Hi folks, More of a PSA - Visited the local BYD Service Center yesterday (not MyCar) and got while there received the elusive 2501 software update (was previously on 2403 all most of last year and this). Chatting to the tech he said that BYD disabled OTA for at least the Seals mid last year after one of the updates broke compatibility with a bunch of Aus chargers. It is expected to be enabled again late April but it's not 100% yet. I should note we were there maybe September last year to get the V3/V4 Tesla supercharger fix and it either wasn't available or wasn't done then.

Ah bugger, was it a MyCar or BYD service centre? Either way I dare say you could hit them up and insist on the update that is clearly available...I have had mixed results in the past with non BYD centre's and lazy mechanics who don't seem to be a fan of tech/updates etc. Yeah the changes are decent - the interface is much more polished, faster, the app store now has a few more apps like Zoom, YouTube, some odd games and a couple others. Settings menu has been rejigged. Overall a decent evolution Mmm depends what you're hoping for seating preset wise - but you can now pin different icons to the 'taskbar', including seat position. My gripe is still the inability to set the 'driver exit seat location' i.e. yes I know it moves back when you unlock the door, but there's fair height difference between us so I still have to move it back a fair bit more before I get it. Really they should have had a 'position 1 / 2' on the door... We have a Tesla as well so I'm spoilt in the updates/enhancements/improvements space

Is the drivers screen any different or is it mainly just the changes to the big screen?

yep there's a native app now. From memory Amazon Music, Calm FM as well. Spotify was always there FYI.

Side note - the other reason we were there was the V2L adapter - it wasn't working, which we only found out the hard way during the recent cyclone....The fix was a mix of hardware firmware updates and reseating the rear bumper that wasn't put back together properly after a minor nose to tail. Hot tip - test your VTL.

Hrm didn't actually try playing a video on the native connection that comes with the car or if wifi hotspot is required. Will test tonight and advise.

Note it's only for Seal's in Aus sold between...I think Oct 23 and March 24. March onwards already had the updated wiring harness / resistor thing. It's free for Seal in Aus. You may have to ring the service centre to book as online I see only options around 'book the service for X $'. The fix is f/w and hardware. BYD comms team leaves a lot to be desired in the recall space / in general. My last service for 12 months was just over month ago. I asked them then and the guy said they apply everything the scan tool tells them to and that's it. Bit unorganised if it's getting done at BYD Service but not their authorised agents MyCar.

Yeah pretty average. Certainly worth a call to see what gives given you know other dealers are rolling out the updates

I had my seal serviced today, but didn't get this update. It's very disappointing, I was really looking forward to this update, especially the customisable shortcuts.
