And it was done with LFP batteries!! An 80 kWh blade pack, albeit a little bit more special than that found on BYD’s regular cars Also, it’s not just a straight line wonder. It did a a fantastic time around the Nordschleife track in the Nürburgring in Germany (one of the most difficult tracks in the world). Just under 3,000hp. A truly amazing (and beautiful) car.

Would I like to see it in the UK? Yes, absolutely. Could I afford it? No.

The ‘ordinary’ version of the U9 can be yours for the bargain price of 230,000 USD (in China). 0 to 100km/h in 2.3 secc and top speed of 309 km/h (193 mph) and approx 1,300hp. Discover more BYD Seal Vehicle Shark 6 It really is a bargain compared to just about any other super car, but unfortunately still ‘slightly’ outside my price range (where slightly means a country mile ).

It certainly wouldn't be a daily commuter but it is an amazing car! I suppose the SEAL is a sleek, sporty option that gives you every day practicality and is still pretty quick reaching 0-62mph in 3.8s! Do you own a BYD yourself?

Impressive feat we know! Can't say your 'average' BYD cars are slow either with the SEAL offering an impressive 0-62mph in 3.8s. Do you follow the BYD brand closely or is it just all fast cars?!

I have a RWD Seal. The ‘slow’ one with ‘only’ 308hp and 5.9 secs 0 to 100km/h. And I absolutely love it. A fantastic combination of effortless power for cruising, beautiful design (inside and out), very good material quality inside, loads of real world range, and pennies to run. The interior in particular has so many details and design touches. So well thought out. Clearly a huge amount of time spent designing it. It’s definitely not just thrown together with nothing but costs considered. It’s not that I’m into performance cars as such, but having the effortless power is brilliant. I love driving (at reasonable speeds) along our L and R roads here in Ireland (approx 40/50mph speed limits), just flowing through the bends. Exhilarating but effortless and peaceful at the same time. Since I got the car in Apr last year, there has been multiple software updates to the car and app, so the whole experience just keeps getting better and better. Now I’m a huge fan of BYD, and I read and watch a lot about them.

The SEAL is a beautiful car and a very popular choice for good reason

It’s not quite as efficient as I had hoped, and after only 13k miles something is moving in the seat back during acceleration and braking which is a bit annoying. So having dipped my toe in the BYD world, it may be one and done. I do appreciate the two major infotainment updates I’ve had in the last six months, which is two more than I had in over two years of my previous car (Renault Megane E-tech). Autos & Vehicles
