Ground Clearance

godlessarmy85 | 2024-05-17 07:24 | 6 views

Has anyone had any issues with the BYD Seal's ground clearance. 1200mm it's pretty low. Looking to buy one, but have been a little concerned about the height around speed humps etc. I'd be moving from a vehicle with 1700mm clearance, so it's a big drop.

1.2 metre ground clearance vs 1.7 metre. Is it a swamp monster?

Yeah too many zeros in my post. Should have been 120mm vs 170mm

I was concerned about the clearance. However, I have had no issues at all. Driveways that the camry knocked on the Seal hasn't touched, mind you, I am being careful.

Cheers for the reply.

I'm really happy with the Seal. Just make sure you get a 7kw charger installed at home so you can top right up overnight. I really recommend getting the after-market roof shade if you are in a place that gets hot and a set of floor mats is a must as well. The white is actually what Toyota calls Pearl white, with metallic flecks, so it's a bonus for nothing extra.

The absolute lowest point is 2 rubber guards that sit directly in front of the front tyres. Clearances are: Lowest point (in front of front tyres): 120mm Front bumper: 200mm Side skirt: 170mm Behind rear tyre: 200mm Rear bumper: 250mm I’ve gone over plenty of speed bumps, sharp angled driveways and low clearances without issue so far.

Thanks for the reply!

What tells me is that we do very different amounts of kilometres per day. 👍

Theres a good video on youtube by sky perspective about it. I was concerned too, but hasn’t been a problem since I picked it up. We have a heap of wombat crossings and speed bumps at the local shop too that haven’t bothered it.

>1200mm it's pretty low That's over a metre of clearance. That is also not the seals clearance. >I'd be moving from a vehicle with 1700mm clearance, so it's a big drop. What have you got? A Unimog? Aksu, have you considered selling said Unimog to a random on the internet?

I have a very steep angled driveway to the garage. I test drove the Seal over it and it cleared with no problems. Only issue is parking against high kerbs. Need to not get too close with the front. An issue I have with my Mazda 3 as well.

Thanks for sharing your experience!

I have a steep access drive and shared your fears. It was a great relief to be able to drive in and back out without any scraping.

True, I am looking at 100 to 150km daily driving within the city itself

UnfortunatelySimple 2024-05-18 08:47

I still suggest 7kw. 👍
