Wait time

Hey guys I recently put in my deposit for a BYD seal premium. Ok when i say recent it was a month ago. What is everyones experience like it delivery times. The sales person said it would take 3 months i think? Also funny enough I kinda know the sales guy and he was like just put in the cash option and then later you can change it to finance(as my plan was to put (25k down and finance the rest). But recently I was sent some form to sign for the full cash amount but he reassured me that I could just switch to finance closer to when the car arrives. Thoughts? PS i am super excited i just want the car now

I put my order in mid March and picked it up on Saturday

Numerous-Implement47 2025-05-28 01:20

They told me to do the same thing for Cash option, and in the end I brought my own finance as found better deal. Think otherwise it flicks you to the Finance dept to sort everything out. As for delivery cant help you there as I got one of first shipments in Dec 23

I paid $1k deposit for mine 17/10/2023 & (finally) collected it 14/2/2024 - 17 week gap Apparently it took longer because it was a performance and not the default in/exterior colour scheme.

TurkeySub1663 2025-05-28 02:33

Almost exact same for me, ordered around March 12th and got it last Thursday.

xxx_ 2025-05-28 03:27

Yep this is basically my experience with the performance. Ordered start of March and expecting delivery late June. Apparently because I ordered black there was a wait.

HSV_23 2025-05-28 03:32

Delivery time is really partly a lucky dip, depending on the colour you want and when the next shipment magically arrived. I waited 3.5 months, they estimated 3 months. In saying that people have had experiences where the car was delivered a lot earlier, I assume because someone finances fell through or changed thier mind.

I'm waiting on a Seal Premium too! Super excited. I think it's going to take roughly a month. I put down a deposit on 17th May (Saturday), received a VIN on Monday a couple of days later. I'm hoping it gets delivered in the next couple of weeks. The guy at the experience centre told me it would take 2-3 months so not sure if I got lucky and someone cancelled their order..

flo0mee 2025-05-28 05:19

Thats good to hear! What colour did you get? I ordered the shark grey so i’m assuming thats why itll take a while since most people dont go for it

endheadstartbody 2025-05-28 05:19

Ordered end of Feb, pick up tomorrow (I'm not excited at all I swear). I also ran into the cash finance thing, it's because if you pick finance, it will start an application with their finance provider, rather than who ever you are going to go with. I've just gone through it all in the last week, you pay the cash portion, the finance provider pays them the rest as if it's a cash payment, so for all intents and purposes in regards to ordering it, it is all cash.

flo0mee 2025-05-28 05:20

Jeez 17 weeks is long. I ordered a shark grey one for the premium model so fingers crossed on how long that will take. I guess in the meantime I can increase my savings buffer!

xxx_ 2025-05-28 05:41

I asked to change to the shark grey in April if it means getting the car quicker, but they said the wait time is the same. They could get me a white, but not any of the others. May be quicker now but its hard to tell. I don't think the dealerships really have much visibility on the shipping times so they haven't been able to give me updates.

EsotericComment 2025-05-28 05:54

I went with stock white. Seriously considered shark grey too but decided to save the pennies for some aftermarket accessories. Didn't consider the black or blue since I've always not had the best luck with darker coloured cars haha

karma_gonna_get_you 2025-05-28 06:22

Exact same situation. Paper work came in for the full invoice. Went to the dealership and did the finance process after cash and trade in deposit, and then asked should I sign the original paperwork. They said yes as they'll made notes of the purchase request. Finance got approved and we'll sort of the final details once the delivery date is confirmed.

Just assumed they’re over promising you and if it’s comes earlier great But seams to be the common story with byd they really got no idea lol

flo0mee 2025-05-28 14:45

Which finance provider did u go with? My plan is to get a quote from evdirect on the interest rate and then if its more than 10%, ill look elsewhere.

flo0mee 2025-05-28 14:51

Did they quote u an interest rate? If so what rate did they give you. I’m using their online repayment estimator so it looks like i can afford fortnightly repayments (for context i recently bought a property so double loans might be a yikes)

joshwilliams24 2025-05-28 20:53

My Shark Grey Premium took about 3 months. Ordered late Feb and received last week. Was initially told 4-6 weeks but 3 months it was.. worth the wait.

SuperArm3538 2025-05-29 00:30

I ordered a Performane in mid March and I am still waiting to have a car allocated to me.

raizhassan 2025-05-30 02:07

Perth, White Premium ordered 7 February 2025, arrived a week ago and I'm told I can expect delivery with two weeks.

antifragile 2025-06-06 00:39

Ordered a performance 30/4 and apart form the initial confirmation email haven't heard a thing. I assume July given the 2-3 month time frame the sales guy talked about.

Panson555 2025-06-15 11:08

Ordered Seal Performance in atlantis grey through leasing company late May. What's everyone experiencing for ETA? A very rough 2 months period was advised by the leasing company. Located in Sydney. Thanks all.

Panson555 2025-06-15 11:10

Any updates? Which colour and which state are you in?

antifragile 2025-06-15 11:16

Heard nothing since I made the order, in WA. Atlantis grey.

flo0mee 2025-06-15 13:34

I am 1-2 weeks away from receiving mine and I ordered end of april

Lumpy_Swimming468 2025-06-19 00:47

I've got an MY25 Seal Premium in standard White on order. Still waiting on the Contract to come through confirming an actual car has been allocated to me (only been about three weeks). Just wondering what people's experiences are on the timeframe between signing the Contract and delivery? When I ordered in late May, I expected to be told it would be at least 8 to 10 weeks all up, but they said they would be aiming to deliver in June, so only about 4 weeks. That time is running out quick so curious as to what I should expect.

EsotericComment 2025-06-20 09:17

White seal premium here too. No accessories. Ordered 17 May. Picked it up just yesterday. Contract was provided on the Monday after I placed the order with a VIN, but it was still on a boat. Boat arrived a couple of weeks later. Once docked, it was another week to clear customs and a week in storage. So a bit over a month for me. White is probably the best option for quick delivery. Blue and black may be ok, but shark grey will take a lot longer. Edit: Based in Sydney

Lumpy_Swimming468 2025-06-20 09:25

Thanks for the info. I'm still waiting on the contract with a VIN, so hopefully they give me a car that is already here rather than one on a boat! Only options I chose were Front Tint, Matt's and Boot liner, all dealer fitted so shouldn't cause factory delay. Fingers crossed I hear something soon.

SuperArm3538 2025-07-02 20:30

I ordered same car and colour in March through a leasing company. I was told May / June delivery. So far nothing, and BYD can't give me any update on a delivery date. Customer Care just said that the next ship is expected in July. I asked for him to confirm if my car was on it, but he had no idea at all. I just wish there was more transparency. I saw someone post online that they were told Performance models are delayed until September/October but I can not get BYD to confirm this, so I'm not sure where that info came from.

antifragile 2025-07-02 23:53

Got my contract 2 days ago, which my understanding means its on the docks or boat offshore, so hoping I get it in the next 1-2 weeks now.

Panson555 2025-07-04 13:13

Let's really hope they've packed a good number of seal performances on the July ship. We may be hearing the same rumour that byd is prioritising shipments of Sharks and Sealions because they are much better sellers. Hopefully can get the Seal soon enough, otherwise won't be long until I have to seriously consider the zeekr 7x as the more "responsible" car...
