V2G compatibility

So, I was out exploring the Seal and Sealion 7 the other day. On the DL, and I won't say names, but the V2G compatibility was tested by a big company and all BYD's passed the V2G test. I'm guessing the new cars. But interesting that this is not endorsed or spruiked anywhere. Not sure if BYD will ever officially say it works but thought it was interesting for the future of V2G.

They might tout it more when it’s officially available in Australia. My understanding is that it’s still being tested and likely to be available later this year

My understanding is the government released and passed the legislation and standards late last year for V2X and it is technically available but no car manufacturers have had paid to have thier cars certified for V2X, and the other part of it is Bidirectional charger availability on the market is slim or none.

I guess I'm more so making the point that it's seemingly possible. Because from what i know is not every car is capable.

Alrighty yeah. I think there has been a lot of unofficial murmurings that Seal is technically capable of it. It's the (I assume) costly certification process that the manufacturers haven't committed or commented on at all.

Just need V2H, not interested in V2G when we get next to nothing for export. There's also been talk of paying for export ffs.

Yeah i agree. If its V2G it will be H too. So that's important. In SA I've heard exports will be treated like a solar tarrif.

It's like paying to fill your car with petrol and then siphoning it off to all your neighbours while getting nothing in return.

Doesn't sound very appealing!! Haha. I imagine every state may treat it differently. SA is heavily solar based. But our electricity is also the most expensive. However I'm on the Engie night ev so the tariff is 10c. I imagine because uptake will be so slow, they won't care about making you pay for exports for a while. Just like the first EV plans were soooo cheap. Once adoption becomes higher they reduce their exclusivity. Will be a wait and see. V2H is uber appealing over buying a battery setup. I have a 7.5kw battery at home (paid for by a kind relative after passing) and it is okay for the night without any heating or cooling. Charging my partners Leapmotor REEV drains it in 3 hours. So the ability to fill up with solar quickly during the day on a free 3 hour plan for it to then run your house all night??? A dream!

V2G is a wash unless they give you premium $ for it.
