Ceramic Coating option ?

Popular_Pumpkin2638 | 2025-05-07 04:35 | 0 views

Hi all, Was wondering if anyone pulled the trigger on Ceramic Coating option $1590 when ordering their BYD ? Any feedback, quality, looks, value for money ? I've never had it done but was just wondering.

Plenty have had it done (I haven't). Unless you're trying to do it as part of the loan, don't do it though the dealership, same with tinting. Massive mark ups. You'll get both cheaper if you arrange it yourself. Just take the car straight from the dealer to whoever you choose to go with. BYD Seal Australia on Facebook is much more active than here.

From all I've heard, dealership ceramic coating isn't all that great as they rush to get it done. I'd suggest getting it applied professionally after you collect the car. That way you get a high quality application with warranty, and for a similar price you could likely get full ceramic coating and front tinting too. But this also depends on where you are located, so perhaps get a couple quotes from around your area.

I did, I like it, but BYD promised me a warranty certificate for it. I’ve been trying to get that cert for months and nobody will answer me at BYD

Tintacar does a good price for the interior included.

Forget ceramic and get ppf

I’d steer clear of the stealerships when it comes to after-sale services like ceramic coating/paint protection and window tinting. With anything, prep work is most important and they’ll simply coat over all the contaminants and seal in the defects, swirls and scratches that they’ve induced from their typical poor pre-delivery practices. Some of my customers have mentioned that dealerships will use an off-the-shelf spray sealant that they spray on and hose off rather than a proper ceramic coating and sell it as so. I go through a comprehensive wash and decontamination process followed by paint correction (machine polishing) before even coating the car to ensure optimal adhesion, performance and longevity. I run a detailing business called Viridian Detailing in Sydney and specialise in Ceramic & Graphene Coatings. Done quite a fair few BYD Sealion 6 and Atto 3 recently. Happy to chat if anyone is interested about the process and benefits.

Was just looking at Viridian site. Looks very nice. I bet a Sealion 7 would scrub up with those coatings.

I wouldn’t do it through the dealer, they’re detailing is rushed and dodgy at best, atleast mine was when picking up

Most of the brand new cars that have come through the studio have been appalling. Doesn’t matter if you’re buying a BYD, Porsche or Hyundai.

spagasaurus_ 2025-05-07 11:53

Thanks! Definitely, the paint correction process will restore the nature clarity, depth and gloss in the paint. The coating will protect it for years to come whilst keeping your car cleaner for longer in between washes.

Not a lie, my ex demo X5 was “detailed” and had the sales manager’s wife’s pads in the back seat pocket plus some kids lolly wrappers stuffed in-between crevices. Why does no one take their work seriously anymore?

Popular_Pumpkin2638 2025-05-07 12:01

Am I correct in saying its best to get it done asap after taking delivery ?

Got my seal ceramic coated and tinting for around $1300. Would do it again as it makes washing the car soo much easier afterwards. Also consider ppf on front bumper area to avoid stone chips as the paint chips are pretty obvious (mine is white)

The earlier the better. I always advise my customers to enjoy the new car experience for the first few weeks and then bring it in (also because I’m booked out weeks in advance).

Popular_Pumpkin2638 2025-05-07 23:36

thats not a bad price for both..Thats what I want..a nice easy wash.

Might be interested in this in a few weeks, we're based in five dock.

spagasaurus_ 2025-05-08 07:54

Perfect, just around the corner. Will just need the car for 24 hours. I provide a BMW courtesy car whilst your car is getting ceramic coated.

Remote_Setting2332 2025-05-08 08:58

I just had mine done not at a dealer and it was $900 which included removing badges, full exterior preparation and ceramic coat including wheels and also glass treatment. Dealer sounds like a rip off.

What price did you get? They were really good on price and workmanship for the wondows

UnfortunatelySimple 2025-05-12 08:03

This was the pack I got. "We can also offer you a special Ceramic Package Deal for $1,695.00 for a combination of Ceramic Spectre Tinting, Elite X Paint Protection and Elite X Interior Protection."

According_Release556 2025-05-26 01:58

Hi, do you do matte finishes too? If so, how much for bud sealion 7?

spagasaurus_ 2025-06-01 11:24

Apologies, missed your reply. I do matte paint as well, we use a specific matte coating that doesn’t add any sheen or gloss.

hey mate, would you have any recommendations for detailers in Adelaide?
