Anyone else noticed that if you wear polaroid sunglasses it makes the vertical display too dark to read?

So, I've noticed that if I ever want to use the vertical layout satnav whilst wearing my sunglasses, it's too dark to view. If I tilt my head or move to the side a bit, I can see it again. This doesn't happen when viewing the horizontal layout. Must be something that's treating the output as though it's similar to UV?

LCD displays have a polariser so if you use polarised sunglasses and orient the screen a certain way, it’ll block out the light coming from the screen. This is a feature on all LCD displays in general, and you can confirm it on other devices that also have an LCD display.

Yep. Same with the HUD. I wondered why I couldn't see the HUD in the day then I tried without my sunglasses and I could.

Yes. Fact of life with LCDs. hold up your polariods to any lcd and rotate around, you will see they black out. or get 2 pairs of polaroids and hold them next to each other. rotate one 90 degrees and it will black out. not the best video, but this gives you the gist of how it works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7xGQKpQAWw I wear prescription glasses, and I was due for new ones just after I got my seal, and I skipped the polarization addon in my prescription sunglasses for this reason.
