I think it's gonna be a case of those made before March are SoL
that is certainly one of the possible outcomes
By the sounds of things [it's a hardware issue](https://www.bhatt.id.au/blog/byd-australia-explains-why-atto-3-seal-cant-use-tesla-v3-v4-superchargers/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR0J9m1phGUDsNEI2_MYqqRblLMmfUNsQcnxEaC9jq8Yu30-amzWAZtoqw8_aem_Ab0gL3CqyTBYCfODcc8_-YCNbdLrOpGu8jkeB2BXew6adPrBi2kPFjtAVcaeR2gQuBkertsFMTU5gbt1UuJehepd) and I seriously doubt they're going to replace thousands of chargers in Aussie seals.
yep. also when you consider that the charging hardware is part of the 8-in-1 unit that includes the motor. so even if they can just swap a board inside that module its going to involve pulling the motor.
Oh well, at least Tesla has closed down their supercharge division, so they'll hopefully start being bought out by third parties (who offer cheaper charging in any case). I've noticed a lot of Tesla owners clog up the third party chargers here for that reason, while the V3/4 sit empty.
yeah i heard stories of one place where there was a single NRMA charger that was free, plus a 6 bay supercharger. People were always complaining that they would get there and the only charger open to all was blocked by a tesla.
Is this worth worrying about as a new buyer? Would it be worth insuring build date is March or newer?
*ensuring If you order a new car now, you are going to get a new build. I ordered in Jan and got a march build.
Do Seals built in March (03/24) have the newer hardware, or only builds **after** March?
my march build works.
Thanks! fingers crossed mine does too. I'll test it when I get a chance. I wonder what else was changed with the hardware update.
