Confirm your pickup date and location! Unsure how, but don’t assume it will be when you were told.

I’ve been excited for days to pickup my new Seal at 11am at Indooroopilly. I got a lift in and rocked up at 10:45 to be told instantly that I should have gone to Eagle Farm. I was still checking my invoice that said pickup at BYD Indooroopilly, when they added that there wouldn’t be a car for me. Apparently the pickup date and time I picked on the website means nothing and I should have waited for a phone call, and also that there are no pickups at Indro and I should have known that it was Eagle Farm despite that never having been mentioned at any point. There is no contact option on the website aside from clicking the “if you need assistance” link on My Account, but that just sits on “Processing” forever, and the two times I have called the dealer I’ve gone to a messaging service and they haven’t called me back. To their credit they have loaned me a Dolphin and promised that they will drop it off to me directly, but they have really dropped the ball at this late stage and I still have no idea when I will get my car. I have been assured that it will be before the 27th when I have it booked in for the ceramic paint treatment, but this has been a real letdown on what is possibly my only new car in my lifetime and a waste of a day off.

I never saw anything about the pickup time in there. They rang me the day after I got allocated to make a time.

I never got a call nor anything but the notification on My Account that a car had been assigned and to choose my pickup time. There was no information saying that I also had to get a phone call until I turned up at my chosen time (which was the default time that I took a day off work to be available for). Their communication has really fallen short in my opinion. In fact, I tried to call two days before to get confirmation that the leasing company had sent them the money, but they never returned my call. Probably by coincidence the leasing company sent me the remittance advice later that afternoon and I assumed that they had heard from BYD. It has so far been impossible for me to contact them by any means other than physically turning up at AutoMall at Westfield Indooroopilly.

My wife went to pick up her seal yesterday, she knew it was eaglefarm, but the car was detailed worse than a second-hand dealership. Full of scratches and ceramic protection not fully cleaned off. They apologised and offered to drop off at home. The tablet was also lagging and unusable, wonder if this is a sign of things to come....

Sounds like they might have been under the pump trying to get all the shipments out. Good on her for calling them on it. I’m getting my ceramic coating done third party on the 27th and I’ve been assured that I will have it before then. Good luck with hers. I hope this is just a short term glitch in their systems. Two guys I work with have got them recently, one had no problems, and the other only had a problem with the leasing company not having coughed up the funds by pickup date.

This, and the inability to be certain on delivery dates is what's putting me off a BYD...

santz007 2024-05-18 08:31

When you say tablet was unusable, do you mean the rotating 16inch Center console? How would one detect it, what did you try to use on it? Receiving my seal in a few weeks, need to be prepared

Yep that one, we were in the middle of delivery handover demo and tablet was just basically unusable to click into menu or anything. It was stuck on homepage

f1mani 2024-05-18 08:54

Yup the phone numbers were all useless. We had a sales guy in indro that showed the demo so we had his contact but... even with all that, we came home empty handed. I can pm you the details if you havent already got someone in indro that you can reach via their mobile

I’ve been driving the dolphin today and after about 100 km I’m pretty impressed with it for what it is (ie not my style of car) but I’m still expecting to get enjoy the seal when I get it. The online portal offered me a pickup of 2pm on Tuesday today which I have accepted but obviously I will have to hope to get a call or track down someone down on Monday to ensure that they know I’ve been promised a dropoff. It will still be a faster delivery than my initial optimistic hope which was the end of the month - about three weeks from order to delivery but they really need to work on the communication. The online portal is still saying pickup from BYD Indooroopilly and I see no reason that it should ever say that.

Cheers. I think I do have that number actually, as he called me from it early in the process. I will try to hunt that one up ready to use on Monday. I’ll also be coming through Indro way on Monday afternoon so I might have to drop in again as a worst case.
