Quick and possibly stupid question regarding services.

TerryTowellinghat | 2025-03-17 13:01 | 10 views

I have a Seal Premium and had my 5k service done slightly early at 4,700 km. I would have thought that my 20,000 km service would be done at 20,000 km, but the sticker in my windscreen says it is due at 24,700 km. Which is true?

I would say this simple point. Don't over drive your service book, or you endanger warranty refusal. If the book says 20k, do 20k.

Well that’s sort of the question. There is no service book so is the second service due at 20.000 or 20,000 after the first service per the sticker on the windscreen?

My understanding is it should be, 20k or 12 months what ever comes first.

The first 'service' is a make sure nothing has fallen off check up. Get it done at 20,000km. Don't give them any opportunity to skip out on their warranty responsibilities. Also go back and ask for a book. Mine was supplied at the 5k km service.

I was given a service book at my 5k service

I’ve called and asked Automall Indooroopilly and they said that I would be OK to leave it until 24,700 as that’s what the sticker says, but as there is no written confirmation of that I’ve just booked it in for 20,000 km in about 4 weeks. The info on the service sticker was just wrong, which is a bit of a worry in itself.

BYD will be recording the Kms somewhere for sure.

After every service, BYD's technician will reset your next servicedue. Check from your infotainment system, under *Service*. It will show your next service due in number of days and mileage.

Thanks mate. Good info I hadn’t thought to check, but it appears that it has also been set relative to my first service, coming up at 24,738 km. It seems to be a stuff up on the dealer side, because if the 20,000 service means 20,000 after the 5,000 service then the 40,000 service would logically be 40,000 after the 20,000. I’ll stick with getting it serviced at 20,000 on the odometer which I’ve got booked in for 17 April. It appears to be a failing of the local dealer/servicing network which I’ll have a word with them about when I take it in next month. https://preview.redd.it/i955uzwg8gpe1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=784e1612160c9ffb3250c1de54a8ee590178a35a
