BYD Seal U DM-i - AVH (Auto Vehicle Hold)

Go my Seal U DM-i in September and have already done nearly 3k miles in it and generally very happy. Just one concern on the AVH functionality that works fine in most situations but I have a potentially serious issue(s) when turning around on a slope - like my drive way! When turning and the car is pointing down a hill I keep getting a message that AVH had been disabled as I am travelling at a slow speed. Well I am but it is because I am turning around and do want the brake to hold the car at the end of each maneuver. However I often end up facing down a hill at a full stop but with the AVH not working and when I go from brake pedal to accelerator the car moves downhill until the accelerator kicks in and this can often seem to take a second or so for some reason. Has anyone else seen this behavior - am i doing something wrong ? Thanks Nigel Autos & Vehicles

When maneuvering, most people don’t want the car constantly applying the handbrake, so the AVH doesn’t activate. On other cars, a firm press (as opposed to a light maneuvering press) of the brake was enough to activate the AVH, but that doesn’t seem to work on the Seal. Try putting the gear selector in neutral when you do want it to activate (eg on a hill), and see if that works.
