Quick! Partner wants to get a Tesla.
How do I convince them in under two and a half hours that the much superior BYD will be better. Please help.

read out elons twitter feed?
For me this was a significant factor. https://www.reuters.com/technology/tesla-workers-shared-sensitive-images-recorded-by-customer-cars-2023-04-06/ Then there's also having an utter moron CEO at the helm.
Show them the price tags simple.
Tell them BYD have been making batteries and vehicles longer than Tesla has existed, and this shows in both design and build quality.
Leave them, if they want to drive a Tesla they're clearly not suitable.
Want live traffic navigation in your car? Gotta pay for a subscription to get that in a Tesla Don't like getting into a hot car in summer? Tesla sunroof and side windows aren't tinted, it's just black coloured glass. Want to indicate while turning a corner? Well if the wheel is inverted then your indicator buttons now indicate to the opposite direction. Like having a 360 camera? Tesla doesn't have that Like real leather? Tesla doesn't have that Want to drive a car that ICE drivers despise and can at times go out of their way to inconvenience you? Buy a Tesla Want to drive a car that people find interesting and even have Tesla drivers tell you how good it looks? But a BYD Seal
You forgot to mention: Want a way to charge your car at home without having to pay extra? With Tesla you can’t. Want the option to power appliances in a blackout or when away from home? In a Tesla, that’s not an option.
Just get them to sit in both cars. The decision will be easy.
Tesla has over the air software updates, leader in battery and safety for user protection. Tesla have also been practicing, ONLY producing EVs with a company goal and motto of ensuring the world can move towards sustainable energy. All the other noise, created by 'traditional' media and automotive industries. FYI, Tesla has been producing battery tech for 2x the time of BYD. Think about resale of something which will essentially flood the markets due to the aim and goal of profits and unnecessary mass production also.
Unsure what you mean by unable to charge at home without paying extra?
Tesla’s do not come with any charging cables, you need to buy it separately.
Ah ok got it. Not quite relevant to people who install a wallbox
Nope but relevant to those who just charge over a standard 10amp outlet.
Byd making Tesla's battery... Google it
How do you do that?
Do what?
Polestar
Both cars are good but… I choose the Seal because lower price, more space for passengers in the backseats, apple carplay and android auto, original design (for now). Here in Europe we have lots of roundabouts, so traditional handlebars are a must for me. Btw, BYD has OTA updates as well.
Sorry, Tesla has a 360 camera, sentry mode and a dashcam. Navigation with recharge stops is on Tesla. For BYD you need to sideload an app and pay for subscription, I think.
What 360 camera? They don't offer a birds eye view which is what a 360 camera is. Instead you get rear and side views when reserving. They have sentry mode, but the camera images can't be used as a proper 360 camera while driving because its used for the autopilot system. The Seal also has an onboard dashcam, you just have to fit it yourself. Native BYD Navigation app offers live traffic navigation with live battery range, it will show you how far you can go on your current SOC. As a seperate feature it will show you all recharge options nearby from all providers, not just Tesla ones, and it tells you which ones are occupied or not. I'm assuming it doesn't combine these 2 together because it would probably breach some sort of Tesla IP. No subscription needed.
My bad, I was under impression there was a birds eye view on tesla. I was referring more to route planning, when said "navigation". I Understand on a day-to-day travels it's not a big deal, but for a road trip... maybe? I'm considering these two vehicles myself (in fact, I have both booked for a test drive). Considering the prices are somewhat similar, but with Tesla having longer range and all the extra features... But Seal looks WAY cooler:) Anyway, my opinions change every day.
The Seal Premium gets more range. 570km v 513km wltp range. I think everyone here who bought a Seal was in the same position as you comparing the 2 in the buying process. So I'll share my research with you! The Seal Premium vs Model 3 RWD are about the same price at the moment. But with the Seal you get: - more range (570 v 513) - faster 0-100 (5.8 v 6.1) - digital dash cluster - HUD - real leather seats - V2L capabilities - silver tinted full length panoramic sunroof (Tesla is just black coloured glass) - UV tinted windows (again, black glass on Tesla, no UV protection) - Free charger cable - Free roof sunshades - Free V2L adaptor - Wireless Android Auto - Wireless apple car play - Can run full Android OS with extra module meaning you can run the screen like a full Android tablet and install any app - 19" alloys - 360° cameras with rotating live view - Access to partial Tesla Charging network The Tesla gets: - Access to full Tesla charging network - Faster DC charging (150kw v 250kw) - Faster AC charging (7kw v 11kw) - Enhanced AP (if you buy it for $5k) - Charging Navigation (no live traffic unless you buy it) - Rear screen for back row
Sold! P.s.: I was comparing long range models btw
Crisis over. Ordered the Seal Performance from my Bed this morning. Sweeeeet.
How would you even consider what you say make any sense. I know you are just trolling so if that's what floats your boat more power to you. But when you say something so stupid as to say Tesla has been amking Batteries longer than BYD is just moronic. Tesla was founded 8 years after BYD, and BYD was founded as a battery company. Also ask how Tesla users are feeling who bought just before they lost 8k overnight on that resale value drop which will likely happen again given the number of Tesla's sitting unsold in docks.
No troll at all. I reiterate - they have been in the battery world longer than any current car manufacturer. Re - the price adjustments, what manufacturer would reduce the cost and profit they gain by staying sincere in the company's global goal? Reducing costs of EVs and access to vehicles that will improve the world's transition to sustainable energy. Everyone just thinking about themselves when it comes to pricing. A company in line with their goals and visions and not just focused on mass production for profits for TRUE pieces of rubbish that will literally be worth nothing in the near future. Do some self research, you might see past the narrative that has been fed to the general public that seem to lack the ability to form their own opinions or do their own research. Numbers dont lie.
That navigation is in BYD Seal Software 1.3.1 in Europe and about to land here.... It is also free and EVEN tells you the total distance of your journey 🤣
