Turn off CPD and FCTB permanently?

RandomMagnet | 2024-12-08 04:50 | 16 views

Hi All, How do we turn off these two permanently? CPD is an annoyance with a poor workaround (ie just dont turn the car off). FCTB is a hazard (of getting rear-ended). Both keep coming back on, despite not giving the warning about "only this ignition cycle" (like for PCW or other safety systems). TIA.

[This guy disabled his ADAS by pulling fuses.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=V1OOLH4JbV0) Obviously not ideal and I don’t know whether BYD would consider the warranty void.

I don’t know what you mean by CPD, and assuming you mean Front Cross Traffic Braking by the other acronym you’ve blithely dropped I would say that I am more than willing to accept it. If someone rams the back of me that is their fault for following too closely. I’d had my seal for less than a week when a motorcyclist ran a red light in fog and his life was saved by FCPD. There is no way I would have stopped in time so I can accept every single false activation easily since then because it would almost certainly have killed that dumb fucker without it. I’ve now worked out that CPD means child presence detection and similarly I would happily accept a million false activations to prevent a single instance of finding a child (yours or not) dead in my back seat because I forgot or didn’t know that they were there. Suck it up dipshit. No protective device is perfect and every one of them will throw up false positives. If you can’t imagine the outcomes they are protecting you from and accept them in that light then you shouldn’t be driving.

No need to call him a dip*hit, many, including myself, find the front cross traffic braking implementation aggressive and too sensitive, it could definitely brake more gracefully and prevent the accident. I've had times where I couldn't get through a little road about because it was falsely stating no safe gap, people behind were tooting. Even ANCAP are looking at a review of their safety testing as it's not necessarily getting the outcome they intend. OP, pass the feedback on to BYD through their online form, my ideal approach would be a profile which saves all your settings even if it has an acknowledgement on boot

They want to permanently turn off a safety feature that protects other road users. Dipshit is mild. Like I said, this exact feature saved the life of a motorcyclist in my first week of owning my car. Yeah it occasionally hits the brakes unnecessarily. For me it has real trouble in late afternoon with shadows over the road. If someone runs up the back of me though they were tailgating and I wouldn’t feel bad for them. There is absolutely no way I would have hit the brakes in time to save the life of that motorcyclist. I called him a dipshit too.

I don't really have any issues, found if you lift off accelerating coming up to roundabouts and boost when in then it's fine. It doesn't like accelerating toward what it thinks rightly or wrongly is a dangerous situation. I think possibly similar to those that want the lane departure off, it's almost always the type that doesn't indicate 😀 Now while you do not think ppl should be calling anyone dipshits, just think if the car that killed that whole family outside the pub had this. That's when you start thinking what's the thing that matters. Hence why I think the dipshit comment. You can't turn this sort of function on fast enough to save a life, and generally the worst that will happen would be you get smashed bumper, and it's always the car behinds fault as they should in any circumstance leave enough gap to stop. Note: I'm not calling anyone dipshit btw, but the super aggressive breaking saved me and my car on many more occasions than it has caused me issue, especially with ppl that decide who just pull into your lane because there is a bus in theirs, rather than checking the lane next to them

Yeh i've started doing this - using the "DAW" shortcut as well to at least get to the safety system section - from there its easy ish to get to FCTB...
