is BYD seal 2025. Had the electrician check the actual plug itself everything seems to be in working order. No disconnects from any other appliances that is connected to that circuit. Yes I've tested disconnecting all appliances in that circuit and the same issue persists. Lastly, there is this weird behaviour where the Seal reconnects if I switch back to the official app on my phone should it go to "sleep" and stop charging. Yes I've tried both scheduled charging on and off. I've yet to contact BYD itself but I was hoping to troubleshoot at home. Please assist. Thanks in advanced everyone.

Does it happen with public chargers? Both AC and DC? Very important to know.

Will definitely try this and update

We got 15 Amp charger installed at home and the charger kept disconnecting. So we changed the settings down a bit (I think next option was 11A), and it now works fine. Its not an official BYD charger. If you have the option to try a lower setting, see if that makes a difference. I can charge at super fast speeds at the shops, but I figured it was the home charger cutting out.

Unfortunately even at lower Amps, it still ends up exhibiting the same behaviour as per OP.

Solution: I accidentally dislodged the emergency dislodge button in the trunk. I put it back on and it was all fixed. Thanks for the assist
