Apparently the issue is that BYD are up front about the details while the more established brands not so much, which made people suddenly aware.

also people tend to dig a bit deeper on newer brands. nobody is reading deep into warranty clauses when they buy a Toyota

It’s a few years back now but this was one thing about BYD Aus that turned me off. That and all the dramas around Atto3 and the backflips on various things at its launch. On the flip side now I have a car associated with a madman
